Fritz Reid There is a new trend with some vendors that require you to disable your computer protection in order to install their software.Even when you follow these ridiculous requirements the software still will not install. Bitsdujuor has offered plenty of free software from vendors who have software that does not require disabling your pc protection, I would hope in the future that Bitsdujour could remove this type of software from the 100% free category.

Little Bear There was one site that I don't know if I can mention here that recently added a new form of copy protection called Themida and it caused quite a stir and problems with Antivirus programs.

In regards to your concern, of all the free software Bits Du Jour has offered, I have never had to disable my computers Antivirus Program or Firewall to install a program. If you can't install it properly in Vista or Windows 7, try launching the installer "Run As Administrator" and it solves many of those incorrect installation problems.

Pauleduc Buyers should be aware that free or nearly-free software offered by Bits-du-Jour may not be eligible for free updates. This was the case when I 'bought' the free WinX DVD Ripper.. In fact, I could not even reinstall and register it after I had to reformat my HD and reinstall all my software. It took several notes to the author to eventually get a new registration code. Caveat Emptor!

Roger Thomasson Just check the policy tab if you aren't sure -- we're very clear about update restrictions there.

FYI, these restrictions are never present on non-100% deals. Just the free ones.
