Although i signed up for the weekly mailing--and that's what I got for weeks--suddenly I am receiving the daily email. This is the second time this has happened. My suggestion is that when people ask for only a weekly email they be sent only a weekly email. I did not ask for, nor did I want, an email every day.

Nico Westerdale Well I'm sorry that you got the wrong email, I'm unsure how that could have happened. May I suggest you unsubscribe and resubsribe again?
        Jan 26 2009 at 8:54am
Sorry, Nico, but it's not just him. I signed up for the weekly e-mail about 2 weeks ago - the 14th, if I remember correctly. Thus far, I have received an e-mail on the 18th, 22nd, 23rd and twice on the 25th. The e-mails on the 22nd, 23rd and 25th (both of them) are all identical. And for all 5 e-mails, the Subject line is identical - "Bits du Jour - Daily Software Discount Newsletter". I think your mailing list manager is having a breakdown grin!!

Nico Westerdale I think it might be too!

Now the emails that you're getting, do they just have the deals for one day, or are they for the whole week?

"Now the emails that you're getting, do they just have the deals for one day, or are they for the whole week?"

The whole week. The one I received on the 18th had the deals for the 19th to the 25th and the one I received on the 22nd (which was repeated on the 23rd and twice on the 25th) had the deals for the 26th to the 1st.

Nico Westerdale Ok I think the weekly mail was triggered by accident, doesn't seem to be another explanation from what I can see. We'll be more careful in the future!

"Ok I think the weekly mail was triggered by accident"

That appears to be the case. The only e-mail I've received in the last 7 days was late Sunday night, as expected.

Although, it was still called the "Daily" Software Discount Newsletter :-)

Nico Westerdale Glad to hear it, and the deals are still 'Daily' even though the mailer is weekly!
        Feb 2 2009 at 1:39pm
Just a head's-up...your mailing list manager has hiccuped again!. Today (2/14) is the third consecutive day that I've received the weekly mailing detailing next week's (2/16-22) deals :-(

Nico Westerdale So sorry about all this, we're obviously still having problems. We'll try and figure out the issue again today.
        Feb 15 2009 at 3:12am
Nico Westerdale Ok we finally figured out why this was happening! Our emails get triggered by a web page that's hit every evening. This is an unpublished URL and what somehow happened is that it was hit by a web crawler. What we've done is to properly secure the webpage so this can never happen again.

So sorry for the problems everyone.

LOL!! Those danged spiders are a pain in the a**, whether they're on the internet or in the house :-(
        Feb 16 2009 at 2:30pm
Nico Westerdale I gave them a good dosing, they won't be back.
