Keith Norton I found this software to be very helpful when I recently moved my 1.5TB (mostly empty) OS drive to a 128GB SSD. The original drive had 3 partitions (1 OS, 1 Recovery, & 1 Manufacturer Something-or-other that seemed empty). True Image painlessly SHRUNK the partitions to fit the much smaller drive and saved me a lot of hassle.

Bill B I used to use Acronis, but time after time it would cause me more grief than relief.

The GUI is complicated
The Acronis system messes with other programs
...and restoration is really tricky

It used to be a good program, but like so many other programs, it just got more complex and troublesomne

Now I used SyncBack and DriveImage... not so many bells and whistels, but as they say...less is more

Hans Nielsen i have used it since 2008 and it have save me a lot of times.
and was easy to use, now a day, its fully automated and you have no clue woot it does unles you spend a lot of time read manual.
one of the most anoring thing are the validate it run all the time even when you reboot you have to wait 2 min before acronis task are done.
i have complaned to them, make it simpel as it was in the past.
atleast not everything on from start, you have to do it by your selv, so you have contoll of how the program work.
now i use only the CD and have acronis uinstaled.
so if i want a bacup i put cd ind and bacup, and for restore, put CD in restart and restore from CD. so simpel can it be done :)

O I I plan to replace my Windows 7 32-bit edition with a new 64-bit edition. I want to preserve apps and data as much as possible.

Is Acronis True Image Home capable of doing this?

DrTeeth I am doing the same soon, and a backup program is *not* the best way to do it.

You can definitely recover your data to your new OS, however, it will not be possible to recover programs because of the difference in OS architecture.
