Tomasz Lisowski "Licensed per computer". What if I have a few operating systems installed on my computer? Can I install and use your software on all of them. In this case, obviously, only one operating system would be running at a time ...

What about virtual machines? Can I use the same license as on the host computer?
Sep 26 2011 at 12:18am
al nonymous i have one license already and like to buy a few more but wondering why when i DL the new definitions update its always about 6-7 MB regardless if i just DL one day ago...that's much too large a file and its the only flaw in MBAM that i am aware of...what is the reason for this?

Sep 26 2011 at 3:35am
David Eaton Most Antivirus now come with some type of Malware finder, such as Norton, Webroot and many others. What would be the benefit of having the pro version? I know you should not have 2 Antivirus softwares on 1 machine, is the same true with Anti-malware?

Do you have any deals for multi-machine? I have 3 machines in my house, so is this a one-time fee for $42 bucks or a yearly deal?
Sep 26 2011 at 4:28am
Roberto this app saved my bottom a couple of times (with the free version). when i had a few bucks, i bought at full price. Sometimes the MBAM process take a lot of cpu and i have to kill it from process manager (sometimes has conflict with phrase express).

But i still recomend malwarebytes. This did the job better than spybot when i needed it.
Sep 26 2011 at 5:00am
Nico Westerdale @Gary, @David, This is the largest discount MalwareBytes has ever given, and they don't give discounts for multiple copies.

@David, The major difference between the versions is real-time protection and IP blocking, which is only available in PRO (plus some minor features).

@Thomas, I'm unsure about how this would work on a VM, I think you'd have to contact MalwareBytes staff on their forum here:

or the full version you get for free from Trialpay ?
Sep 26 2011 at 6:25am
Spratts Pride I have payed for this today, After todays Offer if over, will i still be able to get discount on on it in my bitsdujour account.like other programs i buy of here.if i want to buy extra versions?

I love this program by the way. People would be crazy not to buy your Lifetime License today at this price.

Keep up the great work guys at Malwarebytes

:-)
Sep 26 2011 at 6:31am
Nico Westerdale @Spratts, Once the countdown timer runs out the offer is over, we can't continue selling even if you purchased a copy earlier in the day.

@John S, The version on NewEgg is *not* for sale for $14.99, that price is exclusive to us and MalwareBytes does not normally discount it's product that much. I don't see any TrialPay options on the Malwarebytes shopping cart.

Brian H "Sometimes the MBAM process take a lot of cpu and i have to kill it from process manager" - I am often not a big fan of these "continuous protection" processes, for the exact same reason. But this software is getting great reviews! If I purchase this software, is there a way for me to configure and use it WITHOUT the MBAM (continuous) process running, and just run the scans on a schedule, or when I prefer to run them; or are you forced to run the MBAM process (only being able to manually shut it down from process manager each time you start Windows)? Thanks.
Sep 26 2011 at 9:31am

B Josephs Thanks BDJ for another great deal! Has anyone tried MBAM pro on Windows 7 x64? Although MBAM claims to work with all versions of MS Windows, I recall seeing a post on an pc security forum saying that it's not quite as effective or something like that. Of course thats old info. Anyone know how it is today?
Sep 26 2011 at 10:02am
Garry Camps i am currently using the free version on windows 7 x64 without any problems so i cant see any reason why the paid version should be any different

Just want to be sure, as I have got caught by that little detail a few times before.

Nico Westerdale @James, as per the Policy tab on the right of our page we have "Free upgrades for life"!
Bits du Jour Admin - Sep 26 2011 at 11:05am
Rebecca Kline Hi all!

I am the e-commerce manager at Malwarebytes. Apologies for the confusion with pricing. It is true that Newegg has offered a similar deal which is run through our distributor.

I can tell you the last direct download deal we did for this discount was BitsDuJour in February 2010.

James - all future versions of the software are included in this price!!

Malwarebytes works well with almost all major Antivirus apps and has a light footprint.

Also questions about FREE vs PRO. The PRO version is real-time protection, IP blocking, etc . Our FREE version can only detect infections already on your machine (but does a darn good job at it). For more on the difference between Free and Pro check it out here: http://www.malwarebytes.o...bytes_free

And what about free support for our customers? Yes included! Our Support and Research teams are spread around the world and really don't sleep. Lots of Red Bull.

You have to admit this is an extremely good deal, this is why you don't see if often!

Hope this helps and apologies for the confusion with pricing.

Longtime User Malwarebytes Conclusion from an IT Pro's perspective:
The performance of the free version of the software is second to none compared to all other free and paid alternatives. It seems to me the additional features offered in the Pro version are ancillary to the key features that make the product ROCK. The strength of Malwarebytes is in its ability to repair already damaged systems. There are several alternative tools that excel in malware detention and prevention, but none of those programs hold a candle next to Malwarebytes ability to pull off even the most stubborn of malware. If the product generates persistent high CPU usage for preventative action, that would be a deal killer in my book. People above have asked, why don’t I just turn that part of the program off? Well, you indeed could do that, but then what would be the purpose of buying the paid version? After all, the free version is just as effective at removing viruses; it just does not have the CPU hog preventative scanner service included.
I have never figured out how Malwarebytes can give such an incredible “free version” product away. IT people live and die by this program. They would be happy to pay up for it, as it is, so fast and effective. However, the paid version supports features we are not truly interested in. In fact, I would have to go in and disable the “Pro” features if they were present in the free version. This would be to prevent making older systems with low system resources slower than a snail.
Go Malwarebytes –Keep it Free – Keep it ROCKIN’

Brian H " Well, you indeed could do that, but then what would be the purpose of buying the paid version? After all, the free version is just as effective at removing viruses; it just does not have the CPU hog preventative scanner service included."

OK, just to clarify- is it true that the ONLY benefit of the "pro" vs the "free" is, in fact, the "preventative scanner service"? Also- for those who use the "pro" version currently, how much of a problem is the slowdown from the PSS service, and are there other system conflicts/problems that the PSS service might cause? Thanks to everyone for all the good advice and help.
Sep 26 2011 at 12:34pm
Rebecca Kline Hey First - If you look at bottom of cart where the total is it says it includes €2.21 VAT (19% on €11.62)
Sep 26 2011 at 12:34pm
Nico Westerdale @first, If you're in Illinois you get state tax applied. I'm unsure from your post if you're purchasing in USD or Euro.
Bits du Jour Admin - Sep 26 2011 at 12:44pm
first last @rebecca:
thx, little bit confusing. maybe ex vat or inc vat should be addet to the shown price.

@nico
thx. the change from usd in euro was only a test to see, if the "problem" occurs in different currency also.
Sep 26 2011 at 12:48pm
Nico Westerdale @first, The VAT is calculated differently depending on where you live. For most people the final price is $14.95. If there is tax added then it's clearly shown.
Bits du Jour Admin - Sep 26 2011 at 12:57pm
SoftCollector I have never tried MAM before. Can someone clarify if it should be used instead or alongside (seldom a good choice) such antivirus and antispyware products as Avira and Outpost?

Kind Regards,
SC
Sep 26 2011 at 4:04pm
Software Guy Alongside an antivirus like avira.
For some good info on antivirus programs to complement antimalware bytes, go here: http://www.antivirusware....us2011.htm

remember, for best protection you need an anti malware plus an antivirus, and most suites throw in a good firewall. And there are the antikeyloggers like zemana and spy shelter, both offered on BDJ in the past.

If money is no object, ESET NOD32 always gets high rankings - please see the antivirus article link above.

Yes, it is a shame we must have so many different types of protection. Antimalwarebytes does a very good job of blocking and removing malware, especially the pro version offered here which gives you real time site blocking. Complement that with a good antivirus and you should have good protection for most purposes.
Sep 26 2011 at 7:55pm
Jason'sHat Just got mine, thanks MBAM and BDJ!
Sep 26 2011 at 8:55pm
Steven Avery ok, I'm in. A superb company. Good to support them and if I get some easier updates and scheduling and a lifetime something and the possibility of trying the proactive HIPS style .. all fine by me.

Only other comparable company these days is SuperAntiSpyware . and MB may have a little edge, both can save you system at times that it looks like malware may cause a format. (Be careful though, Malware tends to want to invite buddies)

However, there are many mals that simply need a cleansing, know to MB.

Thanks, Bits.

Bits du Jour Admin - Sep 27 2011 at 12:00am
Tim Pratzer I am confused on exactly which version this is for ?

Is this the "Pro" Version ?

Thanks
Sep 27 2011 at 7:05am
d adams Can the vendor please address the question of why the updates are so large. generally 6.5 MB to 7 MB. It was asked early on but apparently ignored. I too have the pro version and have always wondered about this. Thank you.
Sep 27 2011 at 7:06am
Nico Westerdale @Tim, MalwareBytes does not have a "Pro" version, it has a free version, and the paid version. This is for the paid version.
Bits du Jour Admin - Sep 27 2011 at 7:12am
Nico Westerdale @d adams, It appears that the way MalwareBytes updates the virus definitions is to download it all at once. I checked their forums (which appear to be down this moment) and they appear to be working on incremental updates.

Check here:
http://www.google.com/sea...ates+large

Also it's worth noting that you get free updates for life with this offer, and you can purchase in any country (unlike some of the other boxes deals mentioned).
Bits du Jour Admin - Sep 27 2011 at 7:16am
Garry Camps is this deal limited to a single license per user ?. are there any deals for users with multi cimputers. i have 3 so does 1 license covers ALL 3 or do i need individual licenses for each PC
Sep 27 2011 at 7:50am
Keith Lammers I've used this many a times on family and friends' machines so I'm definitely picking this up. Glad I can finally support these guys!
Sep 27 2011 at 8:16am
Diana Johns I had the freeware version of Malwarebyte for a year or so. Got some kind of malware on my system that got around Norton. Tech support and help was terrific at Malwarebytes so I bought the lifetime pro license and have never regretted it. I try to surf safely but Mbam does catch things at least weekly and keep my system out of trouble. No conflicts with Norton Internet Security these days.
Sep 27 2011 at 11:54am
Anton James Thanks for extending the deal, I picked up my copy!

Garry Camps in the deal as offered here it say %40 percent so which is correct %40 or %50 ?

Thomas K Hi, regarding the one PC policy with lifetimes updates/upgrades ... can I transfer the license to a different PC (e.g. after byuing a new laptop) ? If so how , do I have to call support / send an email ?
Sep 27 2011 at 3:07pm
Rebecca Kline Hey Thomas - nope. I just pulled this from our EULA for you. If you do have any trouble you can contact us via Support Forums or email at any time.

-----------------------

Users who wish to transfer their license to a different computer must first completely uninstall the Software from the first computer, then reinstall the software on the new computer and re-register the Software on the new computer with Malwarebytes.
Sep 27 2011 at 3:11pm
Thomas K As a german user I use the best antivirus toolkit available: G-Data (with the dual engines of Bitdefender + Avast). I could not find any notes on the compatibility to MBAM . . . could I encounter issues?
The offer is really great so would love to grab it but do not want to lose my current great protection on the way.
Sep 27 2011 at 3:19pm
Rebecca Kline Hey Thomas,

You can run G Data and Malwarebytes together, but do need to set exclusions. You can contact any of our support team members and they can send you easy instructions how to do so on any operating system within 24 hours. When you buy the product our support email address will be on confirmation page and also emailed to you.

Also in rare chance you are still having problems you can contact our trusted payment provider Cleverbridge within 30 days and ask for a refund.

I hope this works for you! :)

Steven Avery Hi,

Solid malware products and support is very difficult today. There are many competing-complementary paradigms (HIPS, sandbox, scanning, firewall, heuristics, keylogger, specialty adventures) . Lots changes daily. Many companies are marketeers and cut corners and partner with cheesecakes and toolbars or make free programs that are ultra-light or really are invisible in crunch-time.

*** A big solid plus to Malwarebytes *** - probably #1 in scanning and fixing - with real support . If they resolve an issue once in a couple of years for you, it saves you a big headache. (Have at least the free program installed on every disk so that you do not have to worry about a baddie blocking installation.) And MB likely solid now in HIPS with the real-time stuff (I will have to read the specifics of the excellence and focus .. now that I bought).

Keep in mind that layering protection is a good idea, even with some overlap. That way a baddie that fools A, may not fool B. Security eggs can be in more than one basket.

Just to be fair, their "competitor" - SuperAntiSpyware - despite the strange name and a more complex problematic history, can save a lot of bacons too. Today I think it is safe to say that all the others ( even the pioneers .. eg. Spybot ) are playing 3rd fiddle, in the area of identifying and fixing .. a tricky area because the bad guys like to play games and change names and run around the mulberry bush. MB is simply awake, alert, alive .. giving you some peace of mind that it will find this and that. In fact, simply the new scheduling of scanning and updating from the Paid version will be helpful, who remembers stuff like this ?

Just a thanks to let an integrity company know that they are very much appreciated.

Steven

SoftCollector @ Nico Westerdale

Dear Nico,

1. I bought two licenses when the sale was on - thank you.

2. I have been trying the compatibility of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware with several antivirus and internet security suites and I can confirm that it works well along side AntiVir, Outpost Firewall Pro v7.5.1 and Norton Internet Security v2010.

3. However, it seems that compatibility with Kaspersky IS v2012 is not very good as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware failed to start once after the installation of KIS and once my computer froze and I had to restart.

Your comments are welcome,

Kind Regards,
SC
