Get Everything On The Web!

What exactly should a download manager do, anyways?

Well, we think that it should facilitate and streamline the downloading process for pretty much anything on the Internet.

It should be able to download based on specific criteria. It should be able to download streaming and flash media. It should be able to handle podcasts and feeds. It should pick up downloading where it leaves off. It should enable organization and viewing of downloaded files.

Kind of like DownloadStudio, a uber-handy app that helps you quickly and easily get your hands on programs, games, music, movies, TV shows, photos, streaming audio, streaming video, flash, flash video, documents, RSS feeds, blogs, podcasts, complete web sites, complete FTP sites, and just about anything else that you can download on the web!

Amit 1) I make use of a download manager - which has the ability to do everything + mainly it lets me put comments into each download as well. (asks at time of adding the download)

Then it saves the comment as an additional .txt file along with the download with inbuilt much information like time and server + my comments.

Does this software have the same ability ?

2) Is a portable edition available ?

3) Also can some skins can be customized or are already there.
Oct 5 2012 at 9:31am
Harald Vogel Any news about version 8 and when you plan to release it? Thanks
Oct 5 2012 at 2:31pm
Paul Schumann Hi Amit:

Some answers:

1) DownloadStudio lets you add a comment/description for each download when you download a file. It is not stored in a .TXT file but the DownloadStudio database. You can view details about a downloaded files at anytime in DownloadStudio.
2) Sorry - no portable version.
3) Sorry - no custom skins.

Paul Schumann Hi Harald,

DownloadStudio v8 is currently in Beta and we plan to release it before end of this year. It has been released recently in Japan (called DownloadSpider in Japan) so we're confident that it is working well. DownloadStudio v8 will be a free upgrade for all registered users.
Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 5 2012 at 5:35pm
Amit OK can we export the comments and some particular details (like download referrer / url / time) of some SELECTED ONLY downloads to any form - like html report (MUCH BETTER) or any other preferred format. But in the report - the comments included.

As I dont like looking into the big database of all the big list of downloaded files.
Oct 6 2012 at 6:21am
SoftCollector Dear Paul,

1. Please, confirm that buyers of v7 here will receive v8 as a free upgrade.
2. It seems that DownloadStudio cannot automatically detect Google Chrome (the browser is not listed as an option for integration after installation). Further, I tried to manually direct DS to Chrome in Program Files under Windows XP, and then install the extension, but Chrome refused it – 'extensions can only be installed through Chrome Web Store'. Please, comment.
3. Also: during the installation of DS it found out that 'newer files were already present' and aborted the installation of that component – so why is DS being shipped with 'older' components aboard?

Kind Regards,
SC
Oct 6 2012 at 2:42pm
Paul Schumann Hi Amit,

You can export information about all (or just selected) downloads as XML. The XML file contains all information that you entered for each selected download - including url, referer, time, etc.
Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 6 2012 at 4:21pm
Paul Schumann Hi SoftCollector,

Some answers:

1. Yes - all registered users of DownloadStudio will get a free upgrade to DownloadStudio v8.

2. Google Chrome recently changed the way they let plugins be installed. See this forum post to install DownloadStudio into Google Chrome: http://forum.conceiva.com...in-support

3. I guess the components you were alerted to were some MS runtime DLLs that DownloadStudio is installing. We'll check it out.
Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 6 2012 at 4:26pm
DrTeeth I cannot speak highly enough of this product and the developers. They are very responsive to the changes, say, that YouTube makes that breaks the DLS video download feature. They were also *very* quick to fix Firefox plugin issues.

This is a program that you will be happy to own and use. Buy it!
Oct 7 2012 at 7:59am
SoftCollector Can DownloadStudio be used to download video from sites like YouTube – and if yes, how can it be done (I was unsuccessful yesterday)?
Oct 7 2012 at 8:21am
Danny What distinguishes this DownloadStudio software compared to other downloads tool softwares?

And has a multilanguages interface capabilities as Dutch?
Oct 7 2012 at 12:14pm
Amit ^ Ya I would be likely buying it - but would like to know what has it got in better than idm and others as getgo or flashget ?

Also the mezzmo combo would have been good.
Oct 7 2012 at 2:16pm
Paul Schumann Hi SoftCollector,

DownloadStudio certainly does download videos from YouTube. We have a patch that fixes an issue where YouTube changed their site recently and this broke our downloader. This has been fixed - see this post on our forum: http://forum.conceiva.com...-0-5-users
Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 7 2012 at 3:32pm
Paul Schumann Hi Danny,

Firstly, it is best you try the 15-day trial of DownloadStudio to get your own opinion if you like it or not. Our design philosophy for DownloadStudio has always been to provide users with all the tools get any file on the internet in one well-designed program. So with DownloadStudio, you get all the tools to download video files, music, compressed files, programs, images, etc. Another important aspect is to download files fast. If you are downloading (say) a 10GB 1080p HD video, this can take a long time, so any speed improvement can save you many hours. We believe DownloadStudio is the fastest downloader on the web. We have an FAQ about this - http://www.conceiva.com/p...p#Features. Regarding languages, DownloadStudio currently has English, French, Spanish, Russian, Polish, Ukraine, and Czech.
Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 7 2012 at 3:41pm
Paul Schumann Hi Amit,

Makes sense. Check out the 15-day trial to see if you like it. Also go to our FAQ page to see the highlights of DownloadStudio and our take of why DownloadStudio is better than its competitors - http://www.conceiva.com/p...p#Features. Any more questions, please just ask and I am happy to answer. And stay tuned, there may be a special Mezzmo offer on BDJ in a few weeks :)

Paul Schumann Hi Lupke,

This has been been fixed last month. Grab the Firefox patch from our forum: http://forum.conceiva.com...x-versions
Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 8 2012 at 12:14am

Great you are up and running again! Next time you have a problem, please do contact us on the forum or support email & we'll gladly help you out.
Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 8 2012 at 12:24am
Amit @Paul

If possible, kindly try to include this feature in the upcoming versions or v8 -

Saving the comments + some info ( as referrer url and time ) as an additional .txt file in the same download folder.
This feature really helps a lot in saving information - if many files are downloaded regularly.
Oct 8 2012 at 6:01am
John Storrs Hi, there is a free downloader add on for Firefox called 'Easy Youtube Downloader 6.6' which allows you to specify what quality level you want actually downloaded.
You can choose from various formats (*.flv, *.mp4, *.mp3 etc.) and with for instance with *.mp4 files you can specify 720HD or 1080HD.

Does DownloadStudio allow you to specify the quality of the video that is going to be downloaded ?

Does DownloadStudio recognize different file formats being loaded and once setup automatically place them in folders that have been specified ? - and if it does that is it capable of performing any other/further (predefined) actions to files ?

Thanks,
Johno.

r@n r Is it allowed to install it on multiple computers but 1 one use at one at one time only?
(also think of the: pc / laptop situation)

EDIT:
I have a problem with 2 dll files when using 'url sniffer':
- wpcap.dll
- packet.dll

After installing those 2 dll files I keep getting the error:

"...The procedure entry point PacketGetReadEvent could not be located in the dynamic link library packet.dll.."

What am I doing wrong? I am using windows 7 64Bit freshly reinstalled from a clean image and all the updates installed to this date.
Oct 8 2012 at 6:11am
SoftCollector When placing the order I get a grand total of 14.96 USD instead of 12.47 USD. It is because of the VAT tax, but interestingly enough I do have a VAT number and I have entered it.

So what is the matter?
Oct 8 2012 at 2:39pm
Paul Schumann Hi Amit,

We'll certainly consider your suggestion for a future version.
Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 8 2012 at 3:52pm
Paul Schumann Hi r@r,

You are permitted to install DownloadStudio on several computers in your home, but you can only run it on one computer at any one time.

When you install DownloadStudio, the installer prompts you to also install WinPcap. You should also install WinPcap as it is used for the DownloadStudio's URL Sniffer application to find download URLs that you are interested in. If you choose to not install WinPcap, then you will see errors like you are getting. I'd suggest uninstalling and re-installing DownloadStudio again - this time, making sure you install WinPcap. If still a problem, let us know and we'll help out.
Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 8 2012 at 4:15pm
Paul Schumann Hi SoftCollector,

I'm not sure what is the problem with the VAT number processing. Our e-commerce partner is eSellerate (Digital River). They do have an FAQ page about how they process VAT - see http://support.esellerate...ollect-VAT. Hopefully that helps explain how it is applied. Let me know if it is still a problem, and I'll chase it up with them.
Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 8 2012 at 4:21pm
Paul Schumann Hi John,

DownloadStudio does let you specify the quality of the video that you wish to download from YouTube. Your quality setting changes the size and format of the video that is downloaded from YouTube. See this FAQ for more details - http://forum.conceiva.com...-downloads.

There's also another handy FAQ about using one of DownloadStudio's powerful features called Site Rules for downloading videos from YouTube - see http://forum.conceiva.com...lity-level

If any questions or problems, let us know.

I tried it on the installed version of FifeFox and firefox portable both give the same error regarding the exension (downloadstudio.xpi)

Glad you are up and running now.
Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 8 2012 at 8:13pm
John Storrs Hi Paul Schumann, thankyou for getting back to me with that information. Sounds good.
As I have not registered yet with Conceiva (forums) I could not look at some of the Conceiva links on those pages you suggested I look at.
So, can you confirm for me that you can specify *.mp4 as one of the Youtube downloadable formats ?

Thanks,
Johno.
Oct 8 2012 at 8:51pm
Brad Perrault Hi Paul

I tried to order your program tonight through PayPal but got an error so I am unsure whether it went through. Sent an email to shopper@esellerate.net but no response. Do not want to risk a double transaction. I know it successfully reached PayPal as it returned to the final transaction screen, however upon submission it immediately returned with the error message below.

Are you having problem processing PayPal transactions?

Error: We are sorry, but your order cannot be processed. Before trying the order again, please contact shopper@esellerate.net and let us know the name you entered for your order.

Can you determine if it reached your end. Otherwise I will wait till shopper@esellerate.net returns a message to me.

Thanks, Brad
Oct 8 2012 at 8:54pm
Paul Schumann Hi John,

You have full control over the size & quality of the YouTube video that will be downloaded from YouTube and this also indicates the file type that will be downloaded. The available quality levels (from lowest to highest quality) are SD, HQ, HD, HD-1080p. YouTube does not necessarily have have all quality levels available for all videos, but DownloadStudio will try and get the video closest to the quality level you select. The HD and HD-1080p will typically download .MP4 videos and the SD and HQ will typically download .FLV videos.
Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 8 2012 at 9:03pm
John Storrs Ok great thanks Paul.
Oct 8 2012 at 9:12pm
Paul Schumann Hi Brad,

I just checked all sales at eSellerate and I could not find your surname in any purchase, so I'm pretty sure it has not been processed by eSellerate. I would try again - and if there is a double order, then we will certainly refund one of your purchases. If you want to provide other information about the possible purchase (e.g. email address, order number, etc.), you can contact us at sales [at] conceiva [dot] com & we'll assist.

Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 8 2012 at 9:33pm
Brad Perrault Hi Paul,

I tried once again, second attempt to purchase through PayPal unsuccessful also. Prior to making the second attempt I went to my PayPal account to see if anything was amiss but everything is good. The transaction fails when it comes back after validating my account with PayPal, at the point of final submission it returns with the same error message noted above. So I am going to try making the purchase via the Chrome browser instead of newly installed Firefox browser, I cannot imagine that being the issue but as long as you will refund the transactions if they come through afterwards then I will make another final attempt. I would just make the purchase via a credit card but I use PayPal to limit my exposure, and I purchase things all the time using my PayPal account. I even logged into my backup bank account with PayPal to see if money was available and no issue. Does esellerate have any issue with my PayPal account userid being linked to a free gMail account?

I let you know how it goes.

I just noticed that I am getting another error message along with the previous error noted above,

Firefox is saying: The page isn't redirecting properly.

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

So whatever that means. Let me try Chrome.

Thanks, Brad
Oct 8 2012 at 9:58pm
Paul Schumann Good luck with it, Brad. As mentioned, we'll refund any multiple orders. We do have customers purchasing our products everyday using PayPal and with gmail accounts, so there's nothing strange there. Hopefully it is just your web browser - perhaps clear its cache/temporary files/history.
Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 8 2012 at 10:03pm
Brad Perrault Hi Paul,

The third attempt though PayPal failed once again, eSellerate contacted me and stated that it would be 72 hours before they could figure out what was happening with my order and why it was failing through PayPal. I'm very confident that the issue is not on my end but it is some process failing between eSellerat.net and PayPal.

In the meantime thanks for your assistance Paul. I'll just catch this software next time it comes around.

I could just use my credit card but I am risk averse to do this, even though I don't doubt that everything is on the up an up, I just prefer not to transact using this modality.

Best Regards, Brad
Oct 8 2012 at 10:53pm
John Storrs Hey Brad,
I purchased mine with Paypal and from within Firefox no problems at all and quickly.
However as Paul has suggested it would pay to check the Firefox version go to Help/About Firefox and then click on 'Check for Updates', also if you havent cleaned out the browsers cache for a while go to Tools/Clear Recent History - this will open a 'Clear Recent History' window (suprise suprise !) now choose the top line in this little window says 'Time Range To Clear' slide right along to the lil drop down arrow and choose the bottom option 'Everything'
**NOTE:- make sure you have all your passwords for your sites that Firefox auto enters for you written down or recorded somewhere because these will be no longer there and you will have to enter them manually the first time once you resume browsing, at which time you will be given the option to save the password again.**

Ok so choose everything and then click on 'Clear Now' - a msg. will have appeared warning you that this action is not reversible, npz. as long as you have recorded your passwords etc. You will also have to enter your basic (name DOB, address phone no. etc.) into forms at least once before that info will be available for Firefox to put in for you auto.
Its not a bad idea to do this from time to time - common sense is the 'how often?' answer it depends on how much browsing you do lols.
All the best,
Johno.
Oct 8 2012 at 10:55pm
Paul Schumann Thanks for the tips, John.

Brad: If still no joy, contact us at sales [at] conceiva [dot] com and we'll look after you so you can purchase DownloadStudio with the same discount. No hurry either - we can do it in the next few days if you like.
Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 8 2012 at 11:00pm
Brad Perrault Hey John

Thanks very much for the tip on clearing the cache with Firefox, but the third attempt was made through Chrome and I had cleared the cache prior to my final attempt. I'm thinking something else is going on process wise between eSellerate.net and PayPal specific to my account and likely to do with the multiple attempts I've made to complete this transaction. Although I did contact PayPal and they replied a few minutes ago that my account had no hold, or reserve placed on it. The support rep stated that there are many variables and that even then it may take them 24 hours to get a complete answer as to what the issue was. Such is the nature of our technologically wired world.

But thanks again for your help. Brad
Oct 8 2012 at 11:25pm
Paul Schumann That's fine, Brad. Contact us when you're ready.
Conceiva Pty Ltd Vendor - Oct 8 2012 at 11:46pm
SoftCollector Dear All,

I bought DS as part of the last promotion on BDJ, and have been trying it for two weeks now.

1. Unfortunately, I cannot report that my findings are predominantly positive. I am primarily using Google Chrome and with it, DS is very unstable, crashing time a time again in the site explorer/downloader mode, and more often than not taking my internet connection with it, which forces me to restart my computer.

2. It is an interesting piece of software and tries to offer a lot (for example the site explorer mode mentioned above where all links on the page are listed and you can choose what do download – sort by extension, and get all the *.epub files, for example). However, it is either very buggy or does not run well along Chrome, as it breaks down way too often. Yesterday evening it crashed in the neighborhood of 10-15 times for the duration of 20 minutes. My computer is running Windows XP Pro, which has been installed recently.

3. Another interesting feature is the 'download video' mode, where you can get clips from www.youtube, for example. However, yet again, it does not always work as advertised, so it is a hit and miss kind of deal.

4. Even when configured to monitor the clipboard, sniff for URLs, etc. it is either too late to react (Chrome has already downloaded the file at 30%), or does not start at all.

5. I would like to see the software further developed and fixed, as it offers a wealth of functions under the hood, has a great interface, which I would rate 5 out of 6, and could be the perfect deal for the money, if it indeed did what it said it did.

Kind Regards,
SC

Paul Schumann Hi SoftCollector,

Thanks for your feedback. They are welcome & we're happy to help you get up and running.

Some answers/feedback:

1 & 2. We have not had any reports of crashing from our users so please contact us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com with details how you can get it to crash. We'd really like to reproduce this crash and fix this ASAP.

3. There is a patch for downloading YouTube videos - http://forum.conceiva.com...-0-5-users After applying this patch, you can download videos by using the URL of the YouTube pages directly as a download job. You can also set the quality (HD, HQ, SD, etc.) of the videos that are downloaded from YouTube.

4. Not exactly sure what you mean by "late to react". When a URL is detected, it is caught or listed by DownloadStudio. If you have an example, we'd like to find out if there is a problem. Please contact us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com with details.

5. We're continuing to develop DownloadStudio and your feedback helps us improve it. So please contact our support staff any time using either our forum (http://forum.conceiva.com) or our support email (support [at] conceiva [dot] com).
