Personally, I'd love to see a "sold so far" counter, either real-time or in the blog after a sale is finished. It'd be interesting to see what's wildly popular and what isn't, which may change my decision on later sales of the same product

Thanks for the suggestion. It would be interesting to see the sales, but I don't think many of the vendors would be comfortable with that. In general, they don't like to reveal their sales, whether good or bad. It's a good idea - it's always fun to see what sells out on similar sites - but I don't think we could make it fly here.

How about a product to catalog CD's and DVD's like MediaMan?

Jen, today you are featuring Ultra Fractal, which is very cool. One of my first impulses was to tell some of my friends about this offer. I scanned the main page, looking for a "Tell A Friend" button, but didn't find one.

Of course I could compose an e-mail and paste in the link, but a simple function added to your site could make that easier and faster . and it would allow me to pass forward the information even if I didn't happen to have access to my mail client and server when visiting your site.

If you add this feature, I think it would be important to do the standard things: assure those who use the function that you won't use any e-mail addresses provided except for the purpose of forwarding that particular message, and pass along some text from the initiator to the recipient, so that the recipient knows that the message is not spam but was personally initiated by someone they know.

Hi David,

That's a GREAT idea, thank you. We'll get to work on it very soon.

Some of you programs offer a trial version. OK, I tried My Notes Center, and now I want to buy it. Too late. Why not a way to buy it at the offered price within the trial period?

You posted "Clipboard on Steroids" at 11:20 pm on 12/19. At 11:02 pm on 12/20 I went to purchase it and it was gone. "1 Day" should be 24 hours and no less. Some of us come home from work late at night.

Interesting premise and some good deals. While the blurbs you give on the products are interesting, they are not enough to get me to install yet another trial, as everyone's hard drive is filled with downloaded but never installed trials or the traces of installed and uninstalled trials. Yuck.

So the first thing I do after reading your blurb is Google the title and go to the developer's site for more info and screenshots. Each and every time. You should make it easier to go to the developer's site. Maybe you intentionally make this difficult to do, but I simply do not trust your blurbs and thumbnails enough to install on their recommendation alone. I want links to more info and bigger, more numerous screenshots.

Thanks for writing. There's always a link to the developer's site on our top page, but, you're right, it's not in the RSS feed or the page you get to from there. I'll get that added soon. Meanwhile, if you hit the "read more or buy" link in the RSS feed you'll be taken to the top page, and can follow the "more info" link there instead of having to Google the title.

Hi Jen,

I'm one of those who generally doesn't pay for software, knowing that there's usually an equal or superior freeware alternative to commercial products, but even I've gotten a couple good deals here and through DonationCoder.

If you haven't already, please consider asking the author of GoldWave if he'll offer a discount. I think it's one of the very best audio editors available.

I like having previews of what's to come. However, it was three weeks into my subscription that I finally realized the preview email also included that day's product! Perhaps I'm just dense or inattentive, but it usually takes me only a few seconds to decide whether or not to keep reading about today's bits and those few seconds were taken up by the previews. I never realized there was another product waiting for me at the bottom.

My suggestion is either a separate preview email, or starting the existing one with "Check out today's great deal below the previews! " or some such thing. You could also put the previews after that days listing.

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll add something like that to the previews listing. It looks like you're using the FeedBurner email forwarding service. Another option is to use RSSFWD instead; they send 2 separate emails, where FeedBurner combines them. Both are described on our subscribe page, if you want to switch.

Thanks again,
