Jon Koerner YAEW - Yet Another Ecco Wannabe...

Zoot is another interesting "PIM" product, a tool for storing information on-the-fly as you encounter it, and being able to retrieve it later.

You can send information from whatever app you're working in at the moment that you encounter some useful information, directly into zoot -- no cut/paste required.

It's an interesting product. Regular price is $99. Might be tempting on a 50% BitsduJour discount.

Like many people who used the amazing Ecco software (before it got sold to NetManage, which proceeded to destroy it), I'll probably spend the rest of my life looking for an adequate replacement. InfoSelect is one that I've used for a while. There are others, like Ultra Recall, which have some of the features. Zoot is another candidate for filling in the Ecco void.

(Don't tell anyone, but I actually still have Ecco installed on my primary computers.)

I, too, was an ECCO user, and both cussed and raved. It was complex, but great.

After it left us, I tried Zoot for a while (it had a great scheme for capturing data), and InfoSelect for a few years (but never liked its user interface).

I'm *always* looking for something to manage information. There are a lot of products, but none since then has ever really caught my eye or imagination, and I'm still looking.

Perhaps the newest Zoot is the answer?

Thanks!

Vanessa N Ecco Pro is still available for download (the original 1997 version, its last build) here: http://www.compusol.org/ecco/

You have to pay a $10 membership fee (to support the site it sits on), but it may be worth it to you, since apparently they also have on the site 64-bit installers for those using XP, Vista, and 7.

Roger Thomasson Wow, Zoot looks pretty cool. Surprised more people haven't mentioned it here. Anyhow, I just fired off an introductory email, hopefully we'll get 'em on the schedule soon!

Best!
