Acronis True Image Home 2010 (With Plus Pack Add-on)

Complete and Total Backup of Your Computer!

Today's Acronis True Image promotion also includes the True Image Plus Pack add-on -- a $29.99 value! If you're looking for an incredible backup package at a once-in-a-lifetime price, don't miss out on this deal!

Think of your computer as a big battleship, cruising along the open waters. Now think of all of the hazards that lurk, unseen, just below the surface of the ocean that we call the internet. These are the minefields and torpedoes that can penetrate your hull and send your entire operation to a watery doom: viruses, corrupt files, bad driver updates, failed hard drives. The worst part? You never see it coming - one day your computer works, the next day, it won't boot. Beep, beep.

You need a plan. Acronis True Image Home 2010 provides this plan, creating a precise copy of your entire hard drive. In the event of catastrophic failure, you can restore everything to the way it was with just a click of the mouse! It's even faster with individual files - say you do something silly like overwrite an important term paper with a blank document (yes, I've been there), with Acronis True Image Home 2010 you can restore that single file and save yourself hours of rewriting! The choice is yours - backup the entire drive, specific files or folders, or everything but specific files and folders.

If you're really paranoid, you can even make a backup of your backup, and keep your backup's backup as a regular file or compressed ZIP or TIB archive file (which, by the way, is fully text searchable). With Acronis True Image Home 2010, you can create simultaneous archives to your hard drive as well as an external USB drive! Your backups can also be stored on a hidden partition, so no one can steal your archive.

Now there's no need to panic when your computer won't boot. Acronis True Image Home 2010 gives you the ability to boot from your backup, just by pressing F11. With its convenient "set and forget" functionality, you only need to set up Acronis True Image Home 2010 once, and you're continuously protected without further ado!

The Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack: is an add-on module for Acronis True Image Home 2010 that features numerous enhancements for advanced home users. It includes the flexibility to restore files, applications and an operating system to dissimilar hardware as well as providing support for dynamic disks and Microsoftr Windows Preinstallation Environments (WinPE).

Version alert! Here's a taste of what's new in Acronis True Image Home 2010:

  • Acronis Online BackupT:Optional online storage services are available for automatic backup over the internet.
  • Acronis Nonstop BackupT: Automatically create incremental backups every five minutes.
  • Virtual Hard Disk Support: Convert Acronis' backup images (.tib) into virtual hard disk files(.vhd) and vice versa. Full compatibility for Microsoft Windows 7 backup!
  • New, More Powerful Scheduler: The new scheduler expands the amount of scheduling options available. Use the new calendar view to build schedules and tasks. Suspend and enable tasks, specify dates to run tasks, and copy tasks to new dates.

Michael R. I am about to buy a new XP-laptop to replace my old laptop, being about 5 years old. Do I understand it right, that with your PlusPack, I am able to transfer the boot-partition to my new laptop and I can realy boot from this? This would help me soo much, because I would really hate to reinstall all my programs...

Some month ago I bought TrueImageHome 2010 on BDJ. This time without your PlusPack AddOn. Because it's probably not possible just to buy the PlusPack - is it? - is it possible to transfer the license of the old buy to another name?

Stephen Cohen 1. Any additional discounts for owners of True Image Home, ver. 11?
2.  Is ver. 2010 compatible with backup files created with Home ver. 11?
3.  Will Ver. 11 and Plus Pack run on Win XP SP2?

Thank you!

Joshua Cowan I'm using Macrium Reflect (full version) + Mozy on my home desktop right now, but I need a solution for my other home computer(s). It seems that using Acronis TIH 2010 + Acronis Online Backup might be a good option.  If I buy a license today, can I expect any discount on subsequent license purchases (even if it's not 69%)?
Jun 9 2010 at 6:31pm
Andreas Schöneck Since the program is in English, is there a chance to get any localized versions with the discount?
Jun 9 2010 at 7:49pm
Roman Rtichshev 1. No

2. We officially support n-1 version. I mean that Acronis True Image 2009 recognizes the images created by 11th version for sure and can restore them for sure. But when it comes for support of n-2 version of the product we can not guarantee that everything will work fine.

3. Acronis True Image Plus Pack add-on is compatible only with Acronis True Image Home 2010. You can run Acronis True Image Home 2010 and Acronis Plus Pack add-on on Windows XP SP3.

Michael,

Yes, you need a Plus Pack for this purpose. There is no problem if you are going to restore your system on the same operating system, True Image and Plus Pack will do the job.

You can buy Plus Pack only on our website but it's nominal fee which is onsite now is $29,99 whereas here you can also get another copy of True Image for less money. Yes you can transfer the license of previous purchase on another name.

Best,

Roman

Andreas Schöneck Hey Roman,

I would need a German localized version.

Merle One Hi,
Is the bootable recovery CD able to backup HFS+ partitions (Mac OS X) ?
Jun 10 2010 at 1:11am
Roman Rtichshev Andreas, the maximum discount we can for German product is 15% without Plus Pack add-on. Please let me know if you are interested in that.

Merle, Unfortunately Acronis True Image Home 2010 does not support HFS partitions.

Mary Price

I love this product, have used it for about 3 years and have had two failures that I was able to recover from completely thanks to TI. I am buying this as soon as I get home tonight so I can have the plus pack as well :)

Linda Bardi Will this work with Vista 64 bit?  Not sure what service pack I have.
Jun 10 2010 at 6:14am
Joe T. What are the terms of the license as per PCs?  One user, three PCs?  Or just one PC?  (I'm a regular home user with four PCs.)  Thanks.

Jun 10 2010 at 6:45am
Mary Price

I am using it with vista 64 bit, no problem :)

Jun 10 2010 at 7:09am
Andreas Schöneck Roman, thanks for your efforts. But I think I will settle with the English version including Plus Pack. I don't mind using an English version...

Joe T. Joshua,
Thanks much for the licenses answer.

Joshua Cowan I'm almost ready to try this (Re: my above comment), meaning: switch my desktop (Vista SP2 x64) backup software over to Acronis TIH 2010, install the same on my laptop (which is running Win7 and using the built-in backup up to this point), and also subscribe to Acronis Online Backup for both of the above.  I may add other machines later.  My Mozy subscription is set to renew on the 16th, though, so I have to decide rather quickly.

Can anybody offer any experiences that they've had with doing a bare-metal restore with this particular version?  This is perhaps the most important issue with any backup product, since it's often the point where people figure out that the backup--perhaps all of them--that they thought they could rely on is unusable for whatever reason. This is why we exercise our backups in the enterprise. It's much less likely that you'll test a bare-metal restore at home before an actual failure, although file recovery may get tested occasionally (frequently?).

The other thing is: does anybody have any experience with the Online Backup addon?  Even better would be somebody who's also used Mozy and can compare their experience with both.

I'm pretty handy with the Google, and I have looked for answers to these questions. I've had a little luck, but there seems to be a relative lack of info on the Online Backup component in particular.  Also, as I said before, I'm in somewhat of a hurry, so I'm not above soliciting advice from the BdJ audience.  ;-)

Thanks,

--Joshua

wiseolowl - I used this program since 2002 and it was brilliant. Over the last two years or so I consider this program has gone downhill. I have been plagued with error upon error in my operations, and I have also found out a TI installation file called SNAPMAN.exe is causing more difficulties than not. If you use a staid boring operation in your computer world, this program will probably give you no problems, however, I don't, and problems were showing so I have abandoned Acronis True Image and Acronis Disk Director in favor of programs from Terabyte, Image for Windows and BootIT NG and have never had errors with this setup.

Also of recent time Acronis TI support I believe has now bunkered down in India and the support level is abysmal. They know nothing and waste your time pretending to solve your issues. Beware. This is a classic case of a brilliant program being totally stuffed up by all and sundry who run it.
Jun 10 2010 at 10:54am
wiseolowl - To Joshua C above, I have never had a technical failure with a backup. My problems related to removable HDD and on some computers Acronis hated them and gave me constant errors and verification failures. Enough to be concerned with this program.

On other computers I had no problems. The program always backed up OK and with restorations I never had a failure. To be honest this program has saved me countless years of time when windows goes belly up. It has always bene easier to return to a previous image than spend a small lifetime solving the problem. However using Acronis with Linux gave me unacceptable issues with restoration so I had to abandon my usage of Linux.

However the errors on some machines made me look elsewhere and when the Terabyte programs came on BITS I purchased and began a program of changeover for my 4 computer network.

Image for Windows is great but I prefer to use Image for DOS. Look into the Terabyte programs, they also have real US person support team that always replies withing 24 hours or earlier. Terabyte also have Image for Linux which is part of their package when you buy Image for Windows.

Joshua Cowan @wiseowl: Thank you for your comments, they seem to parallel what I've seen so far: the program works well for a lot of people, not so well for quite a few others.  I'm comfortable with that, I've been at this computer business for a while and I can tell pretty quickly when something's going to turn out badly.  I don't always let that stop me from going forward with it, but I suspect I'm not alone there.

I actually bought a license for Terabyte IfW the last time it was offered here.  I haven't gotten around to using it yet, but the reason I bought it was to 1. tinker with, and 2. maybe make offline backups.  I usually boot up an Ubuntu live CD and just use dump, ntfsclone, ddrescue, etc. to do offline backups, so it's not like I really needed it for that.  As for a proper backup rotation: it looks fine, but I own a Macrium Reflect license and it seems a little better geared to do it out of the box while still being very flexible if you don't like *how* it does it.

The reason I'm looking at the Acronis software is because I'm going to have to come up with a backup solution for my laptop, and between another Macrium license and Mozy, it'd be about $80 or so (plus an another $45 for my desktop = $125). It seems I could consolidate my solutions and maybe get some additional useful capabilities for less money (looks like about $90 total for 2 licenses today + online backup w/ 10% off coupon) by going with TIH + Acronis Online Backup.  You've said restoration has always gone well for you (and it sounds like some were effectively bare-metal restores), so that's good enough for me.  Now I really just want to know what kind of experience people have had with their Online Backup product; backing up a subset of my data off-site is important to me.

Thanks, again.

Stephen Cohen Can one install Acronis 2010 directly over Acronis 11 or should one uninstall Acronis 11 first?
Jun 10 2010 at 3:39pm
Stan Lewis @Stephen Cohen: I think you should uninstall tools like ATI before updating to a new version.

@Andreas Schöeck: Es gibt (immer noch) ein 24,95 Euro Angebot für die deutsche Version. Aber leider auch ohne Pluspack.

Peter Prescott Great Deal for a very good program I've been using for years. Will a deal for Disk Director Suite will follow soon? That would be great. Many thanks, Peter

Stephen Cohen I purchased this offer.  Does the download include the PlusPack?  If Not, how do I get it?
Jun 10 2010 at 6:53pm
DrTeeth @ Joshua

Macrium does a 4 licence deal for £40, that's 4 for the price of 2.

Steven Cohen,

On the Cleverbridge download page there are two seperate download links. If you scroll down the page the link for the Plus Pack is there, along with the serial number.

Jun 11 2010 at 12:31am
Stephen Cohen Kevin,

Many thanks for the suggestion, but for the life of me, I cannot find the CleverBridge download page you suggest.  Do you have its URL?

Thanks!!!

I'm afraid I can't find the Cleverbridge link now. However, you should have received an email with the download links and serial numbers in it. They're valid until 24th June.

Joe T. @Stephen Cohen, In case you're having the same problem I did ...

The purchase confirmation e-mail has two links, you just have to scroll down past the first link and past what looks like typical advertising fluff (e.g., free PC scan) that might make one think that the e-mail is ending.
