Reecy Porter Does Bits, or anyone for that matter, have software that will record a live webinar with audio? I'm having audio issues so I'm wondering if I need an external mic plus software or what.

Any advice is ohh so appreciated.

Hugs,
Ree

Thomas Duntze Hello Ree,

it may be, some of your sound features are not enabled.
Take a look at THIS howto from solveigmm.com:
http://www.solveigmm.com/...-hypercam/
For your problem you don't need hypercam itself. The first part of the howto only concerns Windows 7 itself.
BUT if HyperCam is interesting, as it records sound AND video, test it. It may suit your needs.

disenchanted I would like to suggest something, but need more info:

1. Are you creating a webinar that will use a video camera as input for the video and the audio that you want to record it with software?

2. Or are you creating a webinar using just your computer screen, with you speaking into a microphone?
(like are you teaching people to use a software program like photoshop or such and making a webinar out of it)?

3. Or, are you watching a streaming webinar someone else is hosting online and you want to be able to record/capture your desktop's window which contains that streaming video with audio?

It was the 3rd option that I had an audio problem with once, so I will address that one.
I had a subscription to a membership site once and they promised us members we would get "downloadable" mp4 files to ALL training. About 3/4ths of the files were already in mp4 format and were in fact downloadable. But they reneged on converting the last 25% of the streaming videos into mp4 format. Providing us with ONLY streaming (no mp4 downloads).

I tested camtasia, camstudio, hypercam, bbflashback, 1AV screen capture, and a few others. Both paid demos and freeware.
Each had audio issues of one type or another.
I tested these on 2 different make/model/brand computers. One with XP and one with Vista, still had audio issues.
1AV provided the most help toward resolving audio issues. Even showed how to loopback the speaker output audio jack, split it into 2 lines using a 3.5mm splitter, then feed 1 output to speakers and the other to the Line-In jack. But that was kind of a kludge.

The only product I found that recorded both the audio and video of whatever was playing within a browser screen was LITECAM 3 by innoheim.
It seems they created and sell a separate codec. The codec is included with a purchase of their products. Or can be bought as a standalone app. Their codec made all the difference. Perfect audio recording every time on and and every computer.

Surprisingly LITECAM was not that expensive. It was $39 but there were several $5 off coupons floating around the internet, making it $34.
They also have a higher end product called camverce, that competes with Camtasia in capabilities. It costs like $99.

Hope that helps you.

Reecy Porter That is exactly what I needed. Yes, was trying to record a free webinar so that I could re-reference it without having internet. It's hard to get sometimes up here in the mountains.

I do appreciate the time it took to write this!
