iMacros

Automate All of Your Web-Based Tasks

*** Due to the overwhelming response iOpus Software GmbH has agreed to extend this deal for another day - Enjoy! ***

"...we are using iMacros Scripting Edition to automate information quality audits of institutional sites, and also to streamline our information gathering and research tasks without taxing corporate IT resources." -- Alex McKenzie, The World Bank

More and more these days, web development means a lot of testing in various browsers, making changes and adjustments, refreshing, retesting, over and over and over again. Sound familiar? And time-intensive? And boring?

iMacros lets you create solutions for web automation, web scraping or web testing in minutes. It's like the ultimate robot stand-in for all of your web browser testing needs! Whatever you used to do manually, iMacros can do automatically -- stuff like filling out forms, clicking on links, performing inquiries, you name it, iMacros has it. Multiple page forms? Not a problem for iMacros.

With iMacros, you can automatically upload and download text, images, files, even entire web pages.

The advanced versions (Pro, Scripting) of iMacros also contain a command-line interface and application programming interface (API) to automate more complicated tasks and integrate with other programs or scripts. The Scripting Interface of the iMacros Scripting Edition is designed as a Component Object Model (COM) object and allows the user to remote control (script) the iMacros Browser, Internet Explorer and Firefox web browser from any Windows programming or scripting language!

Please note: Today's 50% discount applies to the Power Surfer, PRO, and Scripting editions of iMacros! Take a look at the comparison matrix to decide which version is right for you and your company.

I know what some of you are thinking -- your sites make heavy use of Java, Flash, Flex, and Silverlight elements, so what good is iMacros Power Surfer Edition? Well, you take those words right back, because iMacros Power Surfer Edition is the only tool that performs in-browser tests of Java, Flash, Flex or Silverlight applets and all AJAX elements!

Roberto wow.. im happy this morning.
A question: The api works with c++builder?
Sep 20 2011 at 12:43am
Mathias Roth Hi!

Yes, C++ builder is fully supported.

The iMacros Browser, but also Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox can be controlled with any Windows programming or scripting language by using iMacros. We have included samples for the most popular languages on

http://wiki.imacros.net/Sample_Code

The basic usage is the same in every language. If you have an specific c++ builder questions, just email our tech support.

Dillon Geo I am little confused. Isn't the iMacors add-on for Firefox always free? What is the difference between this paid version and the Firefox add-on version?

Thanks
Sep 20 2011 at 7:41am
Mathias Roth The iMacros for Firefox addon is absolutely free and already very powerful. But the business editions can do even more:

For sale at BitsDuJour are the iMacros Business Editions, see http://www.iopus.com/imacros/compare/all/

Many users upgrade to business editions because they include tech support and advanced features such as Ajax, Flash, Silverlight and Java applet automation, image recognition, and - in the iMacros Scripting Edition - a unique scripting interface component that lets you control the iMacros Browser, Firefox, Chrome and IE from any Windows programming or scripting language.

Brian H "remembering passwords, and filling out web forms" ... So could this version be used as a replacement for Roboform?
Thanks.
Sep 20 2011 at 11:18pm
Mathias Roth iMacros can replace Roboform (It does on my PC!).

The advantage of iMacros is that it can not only automate the login itself, but also all the clicks and form filling afterwards, e. g. navigating to a certain page and automatically generating a report.
iOpus Software GmbH Vendor - Sep 21 2011 at 12:48am
Robert Bull If I read your comparison matrix correctly, the only versions that support Firefox are the free edition, and the top-level $499 (at full price, $250 with offer) Scripting Edition. If I only use Firefox, is there any point in purchasing the $49.95 Power Surfer edition that's the lead one featured in this Bits du Jour offer? I realise the discount applies to all versions, but $0.0 to $250 is a big difference. Or even $0.0 to $50 with offer for the Pro edition.
Sep 21 2011 at 6:35am
Mathias Roth The Power Surfer Edition will help you to automate sites that use Ajax (e. g. Flickr), Flash (e. g. Youtube), Silverlight or similar Rich Media (RIA) technology.

The Scripting Edition will be useful for you if you want to completely automate ("script") some web tasks, e. g. completely automate the up- and downloading of data, automate data extraction (web scraping) or web testing.

In any case, your purchase comes with a 90-day money back guarantee, so you are welcome to purchase iMacros on Friday, and return it later for a complete refund should you not need it. But I am confident that you will like the additional features ;-)
iOpus Software GmbH Vendor - Sep 21 2011 at 1:22pm
Brian H Hi- thanks so much for getting back to me regarding my question for using "Power Surfer edition" as Roboform replacement. To follow-up on Robert's previous question though, I do use IE and Firefox. I understand that Power Surfer edition can replace Roboform for IE use, but it looks like it won't be able to replace Roboform functions in Firefox, is this correct? Or, can the free "iMacors add-on for Firefox" replace Roboform in Firefox? I'm just a bit confused and need some clarification.

I have to add that, as a consumer, I wish there was a version of your program available that is in-between "Power Surfer edition" and "Scripting edition" that would have full Firefox support and at a much lower price-point than the "Scripting edition", which might be a more robust product than I actually need. The $49.95 jump to $499 just seems really huge to me.

Thanks again for doing such a good job addressing our pre-sales questions.

-Brian

will the Power Surfer edition
Sep 21 2011 at 10:13pm
Mathias Roth Hi,

For use with Internet Explorer I recommend the Power Surfer Edition if you do not need command line or scripting support (if you do, then select iMacros PRO or Scripting).

For Firefox, you can start out with the free version, and upgrade to the Scripting Edition if you need to do so later.
iOpus Software GmbH Vendor - Sep 22 2011 at 4:56am
David Mitchell I can't even get my scripting version to run with Internet Explorer. There must be some secret trick to get started.

I can get it to do much of what I want in Firefox, but try as I might, I can't get it to log me into the area of GoDaddy.Com where I can add an email forward manually.

Robert Bull Mathias, I feel like Brian H. As a Firefox user, I'm not hearing anything that makes me feel I want the Power Surfer version, which looks only beneficial for IE users. On the other hand, I can't afford and don't need the Scripting Edition, even with the BdJ discount. So, thanks for the free Firefox addon; and, please will you consider something like the Power Surfer Edition but for Firefox?

Also, is there a version that can be run from a USB stick, please?
Sep 22 2011 at 12:25pm
Neal Lassiter What is the cheapest way to replay already built macros on other PCs? For example, I may be interested in the PRO edition, but I need a cheap way to play it on 2-4 other PCs.
Sep 22 2011 at 12:32pm
Mathias Roth @Robert Bull - thanks a lot for the feedback! There is no USB version yet.

@Neal: You need an iMacros PRO or Scripting Edition license only for each development machine. For all machines where you only need to use/replay the created macros and scripts a Player license is sufficient.

For more information about the iMacros Player and a screenshot please see http://www.iopus.com/imac...htm#player

A S Just want to say that iMacros is a truly wonderful and indispensable product. I purchased the full scripting edition last year, and it doesn't disappoint. The package is incredibly powerful and provides complete control over the browser. Well worth the money (even though I paid full price for it - I wish I had known about this upcoming BDJ discount!)
A few notes:
1] Regarding the differences between the scripting edition and the regular version: it is important to note that the regular version, to the best of my knowledge, does not include any conditionals or branching in its macro language. That is, if you wish to check the value of a control on a site and then perform one action or another in response to the value of the control, you must have the scripting edition, wherein you can use conditionals in the language of your choice. Put simply, if you need to perform an "if" in your macro, then you will need the scripting edition.
2] @Robert - you asked about why firefox users would want to buy this. Here too, I believe that the primary advantage would be in upgrading to the scripting edition for the conditionals. Right now, you don't have any options for branching or conditionals in the free firefox add-on, but with the scripting edition, you'll be able to use conditionals freely. That's a world of difference - moving from simple linear scripts to complex conditional scripts that can essentially do anything.
3] @David - regarding scripting for Internet Explorer - there are useful code samples on the site. But just to get you started here's some sample code for C++ to connect to an existing instance of Internet Explorer; see if this works (note: this assumes that you are working with Visual C++ in a C++/CLR project, and that you have added imacros to the list of COM references for the project):

// allocate an imacro object
iMacros::AppClass^ app = gcnew iMacros::AppClass();

// connect to existing IE browser (using 180 for timeout value)
retval = app-iimInit("-ie",false,"","","",180);
if (retval == iMacros::Status::sOk) {
// success!
}
Sep 23 2011 at 3:59am
Robert Rodenberg will iMacros create macros for the 'ACT!' Database (contact – manager) for repetitive queries involving various search criteria? I imagine that it probably will (I've downloaded the demo version) but I'm wondering, in advance, if anybody has used it for 'ACT!'?
Sep 23 2011 at 4:45am
wayne Hassman Can I purchase now and download the software later?
Sep 23 2011 at 6:10am
Goran Janevski Is iMacros only good for web pages?

What if I need to automate mouse clicks and keyboard keystrokes outside of a web page? Can iMacros do this, OR do I have to buy an extra add-on, OR nothing outside of a web page is supported?

Thanks,
Goran
Sep 23 2011 at 6:28am
Mathias Roth @Robert - You can use the ACT! database as input/output for iMacros via our Scripting Interface (API)

@Wayne - you can download the software anytime. The download link never expires.

@Goran: iMacros specializes in automating EVERYTHING inside the web browser. But you can connect it to other applications via the command line interface (PRO Edition) and programming API (Scripting Edition)

If you plan to distribute your solution I recommend our iMacros Enterprise bundles. They consist of one or more iMacros Scripting Edition licenses and the popular Unlimited User Player license. You can also cross-upgrade to the Enterprise Bundles anytime later.
iOpus Software GmbH Vendor - Sep 23 2011 at 6:42am
Neal Lassiter From the comparison chart on your site, it looks like a certain number of players are included with the scripting edition (4th check mark under scripting edition). Is this true? If so, how many?
Sep 23 2011 at 7:34am
Jason Weidenbenner I already own an older version of the scripting edition (6.12), and I would like to upgrade. Which package would I choose to do this?
Sep 23 2011 at 7:49am
Ashley Aitken Hi,

Thanks for the discount offer and pre-sales support. I too am a Free Firefox user and, basically, wish to support the development of iMacros, which we find very useful, but can't see any use in buying the Power Surfer IE Add-on.

What I would like to know, as soon as possible, if possible, is how does the IE add-on differ from the Free Firefox add-on (if at all). May I suggest that you should have an extra column on your comparison for the Free Firefox add-on.

Please excuse me if I am missing something and thank for the Free Firefox add-on.

Cheers,
Ashley.
Sep 23 2011 at 7:50am
Ashley Aitken Oops, forgot to ask - does the Free Firefox add-on support AJAX 100% or would I be better off moving to the IE add-on?

Don't like IE very much so would prefer to stay with Firefox, but we are shortly needing to control an AJAX web site.
Sep 23 2011 at 7:52am
Goran Janevski Enterprise bundles, please, where are they?
Sep 23 2011 at 7:54am
Ashley Aitken Oops again, just found "Compare All" which answers a lot of my questions. I think I will be getting the IE Power Surfer version (though wish VERY MUCH there was similar for Firefox) :-(

Sorry for the noise.

Cheers,
Ashley.
Sep 23 2011 at 7:58am
Larry Adams Bundles are described here... http://www.iopus.com/store/
Sep 23 2011 at 8:49am
Mathias Roth @Ashley: iMacros Power Surfer Edition (and all other business editions) has 100% Ajax/Flash support.

@Neal: The Scripting Edition does not contain Player licenses.

Player licenses are available as 5-user (US$ 99), 50-user (US$ 199) or Unlimited User (US$ 399) license packages.

If you need player licenses I recommend our iMacros Enterprise bundles. They consist of one or more iMacros Scripting Edition licenses and the popular Unlimited User Player license.
iOpus Software GmbH Vendor - Sep 23 2011 at 8:55am
Robert Bull @A.S.: thanks for the point about conditionals. *IF* I had still been at work, I would have considered the Scripting Edition, but I can't justify it or afford it for home use. I would have seriously considered a Power Surfer version had one existed for Firefox, if only to support the program. As things are, I'm passing, however regretfully.
Sep 23 2011 at 11:53am
Goran Janevski Thanks for the answer on the bundles.

How steep is the learning curve, and how good is the documentation?

Does one have to be an expert web developer to be able to write scripts?

Thanks,
Goran
Sep 23 2011 at 11:57am
Mathias Roth Hi Goran: The documentation is available as public wiki at http://wiki.imacros.net/ and we have an active user forum at http://forum.iopus.com

Basic HTML knowledge is useful for creating more complex scripts, but you do not need to be an expert at all. The iMacros Scripting Edition license includes free Silver Level tech support, so our support team is ready to help you with your project! For more details on our support see http://www.iopus.com/serv...ptions.htm
iOpus Software GmbH Vendor - Sep 23 2011 at 2:45pm
Rick Truell If, as has been suggested, the free Firefox add-on can't do conditionals and branching, you might want to consider the freeware AutoIt (http://www.autoitscript.com/) instead of coughing up $500 (well, $250 with today's offer) for the scripting edition. I have no personal experience with automating actions in a web browser, but a friend seems to be having a lot of luck using AutoIt to automate things he does in Firefox, including interacting with Flash elements.
Sep 23 2011 at 11:00pm
Nico Westerdale Due to the overwhelming response iOpus Software GmbH has agreed to extend this deal for another day - Enjoy!
BitsDuJour Admin - Sep 24 2011 at 12:00am
Mathias Roth @Rick: Thanks for your hints. But let me clarify that while Autoit is great software, it is something very different: iMacros can run many instances at once (e. g. automate 10 browsers at the same time!), record your actions visually directly inside the web browser, automate file up- & downloads, extract data from websites, has a programming API,..., and can run in the background.

Windows macro recorder like AutoIt are great to, well, automate Windows applications like Notepad or Paint, but if you want to automate anything inside a *web browser* then iMacros is the - by far - most powerful software available. It is also considerably easier to use as you can visually record activity directly inside the web browser.
iOpus Software GmbH Vendor - Sep 24 2011 at 1:31am
A S @Rick - on the comparison to AutoIt:
At the end of his comments Mathias mentioned "can run in the background" - I'd like to highlight this one, because it is really quite significant. Autoit generally takes complete control of your computer - when it is running, activating windows and entering data etc., you cannot be using your computer for anything else at the same time. In contrast, iMacros programs each run directly on a particular instance of a browser, extracting and saving data, reading HTML fields, and more - all while you fully continue using your computer, including surfing using another instance of the same browser.
Sep 24 2011 at 10:01am
Robert Bull I used to use the excellent WebSite-Watcher to track changes in competitor and customer sites for work, as well as personal-interest software. Then I usually needed to clip at least some of the material from the changed pages to alert colleagues. Can iMacros check differences, as well as automatically download pages and sections?
Sep 25 2011 at 8:07am
David Mitchell Well, I bought the most expensive version of iMacros at full price, not at a discount, purchasing their superior service as part of the deal. I can't get it to run with Internet Explorer, although there's surely a way. I can't get it to log into my GoDaddy email account for more than a day, and I don't think there is a way to do that. MR at iMacros started work on both issues 9/24 and now it's 10/13, and despite two emails to him, no word back since. Maybe he will see this and tell everyone why I didn't get what I paid the big bucks for. Am I experienced? I have a masters in computers and was using the Internet before Al Gore invented it. Maybe I'm not too dumb. Nice product where it works. Maybe tech support is overwhelmed?
