Pedro Laurent I bought this software last time and never got to used it again when I had to reinstall it on my PC, my hard drive went bad and had to replace it. I don't even have to explain why I can't activate this software...

Silat I love this program for cutting and pasting information in online documents. Also in political forums where I need facts to slap down fact-less right wingers:)

I agree that the activation issue is troublesome but I like the program so much that I will put up with it. Anyway the TBeast boss made sure I have a few xtra activation get out of jail cards so I will not have to hassle if my hard drive fails a few times. I recommend writing them if you have an issue as they are very responsive and friendly.

Mary Wilson When I went to download them to try them, it came up with two different programs textBEAST PRO Clipboard + Image + Capture
and textBEAST Clipboard Manager +. Which is the one for this offer? Do you need a licence for each computer in your house or can I put it both on my laptop and my main system.

Al Baran Pedro, reactivating the license key is no problem, I wish you had notified us sooner! Each key can be used on 2 computers and can be re-used as many times as you like as long as you unregister it while uninstalling (a simple process that uninstallation will prompt you for).

In the event that your hard drive fails and does not allow you to unregister, we are always here to help and usually respond the same day.

Al Baran I should clarify that the hard drive issues mentioned were not caused by textBEAST, which has been a very stable program. Unfortunately, computer hardware can fail unexpectedly.

Al Baran In response to Mary's question: this is not a registration problem. If you need to reinstall textBEAST on another machine, just unregister your license during the uninstallation process, when prompted, and you can re-use your license key. If you have computer hardware failure and cannot unregister, we are here to assist, as I mentioned above.

Jeanne Esther I have used this program for almost 2 years now.
It's an excellent piece of software which has greatly improved my productivity.
Whenever I had problems, the support service was quick and excellent.
Now for more than a year now, I haven't had a problem with it on my Windows 7 machine, except that it regularly checks via the Internet that the registration key is valid.
Another plus about it is that it can also generate a Portable Version.
I will recommend any BDJer who work a lot with text or who have to use their memory to remember pieces of information to give it a try.
It is not only clipboard text manager but also an information manager as it comes with 10 libraries or storage areas, having each 10 allocated pages where you can store information
It also comes with a great contextual help.

Regarding checking whether the registration key is valid, it only does this when first registering the license. The internet activity you may have noticed is just textBEAST checking for updates, which can be turned off if you wish.

The FAQ implies that the image+capture version is a more full featured version. But the comparison chart clearly shows several features in the other version that are not in the image+capture version. Very confusing and strange.

Al Baran Hi Ron, I'll be glad to clarify. One is not designed to be "better" or more full-featured than the other, it's just a matter of what your needs are. If you work more with text but still want screen capture capability, Clipboard Manager is your best bet. If you want more image capablities including image resizing, the +image version is suggested.

DroidLuvr I have been using "ClipMate" for many years now, and I am still mostly very happy with it. However, it is no longer being developed or supported, and I know I'm going to need a replacement soon...

Al Baran DroidLuvr, textBEAST's big advantage over similar products, including the one that you mentioned, is the rapid access to your text clips so that these can be found and pasted very quickly into your documents, emails, web pages, etc. TextBEAST can serve not only to store an archive of information, but more importantly to keep frequently used items at your fingertips. The navigation and copy/paste interface make textBEAST very well-suited for this. Some of our customers are doctors, lawyers, computer programmers, and web designers, all of whom like to keep a collection of text clips nicely organized and ready to paste.

Al Baran DroidLuvr, let me again clarify that activation has never been a problem! In the unlikely event that your computer hardware fails on a machine that you had textBEAST loaded on, and you wanted to reinstall onto the machine after replacing or reformatting the hard drive, we can easily reactivate your key. Otherwise, you can easily re-use your key without our help, if you want to migrate textBEAST to another machine.

1 license key can be used to register textBEAST on 2 machines. Multiple users with separate Windows login names on each machine can use this without any need for additional licenses. Each user's data file will be separate, however.

Overtkill I'm a little confused as to why the +image version of your product seems to lack the capabilities of your clipboard manager. You would think that the image handling version would be a natural progression of the standard pro version. If it had the same feature set of the pro clipboard manager, plus the additional features of the image+ version, I would buy this product on the spot as I need both full sets of features in a single tool, and that would make it difficult to pass up.

Al Baran Ron and Overtkill, thanks for your comments. We have always had greater demand for the Clipboard Manager version, so our development efforts have been focused more on that one. We have considered "merging" the two and this may happen at some point. If it does, all owners of either one of the current versions would of course get the standard 50% discount for a major version upgrade.

DroidLuvr Thanks Al, for all your input. My last concern is that it says this is the last time it will be offered on BDJ, but you have "no return" policy. So, since I didn't download this to test it out before today, I just don't feel that's adequate time to decide to buy (either version.)

It's a shame BDJ doesn't give a little more notice of what's upcoming (I can't keep up with them all, anyhow!!), but I definitely can't say it's their fault, because almost all of their offerings have anywhere from a 30-90 day return policy, unlike your no return policy.

Bottom line, I guess: not enough time to try and no return, I'll have to pass and take my chances with my current program.

Generally we have a "no return" policy because our trial version is good for 30 days/uses, which we think is more than enough to evaluate a program before buying, but that doesn't help in this situation, as you pointed out. We think that textBEAST at its regular price is a bargain, and certainly at the discounted price, it's hard to go wrong! Our customers are typically extremely pleased and send us unsolicited positive feedback. I should mention that the next version is going to have a major price increase and we don't have plans to market it on BDJ. In conclusion, it's worth taking the chance!

Overtkill Hi Al, I hope you are still following this discussion...

Merging the two would be alright I guess. But from a development standpoint, a second, more enriched product that would include all the features of the 1st version, plus all the image features of the second would make more sense. With that in mind, you could probably charge, say $5.00 - $10.00 more for the full featured second version. Try to think of it as a progression of your first version. As a SysAdmin, I look for the single tool that does more than several tools. A multitasking utility so to speak. I avoid uni-tasking tools. The more features in the higher level tool, the better, and the more likely someone like Ron and I would buy.
