. zyria Will this allow me to rearrange pages inside a PDF as well?

My primary requirement is to merge PDF files and then rearrange the pages into a new order.

Glen Hilton Hello Algo, is there a comparison chart available for standard and Pro versions and would an upgrade offer be available on deal day. Also, the Program User policy seems to differ from the BDJ policy listed .

Activation policy Pro ED. I was unable to locate the standard ed trial.
"2. Our Software Licence's are Single Computer Based works for Life-Time on the same Computer."

Does this mean that the licence can never be transferred to an upgraded PC or laptop owned by the same registered user.? I'm not concerned about the giveaway restrictions only if a paid upgrade version was purchased.

If you would clarify these couple of questions it would be appreciated.

The app appeared to work quickly and efficiently.

Leslie Milburn A couple of issues:

(1) This utility requires .NET 2.0 (why oh why for such a simple utility)

(2) On Windows Vista if you choose the option to run it immediately after the installation then it indicates that it is NOT ACTIVATED. So I went through the activation process where they require the email address used for the order – then I get a screen telling me they will check the email address to make sure I purchased it (I cannot remember the exact message). I have yet to get any notification to that email address. Anyway, I accidentally discovered that when I exited and went back in again it was now activated. So I am not sure if the "online" activation process did the trick or simply exiting did.

(3) This utility requires Administrator permission to run on Windows Vista. As a developer myself I really wonder why because it is a simple utility and all these years down the track surely they should have analysed and overcome the restrictions set by UAC.

(4) The User interface is a bit of a disaster. Initially quite confusing because I added a PDF file only to click the Protect tab and find it was not there. You need to click the tab FIRST and then add the PDF file. So the UI really needs some work.

(5) When I got my notification from BitsDuJour it says this:
"Please note folks, you've got to install this application TODAY if you want to take advantage of the 100% discount. If you wait till tomorrow your license will have already reverted back into trial mode. So hurry up!!!"

Why must I install the software today for activation purposes. I would prefer to be given the option to get an activation code via email so if I need to wipe the harddrive I can reinstall it again. This is one of my main complaints against GAOTD - please rethink this for the future.

But after all of that, the good news is that after testing on a couple of PDF files - it does do what it claims.

Nico Westerdale Leslie, The reason this developer only allows installations today is very simple, piracy! Unfortunately it's so prevalent in our industry that developers have to take steps to protect their products.
BitsDuJour Admin - Mar 30 2012 at 6:18am
Leslie Milburn Nico I have no problem with activation at all and appreciate the need for it. My complaint is that I will not be able to reinstall the software at a later date because of the type of activation methodology these developers have chosen.

Off the top of my head, I think that providing an unlock code that is based upon your email address and name is a far better option and would allow for reinstallation at a later date.
Mar 30 2012 at 7:33am
Gass Deckery Would like to compair the giveaway version to the pro version but their web site dosent offer this, infact when one clicks on the products tab on their website this version is not listed. Only clicking on the website from this offer here do you see the information about this software. Is the upgrade offer to pro version good anytime or today only. Please compair the two versions for us. Thanks

Pete Elliott-Green The BitsDuJour Software Receipt e-mail I received when purchasing today's offer does not have an actual link in it to obtain the software despite saying "Download the version above ad install it."

Hence how can I get an install this software. It seems it MUST be done today given the comment on the top of the bitsdujour page :-

"Please note folks, you've got to install this application TODAY if you want to take advantage of the 100% discount. If you wait till tomorrow your license will have already reverted back into trial mode. So hurry up!!!"

I'd appreciate if you could help me get this software and get it properly licenced / activated today. Please send me further instructions.

Thank you,
Pete

Ahmed Fahmy was not sent the link for the offer, what is it
Mar 30 2012 at 12:43pm
_*_ I understand it is free software, although I also would not install today knowing that I am planning to reinstall Windows in about 1-2 months.

I am not sure how limiting the install/activation to today only is different from install/activation in the say a month or year from now, or anytime in the future?

Anyway nice to see free stuff, but I will pass.
Mar 30 2012 at 12:56pm
Ahmed Fahmy where is the link to download and install as I only received an email to ugrade to the pro version
Mar 30 2012 at 1:11pm
Mary Wilson Yes, where is the link for this. I just my link and it says it costs $9.95 when it is suppose to be free? So why are you advertising for free and sending me a bill?
Mar 30 2012 at 2:22pm
Emil Kucera I also got only an e-mail saying "Thank you for downloading PDF Protector,Merger and Splitter software. You can Upgrade this software to PRO..." but no link for the download. A scam to harvest e-mail addresses? Or just a nice gesture not thought out properly? The only download on their website is for the Pro version.
So what is going on?
When i tried their page for the second time, it said 'you already purchased, click to have the email re-sent", but then no e-mail came at all, not even a repeat of the first one.
If all AlgoLogic can do is bait us for the pro version, they can keep their software.
Mar 30 2012 at 2:30pm
James Kenney I am having the same problem as Pete Ellott-Green.
I have tried FOUR e-mail address and only one of them got any e-mail at all, And that one was an offer to upgrade.
Mar 30 2012 at 2:31pm
Michael Woodruff I also have not received any email at all, with or without a download link.
Mar 30 2012 at 2:56pm
Nico Westerdale Please note that the email may take up to 10 minutes to arrive, but it will arrive! If anyone has any problems then please contact us.
BitsDuJour Admin - Mar 30 2012 at 3:12pm
Nico Westerdale Can you guys also check your spam folders, it might be going to junk mail, but we're currently seeing no delay in our system, I just checked.
BitsDuJour Admin - Mar 30 2012 at 3:19pm
James Kenney ALL of the e-mails just came in a few minutes ago... Looks like they fixed the problem.
Mar 30 2012 at 3:19pm
Nico Westerdale Glad to hear it James!
BitsDuJour Admin - Mar 30 2012 at 3:19pm
Mary Wilson You have answered the e-mails that asked about where the e-mail was, but you have not addressed the problem over the price. Where is our link to the free software.
Mar 30 2012 at 3:44pm
Nico Westerdale Mary, you're mistaken! You will receive two emails, the one from BitsDuJour has a link to the free version. I'll resend yours.

AlgoLogic Vendor - Mar 30 2012 at 4:02pm
Mary Wilson You still should not have decived people with the first e-mail. It makes you look very guilty and very untrust worthy. Not sure I would even upgrade due to my perceived deciption. I looked at what the Pro version offers and there is nothing there for me as all I need is something to stich together PDF files occassionally. Really wished it stiched together JPG files to make a PDF file as this is what I need at this time.
Mar 30 2012 at 4:16pm
Algo Logic Mary Wilson,

Thank you for your reply,we appreciate it,but we really don't know that so many people did not receive the Download Link.

Thank You.
AlgoLogic Vendor - Mar 30 2012 at 4:23pm
Nico Westerdale Mary, our apologies, we certainly don't like to play any games here at BitsDuJour! In fact the email from us should arrive first!
BitsDuJour Admin - Mar 30 2012 at 4:30pm
Emil Kucera Received now from BdJ - thank you!
Mar 30 2012 at 4:30pm
Nico Westerdale If anyone else didn't get their email please let us know and we'll resend it!
BitsDuJour Admin - Mar 30 2012 at 4:37pm
_*_ OK, I was reading the policy and read this...

"Email license activation is required with a hardware footprint, and unlimited installations per footprint."

Does that mean I can download for free, install, and then uninstall, and hold off reinstalling until any time I choose in the future?

If it is unlimited installs I should be able to install/uninstall as many times as I would like so long as it is on the same machine correct?

This would allow me to install/uninstall, reformat my hard drive a month or two from now and reinstall; correct?
Mar 30 2012 at 4:42pm
Mary Wilson Does this stitch jpg and other files together to make PDF.
Mar 30 2012 at 4:48pm
Emil Kucera To the developers:
To make this really useful, implement
1.drag-and-drop - files into the program and moving files up and down (additionaly to the AltCtrl)
2.allow to type in the output field directly
3.highlight some and merge/split only the highlighted files
Mar 30 2012 at 5:03pm
Algo Logic Hello Emil,

Thank you for your feedback,we will add these feature in our software .

Thank you.

Lazar Voin Great product, Thanks!
Mar 30 2012 at 5:24pm
Mary Wilson Are you planning to answer my question about whether the Pro version will merge JPG files or not and if it does not does one of your other programs do this. Know you saw the note as you answered a question under my question. If not, I will purchase the A-PDF merger program which I have used in the past and love. It makes it much easier to study when I can batch the programs together.
Mar 30 2012 at 5:50pm
Algo Logic Hello Mary,

The Pro Version can not merge the JPG FIles, but it can merge the PDF files which contains the JPG File,PRO version can extract the image files of all formats from the PDF files.

Thank You.
AlgoLogic Vendor - Mar 30 2012 at 6:03pm
_*_ Algo Logic, would you mind answering my question above about unlimited installs, after today, please?
Mar 30 2012 at 6:25pm
Algo Logic Hello M B,

If you install this after after the Giveaway, the software will automatically reverted back into trial mode and the reason is already given by "Nico Westerdale"

"The reason this developer only allows installations today is very simple, piracy! Unfortunately it's so prevalent in our industry that developers have to take steps to protect their products."

Thank You.
AlgoLogic Vendor - Mar 30 2012 at 6:41pm
_*_ Thank you,
So, the unlimited installs statement is not accurate in the policy tab.
I am glad I asked. I must say though, while the product is free, there are clearly strings attached, since it does not match the stated policy, and it appears it is free for the first install only.
Thanks again for the response.
Mar 30 2012 at 7:56pm
Nico Westerdale M B, Thanks for pointing this out, we need to update the Policy section with some 100% off specific terminology. We'll be getting to that soon.
BitsDuJour Admin - Mar 30 2012 at 8:02pm
Algo Logic Hello M B,

We Think BDJ have clearly mentioned about this.

"Please note folks, you've got to install this application TODAY if you want to take advantage of the 100% discount. If you wait till tomorrow your license will have already reverted back into trial mode. So hurry up!!!"

Thank You.

J S Well I've done everything according to ALL the instructions and comments and i've installed the program but when the program is running i have NO idea if it has activated properly or not.

Question: IS there an ABOUT feature so I can see if it is activated or not (because the HELP button top left corner next to file doesn't have ABOUT in its menu)?

Reason I ask is because when i went to install the program my firewall did NOT ask me to allow it access to the internet to phone home and activate
Mar 30 2012 at 11:17pm

Right ?

Brent Coughenour It seems someone is crooked here I am still waiting for the download and it still has not come sent 3 emails now it is over and we get nothing they dont care but when i get done publishing all the details and evryone else problems with them (no Names) except theirs on the 27 blogs i run plus facebook and twitter about them they will get it straight, they know the link did not work and they did not fix it the day it was offered and some did not get email because of the people new they would not have to do it. So crooked

Danny Why is my comment from yesterday without any reason removed?
Nov 14 2012 at 9:13am
Zee Uptwist SPAM WARNING!

AlgoLogic, the developer of PDF Protector and several others here on BDJ still sends me between 5 and 7 SPAM emails per week. This has been going on for many months!

They will not respond to any of my email requests to be removed from their spam list. They just seem to send even more.

I never even installed this software. Downloading it was enough to get on the list. They'll get your email address through BDJ.

Do Not Download unless you love SPAM.

I wish BDJ would investigate this and offer some help here.
Dec 7 2012 at 4:50pm
Roger Thomasson Apologies to you and everybody else receiving SPAM from AlgoLogic. We're not sure what's going on, but after repeated failed attempts at contact at this point we can only assume.

Unfortunately we can't remove your names from their list ourselves, but we'll do what we can: suspend all future partnerships, contact their ISP, and contact our shared eCommerce provider.

Again, so sorry about this. Rest assured that we do not tolerate this type of behavior from our vendor partners.

Now it looks like AlgoLogic is trying to compete with you (BDJ).

Below is a copy of their latest spam that I received yesterday. I won't bother you any more with this but maybe this will help others as well.

Thanks again, Roger.
