Document scanning was supposed to make our lives easier, but the software applications and compatibilities involved in achieving scanning nirvana turned the process into a nightmare. Either the software that you want to use isn't compatible with your scanner, or the software that came with the scanner is horrible and doesn't meet your needs. It's time to start over, and PaperScan is the first step on this new journey to scanning freedom.

Want to keep up to date with new PaperScan releases and updates? Check out the PaperScan Version History for that!

PaperScan is a universal scanning application with a superb OCR engine (available in the Pro version) that runs on both the TWAIN and WIA industry standards (will work with literally any scanner). With PaperScan, you can quickly scan documents to digital format without hassle, or import existing images and PDF files to take advantage of the wide array of adjustments and enhancements that the software offers. When you're done, you can save your scans to popular file formats that include JPEG, TIFF, PDF, and JBIG2, a revolutionary format that allows up to 10X compression for scanned documents.

Version 3 now includes changes in the interface, a new settings panel, more than 20 new filters and effects, support for 60+ OCR languages (Pro edition only), new profile manager to create remove and switch configuration settings, support for custom keyboard shortcuts management, pre-set annotations support with a featured designer (Pro edition only), new preview feature in scanning wizard and improved support for large bitmap handling and for camera devices.

What kinds of adjustments and enhancements does PaperScan offer? How about the ability to correct skewed images? Remove punch holes, borders, and blank pages? Rotate images, adjust color, filters, and apply special effects? When it comes to printing, no other application offers this level of flexibility and power, giving you the ability to resize images, select print quality, crop, and more! All of this functionality and more can be yours with PaperScan!

Please note folks, today you can purchase either PaperScan Home Edition or PaperScan Professional Edition. Scroll down the product page to find a comparison matrix detailing the differences in the versions.

Jim Buchanan I know that this is a real simple question and does nothing for my esteem but I'm going to ask anyway. In the fine print it states these two things:
1 "PaperScan is licensed per user, so if more people are going to use PaperScan you will need to purchase additional copies."
2 - "Each license allows installation on a single computer and a laptop."
So my questions are based on 'wanting to clear things up for me and me alone'. They do not reflect anybody else at this time. So here goes:
- If it is licensed per user then technically if the person has more than one computer and a laptop then why not two that he owns and a laptop? To understand that question you have to also contend with the other question and comment below it.
- Is a Laptop a computer? It has a motherboard, ram, drives with memory, USB ports, etc and virtually anything a desktop computer has but is mobile. I can also be plugged into the wall. Now if it is a computer then does it not conflict with the first question.
And then there is WiFi. So you have your 2nd computer synced with your first computer (and laptop) and tell the printer which may be actually plugged into the first computer [via a cord] to scan the document. Is that not against item one? Okay that's over with. That has been on my mind for a while and I just felt ornery enough to ask it..
My next and more worthy question is - Is the pro version also on sale? And does it have the same restrictions?

Coralie Carlier Hello Jim

Our EULA applies for each version of PaperScan.
PaperScan is licensed per user, however if you want to register the software on a few devices (laptop, family computer...), you just have to notify to our sales team so we can arrange it.
You can submit a ticket, here is the direct link: https://support.orpalis.c...ts/Submit/
PaperScan does work well with WiFi.
The Professional edition is also on sale (49% off the standard price only today): http://www.bitsdujour.com.../in=search
Do not hesitate to contact us if you need anything.

disenchanted I was testing the demo program for the Pro version.
I wanted to test the OCR capabilities of this program.

After importing a PDF to OCR, it asks for a license key?
Can't go any further.

Is there any way to try the OCR functionality with the Demo program/

Jim Buchanan Okay, You sold me on the program however, and there always seems to be a forever. I have just tried to order the pro version and after pressing 'continue' in Paypal and being sent back to your registration page telling me that the postal code and province don't match up 3 times I am a bit worried? Did I just get duped out of money for nothing. Yes, I'm ticked. i know how to get my Province and I also know the Postal Area Code. Your program would not accept that I knew. Now with only an hour and a half before I hit the hay I doubt if I'll be getting anything.
{Picture steam coming out of my collar under pressure.}
There is 4 hours and 37 minutes left but it is 11:25 pm here and I'll probably be in bed before long so the time stamp is a little shorter. I'll check back in an hour.
