Achieve Better Search Results, Instantly

*** Great News! Puffinware LLC has agreed to extend this deal for another day - Enjoy! ***

Here's the thing about search engines -- the folks out there are doing SEO for their OWN benefit, not YOURS. They want their websites to show up at the top of the page for any given search word or phrase, which doesn't necessarily guarantee that those sites will be the most useful for your own purposes when you're doing a search. Next thing you know, you're deep into six or seven pages of search results, trying to knit together an answer to your query and getting more frustrated with every second that passes. That's why there's iMetaSearch Pro.

iMetaSearch Pro tailors search results to your own research methods! With iMetaSearch Pro, results are compiled from several search engines and presented to you. Nothing new, right? Except with iMetaSearch Pro, you now can mark the first few results with your own personal relevance score!

When you mark a result with your personal relevance score, it causes iMetaSearch Pro to then update and sort the results to more closely align with what you are looking for! The more results you mark, the better idea iMetaSearch Pro gets of what you're seeking. Search for 'Paris', and within a single personal relevance score, iMetaSearch Pro will know if you're looking for Paris Hilton or Paris, France. A few more scores, and iMetaSearch Pro knows you're looking for Paris, Texas. iMetaSearch Pro even sorts results into conceptual groups for an even cleaner and more efficient research experience!

umike Is the iMetaSearch Pro the same as Keyword Tool Winner? Your youtube video shows the same user interface for both software.

John Killeen When iMetaSearch was last on BdJ (October last year), you said that fixing the Google URL issue was a high priority. The current version (5.02) still shows all URLs returned by Google as "google.com".
Mar 24 at 8:12am
Charles Paulson Keyword Tool Winnner resulted from a partnership with another company. It was based on an earlier version of iMetaSearch and was a failed attempt to branch out into the keyword selection software business.

I have updated version 5.02 to fix the Google URL issue that came up during the last BdJ promotion. Try downloading the free version from www.PuffinwareLLC.com/iMetaSearch502.exe and test it yourself.

John Killeen Google URL issue: Thank you for the link. That does solve the problem. Odd, though -- I had updated to 5.02 within the program (Help - Check for Updates) and that update still had the URL issue...
Mar 24 at 12:08pm
Charles Paulson That update had some errors and I have removed it till they get fixed. Use the link above to get the fixed 5.02 version.

Cyrus Masroori Is this compatible with Windows 8?
Mar 24 at 11:00pm
H. H. Hallo,
I´m a buyer of version 4, but have to say that I stopped using the software because the difficulties with german language /google.de and the missing of ability to add own search engines.

1.what´s the current development status of adding own search engines?
I found these answers from your company reading old comments at bdj

"We used to have a menu item for adding new engines, but took it out because no one was using it and some search engines have security based on cookies or other things so it got complicated. I'll put it on the list of possible features and we'll look at it again.
Puffinware LLC Vendor - Feb 20 2011 at 9:43am

In the current version you cannot add your own search engines but that is on the list to consider for future versions.
Puffinware LLC Vendor - Oct 1 2012 at 9:11am"

2. The hardware footprinted online activation with only 2 activations - even at the same machine - can be a great dealbreaker. Perhaps you may consider, what the "just mail to us" means if you have approximaately 80+ programs which need such a procedure - if you´ve ever had a need of reinstalling a complete system under these conditions a software must be really unique and extremely useful, if you still consider buying.

Northwoods Charles,

I installed the above 5.02 update a few minutes ago. The only search engine I can choose is Google, and I can't change the number of results. It's set at 20. Any idea on what I need to change to allow me to make changes to the search engine selection and number of results?
Mar 25 at 4:08am
Charles Paulson Cyrus - iMetaSearch is compatible with Windows 8.

H. H. - In the current version, v5.02, you cannot add your own search engines, but are still considering it for future versions. There are many software vendors that use an activation key to unlock software. I am happy to help with any support issues people may have.

Northwoods - you have downloaded the free version of iMetaSearch. In order to get more results and search engines, you need to purchase an upgrade key. You can do this now from Bits du Jour at half price, $23.50, instead of the normal $47.00. Once you have the key, just click on Help Upgrade and follow the instructions.
Puffinware LLC Vendor - Mar 25 at 5:51am
Northwoods I have the registered version. The About tab shows my serial number. Any other ideas?
Mar 25 at 6:00am
Charles Paulson Northwoods - the serial number and the upgrade key are two different things. Look at Help About and see whether the Status line says Free or Pro. The Free version is limited to Google and 20 results. The Pro version has the other engines and no limit on results.
Puffinware LLC Vendor - Mar 25 at 6:38am
Northwoods The Status is Pro.
Mar 25 at 6:40am
Charles Paulson Can you send me your upgrade key at support@puffinwarellc.com so I can see what's going on offline and get this issue fixed? Thanks.
Puffinware LLC Vendor - Mar 25 at 6:54am
Northwoods Thanks for the email, and resolving my issue. Everything is working great!

Stephen Sieloff can we save search results to spreadsheet or excel/csv file?
Mar 25 at 11:19am
Charles Paulson Yes, to save the search results click on Results - Save Results as CSV File. You will be prompted for a file name and then asked if you want to see the results.

To save the extracted words and phrases click the Words - Export Words as CSV File. Words can be useful for keyword research or for ideas on further search terms.

M M Do I understand correctly that you do NOT distinguish upgrades (to next major version) and updates (to next minor version), so any new version after 12 months requires a payment?
Also, what is the status of Unicode support that was asked about last time?
Mar 25 at 4:52pm
Charles Paulson M M - yes, our policy is that upgrades are free for the 12 months and 50% off after that. Unicode support is on the list of features to consider for future versions.
Puffinware LLC Vendor - Mar 25 at 6:47pm
Emil Kucera Thanks for the update link, I had the same problem as John Killeen, and same fiz applied here.
Mar 25 at 6:50pm
lisba f On how many computers can one user install and use this program?
Mar 26 at 5:12am
Charles Paulson You can use it on 2 different computers, for example a desktop and a laptop at the same time.
Puffinware LLC Vendor - Mar 26 at 5:45am
lisba f Well, then, why on my second laptop, going to Help / Upgrade and entering my upgrade key it says: 'The key is already registered'? and just stays in free edition?
Mar 26 at 5:56am
Charles Paulson Send me your upgrade key at support@puffinwarellc.com and I will see what is happening and fix it.
Puffinware LLC Vendor - Mar 26 at 7:26am
Zoran Paljevic Increasing to 2000 search results will lead you getting blocked by Google, what's some ordinary "red line" to keep?
Mar 26 at 7:29am
Charles Paulson There are a couple of considerations here. One is that google has a upper limit on results returned which I think is 1000 so it makes no sense to go over that. Second is to moderate searches so you're not doing lots of them in a row non-stop.
Puffinware LLC Vendor - Mar 26 at 7:38am
Petr Which search engines does your product use?
Mar 26 at 8:43am
Charles Paulson There are 12 engines divided into 3 classes (academic, general, and news & comments). Academic engines are arxiv, CiteSeerx, GoogleBook, GoogleScholar. General ones are AllTheWeb, Google, Bing, and Yahoo. News & Comments are GoogleBlog, GoogleGroup, GoogleNews, and IceRocket.
Puffinware LLC Vendor - Mar 26 at 9:51am
Stephen Warkentien Can the browser be changed to Chrome, Firefox, etc?
Mar 26 at 4:50pm
Charles Paulson The browser is whatever your default is when you open *.htm files. It's determined by operating system settings, not by iMetaSearch.
