Louis H Technically speaking, there is a discount of sorts for the Extended version via the upgrade path once you own the Express version.

$19 now opens up the option, at any time in the future, to upgrade to the extended version at around 47% off. (which actually fits my own budget needs at the moment)

Still.... having the discount available for the extended version upfront would have been nicer.

Those upgrade prices do not make it worth the purchase for me at this time.

Edit: that sounds way too negative! :)

What I meant to convey is that it is not worth purchasing the Express version, even at this discount, at this time as the elements of the program I would actually use are the animation features in the Extended version. At some point in the future I may indeed purchase the Extended version, but for now the upgrade discount is not enough for me to buy the Express version at this time.

M B Correct me if I am wrong, but buying today at 51% off then upgrading via the official site means a savings of $16 total, off the base price of $139? If this is the case, I would rather wait and hope for a better sale in the future.

Mike G I've been fascinated by fractal geometry since Mandelbrot's work was popularized in the 1970's. Ultra Fractal is one of the best tools I've ever seen for rendering fractal images. Powerful, yet easy to learn with the excellent tutorial.
