Look no further! No matter how complex your needs, InfoLayout will make it easy to create useful, searchable, taggable, linkable, and reportable catalogs of any size and depth.
InfoLayout is able to automatically extract information from documents, eBooks, audio and video files. It can generate image thumbnails and video previews, retrieve descriptions, create document snippets, and obtain relevant information from zipped archives.
Unlike other disk catalogers, InfoLayout actually indexes your document content. No matter where your documents are located (even if they're in an archive), InfoLayout lets you perform advanced searches using wildcards, phrase searches, and fuzzy searches!
Please note: InfoLayout is able to catalog any file. However, it automatically extracts additional information from all these file types: 7z, arj, bz2, cab, cpio, deb, gz, lzh, rar, rpm, tar, z, zip, bmp, cut, dds, g3, gif, hdr, ico, iff, lbm, jng, jpg, jif, jpe, koa, mng, mp3, CD-Audio, avi, wmv, mpeg,plain-text files, doc, html, ppt, rtf, vsd, wri, and xls.

Hello-- I think the pricing isn't correct here...Download.com lists its regular retail price as $25, not $39? So $5 off isn't very much, is it? http://download.cnet.com/InfoLayout/3000-2248_4-10765284.html?tag=mncol
Gail, occasionally the information on Download.com and other similar download websites is incorrect and/or out of date. Take a look at the TrieTech website (the InfoLayout vendor) -- it lists InfoLayout retail at $39.00. http://www.trietech.com/infolayout.php Best! -r
Does InfoLayout support Vista x64 & Vista x86? Do you plan to support Windows 7 once it is released?
Prasad, Yes, it supports Vista x86, but did not tested on Vista x64. I'm planning to fix all issues on x64 platforms in the nearest future. Of course Windows 7 will be supported. BTW, I will release update during the two weeks with some improvements and fixes related to Vista x86. Regards, Alex.
Great Thanks. In the past I have used software from Sheridan Systems (Disk Cataloger), Elcomsoft (ADC) and ItechCDs (Disc Manager). These old programs seem to have fallen by the wayside. Infolayout software looks much more full featured and I hope that it will last through the next OS cycle. I can try it on Vista x64 and switch back to x86 if there are issues. FYI. You may be able to support the DACAL units. I don't know the size of that market but it is likely a simple interface to track the location of the disk media and send the command to turn the carousel.
Thank you for the suggestion! I will take a closer look on DACAL units. It's interesting idea. Regards, Alex.
I have just downloaded the program to test it out, but the "Evaluation" button is grayed out. All I can do is Purchase, Enter the Registration Code or Exit. So I cannot evaluate it ...Too bad. It looked interesting. Peter
Is it able to index the content of PDF files?
Peter, It may happen if you installed InfoLayout on this PC earlier and its demo period is finished. You can test the program on another PC. Regards, Alex.
Subscriber D, Yes it's able. You just need to install PDF IFilter and turn on PDF indexing. Regards, Alex Nosov.
When scanning some partitions of an external harddisk and removing and later re-inserting it to the system, the partitons often get other drive-letters assigned. Perhaps their contents or even size or volume-name has been changed over the time. Can InfoLayout handle this somehow (or can the user tell the software about the changes)?
Yes, InfoLayout will track drive's type and volume during catalog update or exploring actual file. I did not implemented manual re-assigning drive in catalog yet but I can do this easily if you need this feature.
Good Question, Michael R! I hope we get an answer to it! Like you (apparently), I store a lot of massive collections (such as ripped CDs, and movies, and etc.) on external hard drives USB drives, or NAS boxes, or on a network drive on a server, for example. And these drives, when atteched to a PC, might sometimes be assigned a different drive letter than they had the last time. Or, the network drives and NAS drives often are mapped using different letters, on different computers. So, I wonder also how this software copes with this.
I just re-read my comment above and want to clarify it: InfoLayout tracks volume label, drive letter, drive type. If it determines that drive letter is changed but volume label is not (and drive's type is similar), it uses the drive without a question. Otherwise it warns user about the change. In any way, manual assigning can be added easily.
Just what I was looking for. Unfortunately kept on crashing with 'improper arguments' dialogue boxes
Please, send me step-by-step procedure to reproduce the issue to support@trietech.com. The version 2.5 is done on 99%. I will include the fix in this version and release it by the end of the next week.
Could I still buy v2.5 at the discounted price of $19.50? Obviously. I would like to be able to test the fix first - for both our benefits g! Please reply buy email. Guy
Why not to buy now? The serial number will work for all following minor releases including 2.5. Bits Du Jour offers great opportunity! :)
"Why not buy now?" Are you serious LOL? I'm not in the habit of buying software that crashes on my system! I have to see it work first.
Is there a secure encryption-possibility for the ouptut of data-files in 2.5 (or in planned future 2.x-releases)? Else it would perhaps make not such sense to scan encrypted devices (e.g. TrueCrypt-devices)...
Michael, I've got your request but sorry, I cannot promise to add this functionality in the near future. I will consider about this again after finishing already planned functionality. If you have other requests, please contact me directly at support@trietech.com
I note that is is still Saturday November 28th 2009 but your web page says "Sorry, you've missed this deal". Too bad your server cannot detect my local time and honor your committment on the price:(
Robert, please contact with me at support@trietech.com. The discount coupon is still alive.
Hi! Some how with the holidays I missed this offer!!! Two questions... 1. Can I still get this offer? 2. Is the license per computer or per user? I have 1 desktop and several laptops and I'm the only user. Thanks! Nick
