The old pen-and-notepad approach to note-taking just can't keep up with the rapid pace of information and technology. Sure, you can try to scribble info down on a stack of index cards or sticky notes, but even if you carry all of them with you all of the time, how long does it really take for you to find a specific bit of information right when you need it?
ndxCards brings a whole new level of organization and utility to the age-old concept of note-taking. With ndxCards, you'll be able to record, retrieve, and recap all of your knowledge in whichever form you choose. Just tag, archive, and classify your bits of info using keywords or other common elements like sources, subjects, and authors.
Later, when you need to recall a specific fact, ndxCards quickly searches through your notes according to keywords and filters that you specify, producing exactly what you need, exactly when you need it. But it gets better -- note cards can be pulled in a variety of formats, including outlines, flash cards, or citations.
Using ndxCards' powerful outlining tools, you'll be able to craft outlines far faster than you ever could with a word processor. But then again, you can also export your entire note-populated outlines straight to Microsoft Word or to PowerPoint!
Heck, comprehensive printing features mean that you can even bridge the 20th and 21st century by printing your notes out as index cards to take to your next presentation!
Hello, besides the missing product icon, I have some questions: - can the version of bitsdujour be upgraded the same way as the 'normal' versions? - the current version is of December 2007; what are your plans for future versions? Thanks.
I gave this a try and it is an interesting and able application. However, I had to chase the little box around with my mouse as it tried to avoid contact with it. In the process it knocked my desktop icons around (very rude). Though I eventually won the contest, it would be irritating if I were trying to get some work done. I never found a way to change the default color of the notes. Not saying it can't be done, just that I was not successful in finding out how to accomplish it and, since I dislike read moreglaring yellow and don't want to take the time to change the color for every note, I gave up. Maybe next time.
If you buy the Academic version during the promotion, you can upgrade at a later time to the Superset just as other customers can. All the versions will enjoy a special discount during the promotion. Please write to support@ndxcards.com for any questions about the software, including how to change note color, and about future releases.
The program seemed to be exactly what I needed until I ran into some bugs. Two really aggravating bugs made me decide not to buy the program: (1) Wherever you dock the program panel, your desktop is useless. My icons were pushed completely across the screen, and when I tried to move them back, I discovered that part of my screen was completely blocked. Nothing will move into that area, and all other programs that I opened refused to occupy that area, so I could not maximize any of my program screens. read moreIt is very annoying to have a strip of desktop that is off limits, especially since some of my icons have totally disappeared, and I suspect that are behind the blank space. Uninstalling the program did not clear up the problem, but I hope rebooting will. (2) While constructing a detailed outline in Projects, I found it impossible to keep the outline moving once I had clicked on a line. Clicking on a line (not to edit it) stops the outlining process completely. I had to begin my outline again, and several times lines would overwrite each other, making me have to hit the undo button and try retyping until it "took." Finally, when printing the outline, I found that the line on which the cursor was resting would not print. There is no way to click the cursor away from the outline, so one line is always highlighted, and that line refused to print, leaving a gap in my outline. I'm sure there are probably other bugs besides these. I loved the professional look of the program, and it is a very useful program, but I can't deal with it in this condition. The control panel on the right is intended to auto-hide or dock to the edge based on your convenience. In fact, you can close it as all the features are available from the menu that pops up from the tray icon. You can change the settings of the panel to attach to any edge of the screen, or even free float. It appears that you had (perhaps accidentally) attached it to the right edge and were not able to remove it. The outlining tool operates in a quick-typing mode, restructuring mode or read morean item editing mode. When you are in the quick typing mode you can add to the outline easily, but when you click elsewhere on the outline, it switches to the restructuring mode where you can move items up/down/left/right or drag/drop to rearrange the outline. You can switch back to the typing mode using the toolbar or even a keyboard shortcut. It is unfortunate that you did not contact support during your trial to resolve the problems you were experiencing.
does it use intelligent algorythms to discriminate bugs, viruses, spywares, etc. and only copy OS, programs and data? or does it do a dumb mirror job?! Soft Rescue Pro that was offered here about a month ago, (that I saw on the deal day but stupidly missed the deadline doing other stuff away from the computer), is supposed to discriminate bad stuff from real code and data. How does it compare to it?! I'd really rather avoid migrating bugs and malware!!!!! (and read moreI bet everybody is like me ; unless they are completely, absolutely and totally sure their system is 100% bugs and malware free !!)
HOW did my comment end up on the wrong comment area?? When I realized this, I then pressed on the Page back button and clearly the URL is : http://www.bitsdujour.com/software/diskcopy-and-clean/#comments Really strange and sorry for the mess.
