Yes, you can use menu File - Deploy to USB to copy it to a flash-drive.

You can also keep it synchronized online via Dropbox or SkyDrive, as explained here: http://www.dextronet.com/...h-dropbox/

K Anderson If I click on the link above to get the the professional
version for 50% off, it shows the regular price as $114.95 with
the 50% off price of $57.47.
But.....
on your website if I click on buy button it takes me to
the selection page which shows the regular price for
the professional version as $89.95. If we take 50%
off that price it would be $44.98.

Are there two different versions of the professional version?
One that is $114.95 and the other that is $89.95?

Jiri Novotny YitzY Berlin: We don't have offline mobile apps yet. We have the companion mobile web-app that works on Android, but it's not yet fully finished and I wouldn't recommend it just yet. We are working hard on finishing this.

Kit Kagaya I understand that we need to pay for future upgrades, but why do we need to turn off the automatic check for updates? Updates are not available at all?

Jiri Novotny Richard: Ultimate is not part of this promotion. However, even without the Add-In, you can create tasks from emails easily with Drag and Drop: http://www.dextronet.com/...o-do-list/

Kit: For our paying customers, all minor updates are free. The giveaway version is with no updates at all.

g hudak when do you enter "options" and disable "automatic updates" so you get the full licensed SW and not the trial version? I downloaded it twice and both were different. How can I be sure I got the full non-expiring version?

daniel paner Definitely look at the small print as there are licensing and functional limitations that you don't find in other similar programs. Especially when you look at the limitations that are placed on how many computers you can use this from. I don't think it is a big limitation with this version, but is for the others. Price is also higher than competing products.

That said, it's a strong, well-polished work/task manager with common-sense and advanced capabilities. I've been using Ultimate for about three months and still find myself getting value from it. The lack of a dedicated android app is missed. I don't doubt it will arrive at some time, and I don't doubt there's going to be an added fee to use it.

Definitely grab this 'bits' version today and give it a try.

Richard Lepoutre Thanks for the quick reply. Still trying to understand the net difference between Professional and Ultimate. Your "difference" list seems to indicate that the Outlook is unique to Ultimate but you have indicated otherwise, right?
Apr 22 2013 at 6:34am Copy Link
0
Jiri Novotny G Hudak: That option is actually "Automatic check for updates". Updates are never installed automatically - but if you don't disable the option, the program might inform you about a new version, and you would download it, and the license you obtain today on BDJ wouldn't work anymore.

Jiri Novotny Richard: The differences between editions are explained here: http://www.dextronet.com/...e/editions

All editions allow you to Drag and Drop emails into Swift To-Do List to create tasks from them. Ultimate also has a dedicated Outlook Add-In, which makes this even faster.

YES, the program has an Assigned To field, so you can assign tasks to people. However, the Assigned To field is only in Professional and Ultimate.

Richard Lepoutre Does "Assigned To" pull from one's Name and Address file or do you have to create name records ad hoc?
Apr 22 2013 at 7:24am Copy Link

Jiri Novotny In the Professional/Ultimate edition, you can simply use menu Manage - Contacts to edit the contacts. The field then uses these contacts.

VLM 1. Pro is also licensed per computer, one computer (or two?) per license, correct?

2. Activation method for Pro? (hardware footprint, key entry, etc.)

3. Regarding Pro ... how close might we be to a version 9?

Thanks!
Apr 22 2013 at 8:02am Copy Link
0
Jiri Novotny VLM: Yes, all our products are licensed per computer. We also offer the advantageous 1-user-3-PC-Pack which costs the same as one license and a half, and allows you to use the software on up to 3 computers. The 1-user-3-PC-Pack is not part of this promotion, but you can contact us at supportdextronet.com to get a deal on it too during the promo.

Activation is just a matter of entering in your license code. You don't need Internet connection.

Version 9 won't happen anytime soon. Possibly by mid/late 2014, but I can't tell exactly yet. We are currently fully focused on developing the sync/team/mobile functionality.

Mary Wilson I thought about getting this to try it. Unfortnately, I will not as they say I must like it on Facebook. If the price of this a Like on Face book, then I will decline the offer as I only like a very limited amount of stuff and use my "Like" with Facebook with a lot of caution.

DroidLuvr @Mary Wilson: BDJ always offers an alternative to a "Like" on Facebook. If you try it again, you will see a sentence below the Facebook like section that offers a simple and very quick questionnaire that doesn't even require any personal information at all! I don't like Facebook either, but BDJ always offers the questionnaire as an alternative! Check it out :-) as this offer today is great.

@any skeptics!!: Check this deal out today - it's just a fantastic program that improves all the time. I've been using this for several months and have since upgraded to Pro and then to Ultimate!! It is an awesome program that you will find more and more helpful as you explore it and use it more! Also, the developer is extraordinarily responsive and has TONS of help and examples, along with a great helpful blog for time saving and productivity help!!

P.S. NO connection to developer; just a long-time BDJ customer and a VERY happy user of this software!!

mix624 Ok, so I bought the Pro version. Why do you use a payment processor that doesnt make it possible to download at once ?
I used paypal and thought that I could download it at once.
It is NOT a positive shopping experience since I have a lot I need to get organized for work now. While most digital products I buy online is instant access when using paypal you stand out from the crowd.

I called the payment processor company and they put me on hold and they will answer soon. Then instead they asked me to leave phone number, email etc so they could get back to me within 1 biz day. And I a m calling from Europe. Not smooth...
Hope the software is good....

Kelly Major I am *only* interested in the Ultimate version. Do I understand correctly that you are offering no discount whatsoever on that version at this time?

If that is the case it seems like a bad idea. I would have purchased the ultimate version at almost any discount today but I don't even care to install the version you are giving away for free.

I guess you won't be generating any revenue here today, from me anyway.

Jiri Novotny Kelly: Get the free Home license (or any other license), enter it into Swift To-Do List to turn it into a full version, and then use menu Help - Buy Upgrades or Extra Licenses. That will allow you to upgrade to a higher edition or 1-user-3-PC-Pack for just the price difference.

Alternatively, you can also purchase any upgrade from our online wizard: http://www.dextronet.com/...ist/wizard

Tim Parsons I have a license for v7 Pro. I have already decided that I can't afford the (in my view, overpriced) upgrade price to v8 Pro. If I were to update to this version (v8 Home) would I lose more features and functionality than I would gain?
Apr 23 2013 at 1:38am Copy Link
0
Jiri Novotny Hi Tim, the Home edition has much less features than the Professional edition, so it probably would be a downgrade for you. It's not yet possible to install a portable version directly.

Elizabeth Bright Having been making through the conversation and clarifications or upgrade eligibility on bought vs free and options for getting Ultimate, I wanted to explain it as far as I can see in hopes it helps others.

PLEASE know, I do not have any connection with either company here. Just a BDJ follower who's trying to help others feel sure of what they are getting/buying. If I have any of this information wrong, PLEASE correct me and my apologies for creating any confusion, if so.
These are all subtotals as far as the Shopping Cart pages. I don't know if more costs may get incurred for individuals (taxes?), probably not, but just being clear.

A) If we obtain the free Home version, we will have a great free tool, but no access to upgrades.

B) If we buy a license of the Pro version through this BDJ deal, we will be allowed to accessed upgrades and it is $44.97. The upgrade calculator then outlines to upgrade from a single license of Pro to the 1for3 ULTIMATE licensing (for those of us who have multiple computers and use Outlook) is $110.
The total cost for BDJ customers then for a 1user-3PCs Ultimate Edition is $154.97.

To buy the same licensing from the website directly or any other day, is $199.95, so we are getting a discount even on this product.

C) Buying 2 licenses of Pro does not actually reduce the cost of upgrading to Ultimate, either for just two licenses or to the 1user-3PC option for a SINGLE user. Obviously if you have multiple users to licenses, then you need to follow that, but remember it will still be a discount in the end today for BDJ per purchase.

I hope this helps clarify questions for others like me who really want the Ultimate version, but wasn't sure how all these paths would fit together for the best approach.
Thank you!

Bernhard @Elizabeth

My calculation would be: Get the free Home (worth $44.95). Upgrade to Ultimate (1 User) for the difference $105 ($149.95 - $44.95).

Total Ultimate 8: $105.

For a new user this could be worth consideration (albeit very, very expensive).

An old user with Ultimate 7 license would in fact have to pay $119.95 (a 20% discount) for an upgrade to Ultimate 8. Certainly a no-go.

Daniel Gaudet Will you offer a 50% discount on ultimate like Professional?

How about a 60% on the 1 user 3 PC Ultimate?

Also, what's the policy to transfer a license in the future to another PC?

Thanks!
Apr 23 2013 at 8:10am Copy Link
0
Elizabeth Bright @Bernhard Yes, you are right. A single user upgrade to a single user is definitely cheaper than the scenario I outlined.
I didn't mean to imply I was laying out the pricing that would fit everyone's needs and scenarios. This particular one had just been mentioned or asked about by more than one other person already in the conversation, so I was trying to help clarify that information.

I guess I should have added another disclaimer of my own calculations that I am one of those who has a Home PC, Work PC and a laptop, so while I may not choose to install on all devices, I would install on at least two of them, and I am a new user, so the 1User-3PC option was the most appropriate for me (and apparently I wasn't alone in this).

Personally, I tend to assume obtaining upgrades under deal sites will be trickier, if it's even allowed, so I hadn't been considering that scenario, nor would I have enough information to even try. (Again, I am *not* associated with BDJ or Dextronet, just a fellow deal hunter).

Other people in the conversation history had mentioned looking for a similar set up, and there had already been a few back and forth messages, so that's what I was trying to clear up. I hope I was able to be helpful to someone at least. Thank you!

Jiri Novotny Daniel: You can transfer your license to other computer any time you need, as many times as you need. It's not a problem.

You can email us at supportdextronet.com if you want something else other than Home or Pro. Or, as Elizabeth said, you can get the free Home, then upgrade it for the price difference.

Jason Roberts Some thoughts from a very satisfied STDL 8 Ultimate user...

I've been using the Ultimate version for just over a year now and I'm definitely glad I made the investment! I felt it was a bit pricey back then, but since then it has greatly improved my life and I consider the price worth every penny. I can't put a price on the peace of mind it has brought me.

I manage both my business and my personal life with it. The software is very easy to customize, and over time I've tweaked the settings to work perfectly for my needs. I dump EVERYTHING I need to do into it, organized by various lists in the tree hierarchy, and then use filters to show me just the tasks I need to focus on today and in the near future (two weeks out). I also have a few recurring reminders for things that I typically don't remember to do.

Jiri also has a wonderful book that I highly recommend which provides a very simple and effective method to using STDL. He has also been VERY responsive to bugs, suggestions and questions that I've emailed him over the past year. I have had nothing but a very positive experience from using STDL and the support from Dextronet.
