Jaroslav Javornicky Hi,

@ VLM - Yes, it's the same product.

@ LIto - as Gr3gw suggested, you can move the database, by clicking on Tools, Settings, General Storage and then choosing the location.

Tom Colvin In an earlier comment, I noted three small inconveniences with the program that are probably applicable to my computer only. FYI, eM Client Support has immediately sprung into action to try to resolve my problem. That's a very good sign that this software gets good support. One reason I gave up Thunderbird is that it is no longer being developed or supported -- and eM Client is a much better alternative.

peter anon I use Eudora, but it is dead now, and thunderbird (replacement) is clunky

I don't use Outlook because of the locked PST backup nonsense and 100 other Microsoft quirks.

This looks like outlook?

But I guess none of the spam addons work for this as it's niche?

So I'm wondering why you guys like this so much ?

Harold Morris Want to try the deal, but when taken to vendor page (first issue) it offers only upgrade and (2nd issue) price is 29.95. Where is offer for full program at $24.95??

Constantin Florea @Harold Morris - We've just contacted the vendor regarding the EveryDay deal issue.

Marc Lingenfelter I also tried purchasing the DEAL and the checkout says $29.95 and not $24.95. If they get this fixed I may purchase.

Harold Morris Not a good sign when vendor takes over a week to respond.

Jaroslav Javornicky Hi Harold, Hi Marc,
We have changed the promotion from 50% to 40% couple weeks ago but unfortunately forgot to notify Bitsdujour. It's no doubt our fault and we are truly sorry about that. Please send us an email on salesemclient.com with a short note that it's you guys, coming from Bitsdujour and we'll make sure you get a full PRO version of eM Client 6 for $24.95 as announced.
Best regards,

Loco78 * Gee and I also bought a license yesterday I was sure that the 50% off instead of 40% should watch more of such things as you give to someone for promotion.
By the way, I could also seek compensation resulting losses if I was clingy (or a discount on the purchase lifetime license for my version of eM Client) Well, sometimes yes sometimes just a shame that we have customers for it on the lose.

Jaroslav Javornicky Hi Loco, please get in touch with us on our email (salesemclient.com) as well so we can make this fair for you too.

JLG How long will it take for salesemclient.com to respond with the corrected offer?
Mar 30 at 9:20am Copy Link
Jaroslav Javornicky Hi JLG,
There has been a misunderstanding I am afraid. The offer has been changed and until further notice will stay on 40% off, which I believe is still a very good deal. What has been offered is that the individual correction for those three users here who got affected by not changing the offer on BJ and 2 of them already got in touch and been served.
Best regards,

Tom Pribyl Is this life time updates for 29.95?
Apr 4 at 8:20am Copy Link
Jaroslav Javornicky Hi Tom,
This is a standard PRO license with all future updates for the current version. For future newer versions of the program you need to buy Lifetime upgrades on top of it. Best regards,

Overtkill While I think your program is a step in the right direction, I find it lacks in certain areas like rules and security plugin support. This is an impartial comparison of eM Client 6 vs. MS Outlook (not express) from a Bits DuJour user, not on any company's payroll.

I am using Outlook as the comparison, mainly because its the mail client that your software is closest to emulating. I have also used MS Outlook for around 20 years, and have in depth knowledge of the software.

Main Issues:

1. On your forums, the question regarding rules import not being implemented yet. That was a year ago and it hasn't been added to version 6 (that I can see). This is a basic function in outlook and should have been implemented long ago. Since eM client imports the Outlook native PST and mail files, this seems a half baked idea to not import and make use of the rules system in Outlook.

2. I use Kaspersky Internet Security as my preferred suite. It also has plugins and direct support for Outlook. I realize you guys have similar options in extensions. But the lack of support for security software integration is also kind of a deal breaker for me. I know many suites offer this functionality. This would be a huge selling point if implemented.

Maybe get in touch with these security software companies, and start building plugins that are similar to Outlook's for eM Client.

Where you shine over Outlook:

1. Custom themes.. The lack of this in Office 2013 is the reason customers are leaving this new office suite in droves. Over bright white themes that are hell to look at all day long. This is something you should enhance and be developing more of... Many people like to customize their working environment. This is something that Microsoft fails miserably with implementing in their products. You are limited to the crappy choices that come with the software with no prospect of building custom themes for their software.

2. Antispam options... You allow blocking of the message and domain names, and you do it with multiple message selected. You can't do that with Outlook. Again, lacks in direct plugin support. Kaspersky's plugin for outlook, allows a user to train for his/her junk mail, and also give more functionality for spam blocking, and also places junk items in your junk folder where they belong. It also has a "grey item" Quarantine folder, so you can decide for yourself it items placed there are spam or not. Again, adding something like this would be a very strong selling point.

Conclusion... eM Client 6 is a decent mail client for most people. Those who utilize higher end functions in Outlook will find it lacking in some areas. But overall its probably the closest thing to Outlook on the market, without being Outlook.

eM Client is very close to being a worthy replacement. But it still lacks in certain areas, against a far more mature product. A great deal of thought has gone into its development, but it still feels to me like a light weight alternative to the real thing. With Outlook costing $109.00 and yours costing $99.00 for the lifetime license that everyone wants, its probably a better idea for me to stick with what works (Still on Outlook 2007 after trying 2013) than forking over nearly as much for a new email client that doesn't import rules and settings, and lacks many high end features.

They do offer a trial, and it should be up to the user to decide what their client needs are in the way of functionality. eM client would probably be a decent choice for the less demanding user. Those who live and work in Outlook on a daily basis (Business/corporate folks) will probably wanna stay put for the time being, until the author further "enhances" eM Client further.

Thanks for reading...

Chris Dino How can it be compared to Mailbird?
May 2 at 2:02am Copy Link
Brad Perrault Overkill, a nice comparison of eM Client vs. Outlook. I too appreciate the versatility of setting themes in eM Client over Outlook. However I have been using Outlook for near 20 years and have become proficient with its use. eM Client seems a lighter weight alternative and launches a little faster on my system. However if it were not for the themes the jury is still out as to whether I would have switched over to eM Client from Outlook 2010.

I do miss having a context sensitive help system like in Outlook. eM Client's help system is web based and takes you to a general home screen for help and from there you must search what you need, based on what your trying to do. Fortunately the program is easy to use, and is laid out well. If you are quick study in using computer applications getting up to speed is reasonably quick.

I had previously purchased eM Client on a 50% off promotion here on BitsduJour. I have been using the application now for 3 months and am debating paying the $50 extra fee to upgrade to a lifetime license, which in my opinion is a good deal "if" you plan on staying with the program. But, I have not decided if I will continue, there just does not seem to be an over arching reason to switch to eM Client coming from Outlook 2010. At least not at this point.

Regarding the 50% to 40% promotion change, and notwithstanding the fact that they did correct and make it right for those who already had purchased the program prior to the mistake being caught. It was disappointed the company did not just stay with the original 50% off promotion rather than choosing to change the terms mid-promotion and rolling it back to 40%. My thoughts are they ought to have just sucked it up and kept the original promotion in play especially as the promotion was already running. As an existing eM Client user but more importantly for those who might become future customers it would have demonstrated a flexibility to accommodate and work with a mistake which they clearly made before the promotion, in effect going the extra mile.

Uh?, on the other side of the coin there's always a critic. Likely they had already set the promotion discount to 40% with their vendor handling purchases and perhaps it could not be changed easily on short notice.

Wearsie Jackson eM Client 5 is a very good alternative to Outlook at $30. Developers seem to do fairly regular releases to increase stability.

Definitely recommend the trial first.
