Does it mean the "usual" installation of:
- 1 desktop
- 1 laptop
BUT....... only one of the 2 can ever be used at a time?

This is indeed a desktop software to be used on one computer. You can activate up to three times, in case you need to reformat your computer.

Chris The fine print says

Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for 1 month.

That makes no Sense as most software is updated once a year, if even that, so just a 1 month upgrade policy is basically giving no update policy.

I will pass on this as I have the best software for this that came with a handheld scanner. You can choose a part of the screen, web page, etc., or a window, browser. It can do lots of things with the output such as save it to the clipboard, a txt file, Excel, email, file.

It is almost 100% correct if not 100% correct at what it thinks stuff says.

I also have an expensive program I found online that supposedly can read handwriting as well as machine print, but it is a hit or miss program. It also lets you change what it thinks it says to the correct thing and it is supposed to be able to learn from the changes.

Cary Adams You need to rethink having a demo. I use PaperPort and am looking for a replacement for technical reasons. As much as I like to consider your product, I'm not going to hand over even the discounted payment offered here for the purpose of evaluating your program.

The video "demo" on your site is completely useless. That might illustrate how YOU use the product, but it does not address the different ways in which I may need to use the product. And the fact that you have to "register" just to watch the "demo" video is beyond reason.

I also noticed that there are many "missing" features available only on your "Business" product. For example, indexing, watch folders, cloud connectors, and batch scanning using blank paper inserts, are features available on PaperPort's "standard" product.

Please offer fully functional working demo, even if it is limited by date, number of pages per document, or watermark.

The 1 month free upgrade policy only is available should IRIS was to launch V15 within 30 days, which is not going to be the case. Updates are available on an ongoing basis at no additional charge for the Pro version.

1. I believe that this is the same OCR software that came, in a free/lite version, with the HP 8600 Premium printer we purchased last year. Does this sound correct to you?

2. If we purchase and install this upgrade today, will the printer (scanner) recognize the new software and make use of it rather automatically?

3. May we arrange to pay by sending a prepaid money order, or cash, or via some cash-based system such as PayNearMe? (I've also written off to your customer service department regarding this last question.

We bundle Readiris on a world wide basis with most HP scanners so the answer is YES to question # 1.

The software will install as a stand alone. You will simply scan from Readiris, not from the scanner.

You really need to order through the available methods off our site.

VLM Actually, for religious and moral reasons, I need NOT to order using any of those methods. And I would appreciate your not presuming to tell me what I "need".

I will wait and see whether customer service offers anything else. I have had companies turn on a "money order" option at a payment processor, implement PayNearMe, etc. before, so I always hold that it's possible. :)

Like others, I went through the "buy now" ritual only to have a 0% discount. Good way to lose credibility and damage your brand perception. Why don't you say "US only offer..."

Brenton Robinson I am extremely disappointed that this software is available at the discounted price only in certain regions. If software is advertised on BDJ the discount should be available to everyone. The software vendor and BDJ need to look into this. People are wasting their time on something that is ultimately not available.

I tried that link a few days ago. All I got was a link to some almost useless videos about the program, not an actual link to download the program to trial it for 15 or 30 days like most programs offered here on BJD. I will pass on this offer unless they at least give a trial version. I will not buy it first, and then try to get a refund within their 30 day period.

FWIW, the bundled version of the Readiris software that comes bundled with our HP printer/scanner does seem to work quite nicely. Bit we haven't challenged it much, either.
