Jim Ganw No PayPal option? Really?
Feb 24 at 12:48am
Gabriel Zastawnik Hey. I want to buy this program, but for security reasons paypal is the best solution for me to pay. Can you enable this payment option?

Or can you even extend this deal for another day beacuse I will be able then to fully upload my visa card credit. Today is sunday and my bank is not working.

I was hoping to buy this software so I uploaded money for my paypal account and there is NO option to pay via paypal

Yfor The trial download does not seem to work, neither from the BDJ link or directly the website.

Susan Westlake Jim, I'm afraid we disabled the paypal option some time ago as it was an open door for fraud.

Gabriel, happy to let you purchase the day after the offer at the discounted price.

Yfor - the download is working fine for me both from our website and BDJ. Perhaps just a temporary issue on your network?
Technology Lighthouse - Feb 24 at 4:33am
Gabriel Zastawnik Susan Westlake: ok. I will be very happy then and I will contact you tomorrow to finish my payment.
Feb 24 at 5:35am
Joe Bowling I am so sorry that you do not have a PayPal option. REMEMBER = Fraud goes both ways. I have found that PayPal is a great protection for the customer. Some of these offers come from around the world and who knows who you are dealing with. I think that you will find that most customers are honest. As far as vendors, WHO KNOWS. It gives me a sense of confidence if I can deal with a known company over and over to process my payment. Let me know if you decide to deal with PayPal. I would like to purchase your product.
Feb 24 at 11:23am
Susan Westlake Hi Joe, I'm so sorry I can't help you. I appreciate that it's nice to be on the buyers end with Paypal - I happily use Paypal as a buyer. For a few years we used it quite successfully on the sellers end, but things changed I think because in the last couple of years we had nothing but bother. I know there are lots of honest people that use paypal as buyers (I'm one of them), but when it came to software sales we found that only a handful of people used paypal and the majority of them refused to pay claiming that the purchase was made fraudulently by a third party. When we switched it off all we seemed to loose were those fraudulent sales. I'd willingly switch it on just for you, but we no longer have an account. So sorry I can't help.
Technology Lighthouse - Feb 24 at 12:09pm
Joe Bowling I am very sorry about your experience as a seller. In this case you lost a sale to an honest customer. I suspect that there are many others in my position. I can not believe how many different companies and individuals are involved with some of these products. One company like BitsDuJour for promotion, another company for sales, another company for billing, another company for delivery, and sometimes another company for support. SORRY, I will deal with just one company for billing = PayPal.
Feb 24 at 12:41pm
Susan Westlake I do understand your position Joe. It's a shame that dishonest people spoil things for all of us! You are quite correct - it is a logistical nightmare.
Technology Lighthouse - Feb 24 at 1:26pm
Gabriel Zastawnik As I said yesterday - I bought one license of your software. Looks promising:)
Feb 25 at 9:09am
Stéphane Giguère I bought this morning but didnt received any information. Did you get my order?
Feb 25 at 1:34pm
Susan Westlake Gabriel, I'm glad you like it.

Stephane, yes, we received your order and the license details were sent out to you immediately. I'll resend the details to you now. If you don't receive it please check your spam filters.

Get back to me if you have any further problems.
Technology Lighthouse - Feb 25 at 2:49pm
Stéphane Giguère Thank you. I found it in spam folder and it had the title:

Thank you again

Paul Bonnici Thank you Technology Lighthouse (Susan Westlake) & BitsDuJour. :D

Ordered, Installed and working fine. :D

I look forward to playing with it over the next week. I have tried several (free & paid) and been unexcited to disappointed in them usually (with only one exception). ColorCache was recommended by a fellow web designer, and at this price, it's most certainly worth a try! :D

I don;t have a problem with the fact that it's noot been updated for a couple years. I am frankly fed up with products that are updated weekly or even monthly! How many new *features* do you really need? And as for bug fixes... why not get it right in the first place! Sheesh!
/rant ;)

So far, I really like the Pallete Builder. Easy and intuitive.

The preview feature begs a question however... ;)
Will there be any support for HTML5 & CSS3 (and future) formats, or has development halted on this product?

Thanks again, first impression is good. :)
Paul.
Feb 26 at 4:39am
Susan Westlake Hi Paul,

Thank you so much for the feedback.

I agree that the preview feature leaves a lot to be desired. It was implemented some time ago with ideas of developing it further but no one really showed much interest in this aspect of the product so it fell by the wayside.

Development hasn't halted for good. As you suggest - there were no bug requests and no further requests for features to respond to. In the past year we've been busy on other products but hopefully we'll look into updating and improving ColorCache this year.

I'm not on the ColorCache development team, but I do use ColorCache all the time for web development, graphics etc. It's one of the few bits of software that I couldn't do without. So it will always be supported - I can guarantee it LOL
Technology Lighthouse - Feb 26 at 6:53am
Paul Bonnici No worries Susan. :)

I've had a bit more time to play now, and I like it. :)

It's a shame about the preview feature, it's the only (minor) let down I've found, since I use HTML5 & CSS3 a lot (mainly for designing 'responsive' websites for mobile devices). It would be very useful when one is trying to find that *perfect* ;) pallete (especially for a fussy client), rather than having to change the test page (HTML or CSS) and upload it to the server to check it. It would be far less time consuming (as I am sure you've found yourself.) I hope you can convince the developers to work on this, you would truly have the *almost* perfect product in this class! (There being no such thing as perfect of course! And you can't please everyone, no matter what you do!) :D

In any case, I am happy to recommend this product, not least because at least you are responsive! LOL

Thanks again, and best of luck. :)
Paul.

Susan Westlake When we do get round to another major update to ColorCache (could be later this year), would it be OK to contact you to sound you out for more details on what you'd like to see from the preview feature?
Technology Lighthouse - Feb 27 at 7:13am
Paul Bonnici Hi Susan,

Umm... 'Be careful what you wish for!' ;) :D

To be serious... Yes, that would be fine. I've been a developer & project manager and worked in IT over 30 years. So I can be quite realistic and present a professional want/wish list. :)

One of my tests for products in this category, is how well the render color's (on my calibrated display) relative to the Pantone color cards (I have the full digital and paper sets, from solid to process.) I also have the Pantone Color Chooser s/w products (including plugins for PS & Illustrator), which are expensive and not that easy to use. But when I must have absolute accuracy, there is no other option. :) Anyway, I found that the colors from ColorCache are fairly accurate, which is a nice bonus! :D

And I *talk* too much! Apologies... :)

Thanks again, and feel free to contact me any time. always happy to help. :)

Paul.
