What exactly should a download manager do, anyways?

Well, we think that it should facilitate and streamline the downloading process for pretty much anything on the Internet.

It should be able to download based on specific criteria. It should be able to download streaming and flash media. It should be able to handle podcasts and feeds. It should pick up downloading where it leaves off. It should enable organization and viewing of downloaded files.

Kind of like DownloadStudio, a uber-handy app that helps you quickly and easily get your hands on programs, games, music, movies, TV shows, photos, streaming audio, streaming video, flash, flash video, documents, RSS feeds, blogs, podcasts, complete web sites, complete FTP sites, and just about anything else that you can download on the web!

PL Is this lifetime free updates, or is it a 1 year update license?

Thank you in advance.

StitchTech I clicked on the Get This Deal button and the store indicates a price of $17.47, which is more than either of the two prices outlined above. Is there a different coupon code I should use?

Techtoysavvy @StitchTech That's the coupon.
24.95 - 17.47 = 7.48

Louis H Regarding the update situation with this program......

I purchased the program back in Aug of 2010. That was three computers ago. I forgot about the program - ( which says more about my inability to keep track of everything I have purchased over the years than it does about this program) -and just installed it on my newest computer. It registered with no problems with my Serial Number and License key. (Same for the companion program Mezzmo! )

StitchTech @Techtoysavvy - thanks for pointing it out. Weird that the screen doesn't show the bottom line. Must be because they charge tax - apparently in all jurisdictions, because I don't usually pay tax on esellerate transactions, and the seller is a Canadian company.

Software Babe I get the same thing: $17.48. The price does NOT reduce as I go thru the purchasing process.

Constantin Florea @Software Babe, The $17.48 price you mention is the value of the coupon code (I see a value of $17.47). The total price which you should pay, is not shown except in the page which shows up after you enter your name, email and address. I just tested this on several browsers and I see the price correctly. If you still encounter the issue and see $17.48 as the total price you should pay, please clear your browser cache and try the purchase flow again. If the same issue happens after doing that, please send us a snapshot at notify@bitsdujour.com in which we can see the total discounted price of $17.48.

a zeus I have not been able to complete a purchase for this offer. I get all the way to the very last button (even all the way through Paypal and back) and receive an order processing error. I tried multiple browsers, and even more than one payment method. I have sent an email to the payment processor. Is there anything else I can try?

Constantin Florea @a zeus, I just contacted the vendor regarding the issue you mention. Until the vendor replies, I suggest clearing the browser cache and trying again. If that doesn't work, please consider trying other browsers (with the browser cache deleted) like IE, Chrome, Firefox or Opera.

Greg Z I can't pay by PayPal either it keeps glitching with no error indicated but I've checked in my PayPal account and no transaction is recorded not even the failure. Trying one more time using Constantin's advice then report back.

Edit: I tried other browsers and even directly through their site and no dice. So I'm giving up which is a pity since the software does sound good but wasting 30+mins on this is enough for me. If this is offered through BitDuJour itself again I might consider it but as it failed even through their own website I'm not particularly impressed or fussed must be other software available out there or even here on site or just put up with downloading normally.

Paul Schumann Hi a zeus & Greg Z, Sorry for the purchasing problems. We use eSellerate (Digital River) for all payment processing and we've have 100s of purchases already processed in the past 24 hours. So we know it is not a system-wide issue but specifically related to your attempted purchases. Constantin's suggestion is a good idea - i.e. clear your web browser cache and/or try another web browser such as Chrome or Firefox and/or try another computer. If that does not work, then I suggest you email the eSellerate support staff immediately using the support [at] esellerate [dot] net email address. Since we do not process the orders ourselves, there's no point in contacting us (Conceiva) as your first point of call. If still no success with eSellerate, then do email us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we'll try to help out.

Paul Schumann Hi dtouch, DownloadStudio performs very well compared to IDM. We're biased but we think it's much better than IDM :). I suggest you give the 15-day fully featured trial version a try and see if you like it. Go to www.downloadstudio.com to download it. If you have any problems, just email us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we'll get you up and running.

John H I just tried this out. Just want to save a few videos.

This program probably can do it all. I do not think I want anything off the Web enough to spend the time climbing the learning curve this program appears to have. The documentation looks well written and the learning curve should not be too time consuming.

But for $7.48, I think I will get this for my tool box for that one time when I really need to download something.

I currently use Video Get which is just plain simple idiot proof.

Greg Z Can an admin please delete my post pointing out there can be payment issues as well as this one? I thank "a zeus" for posting their experience and saving me wasting anymore time than trying all the things Constantin suggested, then guy from Conceiva repeated lol. Lucky only me and him were globally affected by it. I paid for a game by PayPal immediately after reading Paul, using the same browser, it's not my browser(s) or PC.
Admin can you delete my posts on this product or how to turn the notices off? I don't want updates on something I couldn't buy. I've read far worse than what "a zeus" and I posted on this page in numerous other product discussions too btw I'm frankly a bit disappointed but don't care, please delete so I don't have to unsubscribe from the updates for the BDJ site's products.
Thanks in advance.

Paul Schumann Hi Markus J, Yes, installing into Chrome does require a few steps. We have to do this since Google recently pulled our DownloadStudio extension from the Chrome Web Store (they don't like download managers downloading from certain sites). We've complained to Google about this, but we're unable to get it re-listed. So you have to follow the steps to side-load it. Once loaded, it works well & is easy to use.
