PowerArchiver 2010 Pro

Complete Control Over Compressed Archive Files!

PowerArchiver 2010 Pro

*** Due to the overwhelming response ConeXware, Inc has agreed to extend this deal for another day - Enjoy! ***

Disk space and bandwidth are very precious commodities, which explains the popularity of compression archive formats like ZIP, RAR, ACE, and CAB -- they allow you to keep many more files on your hard disk than you could normally fit. But the limitations of these formats are many. Perhaps most critical is the inability of most compression programs to dynamically access the actual compressed files.

Not anymore!

With PowerArchiver, you can easily preview archives, images, text and many other file types directly in the application without having to open the archive. Even better, you can use PowerArchiver's Virtual Drive feature to mount ISO images into Windows and then browse them like normal files!

And, if you do decide to decompress an archive, PowerArchiver has the ability to unpack RAR, ARJ, ARC, ACE, and ZOO archives, plus ISO, BIN, IMG and NRG disc image formats.

Plus, everything that I've written about PowerArchiver works in reverse, as well. What does that mean? It means that you can use PowerArchiver to create compression archives in ZIP, 7-ZIP, CAB, LHA (LZH), TAR, GZIP, BZIP2, BH, XXE, UUE, yENC, and MIME (Base 64) formats. With the ZIP format, you'll be able to support unlimited file size and unlimited number of files in each ZIP file! PowerArchiver can create ISO images from hard disk files, or from CD/DVD/BD media. And, all of these files and archives can be locked up tight with your choice of five different encryption methods!

Once you've got all of your files neatly packed away, PowerArchiver helps you to put them away. You can choose to use the integrated FTP client to move your files to an offsite server, or burn them to CD/DVD/BD media for safekeeping!

PowerArchiver even sports advanced backup features that rival many dedicated backup titles. You can backup direct to CD/DVD/BD and assign any of 3 possible local backup destinations. PowerArchiver's backup features include 7-Zip compression, an advanced built-in backup scheduler, detailed reports and logs ready for email.

As if all this weren't enough, PowerArchiver 2010 Pro also includes an Outlook plugin as well as a command line utility. Both of these are normally sold separately but included free with the Professional version of PowerArchiver 2010!

Yes, and it will be for PA 2010... we will update the deal ASAP ;-).

On your website, the PRO version does not come with free lifetime updates - did I get you right that you will change that? (Maybe only for this deal for bitsdujour?)

    Drazen Dodig (ConeXware, Inc Vendor)

Does the 'explorer integration' also work with Directory Opus without problems?
  • Nov 26 2009 2:08pm
    Drazen Dodig (ConeXware, Inc Vendor)
You need to check it out - download trial version and see if it works with software you want it to work with.

I would guess it works fine if you run 32bit version of Windows, and for 64bit version of Windows, PA installs 64bit shell extensions, so your 3rd party file manager needs to be 64bit to run 64bit shell extensions. If you run 32bit explorer replacement in 64bit Windows, then it wont show 64bit shell extensions.

I hope i did not overcomplicate the explanation ;-).

Thank you for the accurate explanation.

I think the main part of DOpus can be 64bit.

I've installed the 64-bit version (in Win 7 x64) and the taskbar shows Dopus.exe and one helper are 64bit and one helper is 32bits.

Then you should be fine, but try trial version regardless... if you purchase it in few days, you only need to add registration code you got and it will be registered.

PAOP (Outlook Plugin) and PACL (standalone command line tool) are already included with the purchase of PA 2010 Pro ;-).

I am a WinRAR’s registered user, but because of your lifetime upgrade promotion I am considering buying a PowerArchiver license.
But after few minutes of testing I found some strange behaviours.
    1. I am a Windows 2000 user but I had already installed gdiplus.dll on my system (C:\WINNT\system32\gdiplus.dll) but PowerArchiver ask for downloading and installing it.
    2. The “Associate PowerArchiver with recommended formats” does not have a selection list. This list appears on the first PowerArchiver launch and only if the “Show Configuration options for first installations” is checked. The problem is that if the first option is selected then the WinRAR rar file association and others are lost.
    3. The “compress in…” section of the right click context menu of files/folders displays all the previously opened compressed files, even the not supported formats. (rar files are possible targets too). If a rar compressed file is selected then you could end losing it because no error message is displayed. (Messages: * already exists. Update existing file / Overwrite *)
    4. You cannot add new columns to the details view of compresses files with the right click button (but yes in normal folders), you have to go to Options/Configuration/View to do it. PowerArchiver allow you to short contest using not displayed columns.
    5. When you are using PowerArchiver, you have to open a compressed file to be able to see its properties, extract its context,… It is quite annoying and even more when the compressed file is very big. It would be better to allow it, just by selecting the compressed file on PowerArchiver interface.

Request (maybe some of them are impossible):
    1. Be able to look inside archives like folders on Windows explorer and other file managers (xplorer²,…). Similar to the zip files on Windows XP. CompreXX or Alpha ZIP (this one has a better integration) can achieve what I have exposed.
    2. Be able to use ifilters to display file context.
    3. Be able to display file content in full screen mode.
    4. Implement RAR compression for WinRAR users by the use of WinRAR command line.

I will test it longer because it has lots of options and I have not read all the manual yet.

    JL,

for wishlist, please visit our forums at:
    http://www.powerarchiver.com/forums

You can also email me at drazen@conexware.com for more detailed answers to all of the questions here (answering it all is few pages of text). But in any case, if you decide to purchase PowerArchiver in next few days, then make sure you like what you see right now, and not the promise of future features ;-). We probably issue the most updates out of all competing software but again when you are purchasing anything, make sure you like what is there, right now. So just copy and paste this into email so i can respond properly. Most of the things on the list are on our list as well, although i dont think we will be able to do any of those requests. For instance we cant legaly implement RAR format for compression, however PA2010 has optimized unrar so it extracts files even faster than WR itself (up to 30%). Thanks!

Is it possible to change the associated file icons?
I know the wording on the icon is different i.e. zip, rar etc but sometimes they are very difficult to read if you've got archives of different types in the same folder.
  • Dec 1 2009 5:33pm
    Drazen Dodig (ConeXware, Inc Vendor)
You could manually change them to something you like better, but there are no predefined other choices you can easily pick.

We do have skins, and some of them do have different icons... you might be able to find some icons that you like better there.

On the BuyNow-page there is offered also a international-version, which is said to be less expensive. Beside the additional language is there any difference between these versions? If not, why is the international-one cheaper, while it has more (additional languages)?
  • Dec 2 2009 12:32am
    Michael R (Visitor)
Oh, I see. It's not as said on that page $16,29 (recalculated in EUR, which would be about €11), but €16,29 (what is about $24). Right?
  • Dec 2 2009 5:43am
    Drazen Dodig (ConeXware, Inc Vendor)
Yes, that is correct - i think bitsdejour can show only USD price, which is why EUR is shown as that. I have hoped they would write it in the comment section so there would be no confusion, in any case, it is shown properly on our site and discount is the same 50% on both MSRP prices.
  • Dec 2 2009 6:26am
    J L (Visitor)
The international link discount posted in the old comments ( http://tinyurl.com/n6am6v ) worked and works before the promotion.

The discount is not 50% but 49%.

I found some more bugs that I will post one of this days on the PowerArchiver forum.
  • Dec 2 2009 6:34am
    Drazen Dodig (ConeXware, Inc Vendor)
Thats link to PA 2009 version, PA 2010 Int is the same price, so it is easier to use "official" bitsdejour link.

when i compress a folder full of files to 7zip,it takes i very long time.buy when i use winrar to compress to rar it faster, could you make this compress alot faster please?
  • Dec 2 2009 1:16pm
    Drazen Dodig (ConeXware, Inc Vendor)
Speed of 7zip compression depends on your computer and type of compression used. Try using lower compression settings and it will be faster.
  • Dec 2 2009 4:01pm
    O I (Visitor)
I need to add/edit some files inside epub (zip) files without to decompress them. Epub format requires that mimetype file should be always first in the zip table without compression.

So if I add some files inside the epub/zip file and edit some others can I arrange (or maintain the structure) in the zip file trough Power Archiver?
  • Dec 2 2009 5:41pm
    O I (Visitor)
Please, add the rearrangement of items in zip files in your wish list. I was unable to do it with the PA trial. In fact I was unable to do it with any other zip utility.
I could unzip and zip files with any zip utility, but that's very inconvenient. If I could do it in the zip with the ability to move up/down files inside it, I will purchase PA immediately. I think that this will be very useful for all epub users that want to change something inside the archive.

This is not only the best compression utility there is, but the developers are very responsive to suggestions. I have managed to get several of my own implemented. When there are issues, the response has been quick, helpful and spot on.

Just hope the lifetime licence applies to us old customers LOL.

DrTeeth on the PA forums - just a satisfied customer.

Is there a way to easily display the full path of where you are in the user interface? I am testing the software and get into situations where I don't know which folder I am in. I am sure it just has to do with the view I am using.
  • Dec 2 2009 6:49pm
    Drazen Dodig (ConeXware, Inc Vendor)
Yes, you can you explorer view... by clicking on View menu Display Style Explorer with folders, or View button just above the name column in filelist, Folders Explorer with folders...

    thanks dr teeth :-)

O I, submit it to our forums and we will take an look. I am not familiar with epub format, but it seems as if it is matter of enough people wanting it and then us implementing it ;-)

  • Dec 3 2009 9:20am

One nice thing about this offer is that the vendor has discounted pricing for multiple-PC licenses, and the Bits du Jour 49% off sale pricing applies to that. -- e.g. The Regular Price for the 1-PC license is $34.50, but the Regular pricing for 2-9 licenses is $25.00 per computer.

So on the order form, if you change the quantity to 5, for example (you only get the lifetime free upgrades for purchases of 5 or fewer licenses), then the sale price becomes 5 x $25 = $125 - 49% = $63.75. Thus, you are getting the licences for $12.75 per computer. That's nice, for people with multiple computers.
