Jerry S For $20, it's worth it, but don't expect to create stellar work with it. It is not a replacement for Adobe Illustrator and design talent. But if you are okay with something simple and perhaps commonplace, it isn't bad. I think I got my money's worth for use in quick projects.

John Gee I bought today but now find that the download is REALLY SLOWWWW. Perhaps they sold a whole bunch today. So far I have 440Mb in 50 minutes :-(
My connection will go at least 10 times faster than this download.

Neil Hinrichsen Be warned that that this product is a 1.2 GIGABYTE DOWNLOAD.

I'm in South Africa where bandwidth is expensive and few people have uncapped ADSL. After downloading 1.1 GB I got a 403 error, so will have to repeat the whole exercise.

By the end I will have spent FOUR TIMES as much on the bandwidth to download this product, as what I spent on the product itself.

I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known it was such a big download, but Bits du Jour do not show the download size anywhere. Unimpressed.

Marco D. I don't see any possibility to export a vector format file, not even EMF or PDF as was stated in the text above. Without vector export the program is merely useless!

Marco D. OK, there are two Export possibilites, the icon in the window title area and in the drop down menu that appears when clicking the logo. THERE you have SVG, EMF, PDF among others. No idea why bitmap formats are recommended and are the only available format in one of the dialogs...

Jason Hogrefe The difference between Logo Design Studio and Logo Design Studio Pro is that the Pro version is vector based and the other is raster. Vector illustration allows you to create designs that can be scaled as large and as small as your computer processor allows without losing sharpness. Raster based designs get pixellated when blown up to sizes beyond what their pixels support. There are also more templates and objects in the Pro version, and the objects are all editable SVG graphics.

Jason Hogrefe Yes, the export options for vector formats is found under the File menu and is separate from the raster formats. We did this so as to not confuse users when they were exporting, since many of our users still seem to be exporting their designs in raster format. We can change this in the future, as we would like an export/save as function more like Illustrator and Photoshop where you can determine the exact size and format during the export process.

I see from the policy posted here that updates are free within the same major version but what is the policy for upgrades (new major versions)?

And just to make sure, the policy say that the license is per user so I guess there are no issues to activate it online several times on different machines as long as we are the only one using those machines or are there any limitations?

Randy Martin I have previously purchased Pro and enjoy it. (I also have illustrator but use it seldom). It works easily and the templates can be disassembled into mix and match, something I use most often with great results.

I only wish I could export into eps.

For this price, you will get your money's worth.

Jason Hogrefe You need to take Amazon reviews (and any reviews) with a grain of salt. Most people tend to post reviews when they are unhappy with a product, so the reviews do not take into account the 25,000+ customers who bought this software in retail or other online retailers and were satisfied with it. I tend to ignore many of the scathing reviews that do not offer any constructive insight into a specific problem with the features or included content. Negative reviews that offer constructive criticism can be used to help improve the product, but many people just want to vent. As for the single bad review on Amazon for this version, the user said it was just a bunch of bad clip art, but that is a matter of opinion. The Pro version includes over 6000 editable SVG graphics which you can add to the canvas and take apart to create entirely new looks. Sure, we have some base shapes, but we also have thousands of unique designs...pretty much something for everyone.

William, you can look at the 2 or 3 people who posted here about their experience with the software...this should be the validation you need to either purchase this or ignore it.

Marco D. I've been playing around with Logo Design Studio Pro and it is a quite powerful piece of software. Definitely worth it's money. There are a few downsides though. If you want to use the logo professionally, you need to convert it into an eps or ai format. I've not been able to import one of the vector formats into Illustrator (CS5). In all formats there are some losses (emf, pdf, svg). This might not be LDSPs fault, but as a matter of fact, you will have some trouble to convert the logo you designed into something, that can be used with other pro software on a vector basis.

Susan Pichotta I noticed the download is quite large, and I also had the first download die near the end, so I had to download it twice. However, I bought the two expansion sets at the discounted price of $10 each (that is offered during checkout), and they downloaded quickly and without problems.

I am going through the installation process now, and I noticed one inconsistency you should address. The "Order Completed" page displays a "Serial Number" and "Installation Code", however, the install process asks for a "Password". I tried entering the Serial Number there, and the "Continue" button stayed disabled. I had to delete that and enter the "Installation Code" for the "Password". It would be better if 1) the Installation Code was labeled as "Password", for consistency, and 2) if the Serial Number is entered for the password, an error message requesting the proper code would be helpful, rather than the software effectively dying until the user gets it figured out.

Also, I have yet to receive the registration email I was promised, and it has been hours since I purchased the software. Glad I saved the "Order Completed" webpage as a PDF, otherwise I would not have my registration keys.

Jason Hogrefe Yes, all the graphics are royalty free, and the fonts are all commercial use fonts to use in any personal or for-profit project.

You shouldn't have to remove your previous version of Logo Design Studio, unless you had a previous Pro version. But if you are not going to really use your older version anymore then by all means, go ahead and get rid of it!

The sample worked fine, for all those who working in the graphic field, you can take the pdf into acrobat and then outline the fonts using a outline plugin. Then it will open in Illustrator without any problems, from there you can convert the RGB colors to CMYK or Spot PMS colors. Thanks for the sample, will now invest in it.

And yes, I was able to download and install the software from the Order Completed page. However, I don't always install software immediately, so if I had closed that page without saving it to PDF, I would not have had the registration information, as I have not received it via email.

However, I have the software downloaded and installed, so all's well that end's well. Thank you for your reply.

Pedro Laurent After purchasing the software the server which hosts the file terminates the download at the very end with a message that says HTTP 403 Forbidden. Now I cannot download the software. I was using a download manager which proof to be useless as the server is the root of the problem. I hope this issue gets solve as soon as possible. I feel sorry for Neil Hinrichsen the guy from South Africa which has to pay per bandwidth and got burn with 1.2GB file that ended unsuccessful at the end like me. Can anyone help with this issue, from passed experiences digitalriver are not reliable at all.

Martin Hamilton I tried to install the download on my Windows 7 OS, but it fails to install providing this message.

"The central directory was not found in the archive (or you were trying to open not the last disk of a multi-disk archive)...

Then, a small installer window (that reads "Loading..." won't go away without a reboot!

I tried working through this with Summit soft support - who then offered a link to another installer download - with the same effect.

Thinking it might be something unique to my desktop computer - I attempted to install it on my LapTop computer - but again the same thing happens.

I made one last attempt to install it on an old computer running Vista - and again the same thing.

Won't install and have to reboot to get rid of the "Loading" dialog.

Summit soft replied with:
"Uninstall any of the previous version of logo design and then install it again
,as we had gone through your issue and this is working fine at our side."

But they clearly have no fixed the issue - and should probably use InstallShield to get this installer to work 'around the globe'.

I'll be seeking a refund for this product since it will not install At ALL.

I was wondering whether anyone else had this issue and if so, were you able to get it resolved and how.

I'll definitely be seeking a refund!

Jason Hogrefe I apologize for the frustration you have experienced.

We actually do use InstallShield for this installation and I have not heard of anyone else experiencing problems with installing on Windows 7. Let me discuss this with our VP of Product Development to see if he has any ideas. We will probably be contacting you to find more information on your system, etc.

Geri S I've had exactly the same issue as Martin as I tried to install on two computers. It would install on neither, giving me the same message as his and the same loading issue that required a reboot each time. I've never had this problem with any other software I've installed on my computers over the years, and there have been many. It is disappointing.

I will wait for the backup disc to arrive before giving up on this software. I do hope it works, but at this point in time am not convinced.

I also had asked whether the extension packs are on the disc, or is my only option for them the download? To be honest, I'm wary of downloading any of this software online after countless frustrating and fruitless attempts.

Stephen Kreyling I am running windows 7 ultimate and last night I updated to service pack 1 for windows and the software is working fine. When you install your software, turn off software not needed, such as antivirus, and other programs and run as administrator, this may help you to get it installed. I run webroot spysweeper, and have to at times turn it off, because it prevents installs from trusted companies as well as bad ones. It blocks files going to the temp folder. If you turn your anti-virus off, just disconnect form the internet if you dont feel safe for the short install of the product. Another product that may prevent install if you have it running is malware bytes.

Martin Hamilton Just an update... since I was having difficulty installing this product - Jason H suspected that the file download was the likely cause.

Consequently, he sent me a CD of the application, and it installed without fail!!!! Thank You Jason!

I was able to load and work with the application and would like to commend SummitSoft on a wonderful product. Job well done!

My thanks to SummitSoft on the quick resolution of this issue and the fine support they provided for this product.

I highly recommend this product!

Geri S Funny, Martin and I have had the same experience. When I received the disc, it downloaded flawlessly and I've had a chance to play with it for a few days now. I'm in love with this software. It offers so much to the creative mind and is so intuitive to use.

I could kick myself that I didn't order the large alphabet package offered for $20. I'll definitely be looking for another opportunity to get that.

The company was very responsive to my initial problems and right there with solutions. If anyone is considering this, I'd say get it. Wonderful product!

Randy Martin I have used this twice to create logos for clients. each time they loved the final product.

I have had several conversations about grouping and rotating but have been unsatisfied with the workaround they provide. The answer is that at the moment, you cannot satifactorily rotate an individual object. You have to group it with an exact duplicate. While that works, you cannot ungroup it to edit it without the object going back to the original position.

And, there is no way (ala PhotoShop) to create a gradient. And no reasonable solution.

Once these two OBVIOUS problems are fixed, this will be an even better program.

As it is, it's worth the money in spite of the aggrevation.
