Ok, here's how it is. On one hand you have dozens if not hundreds of CD/DVD burning and backup titles. Carbon-copy, internet-cluttering clones that offer limited functionality and dubious support.

On the other? Alcohol 120%.

There are some very good reasons that institutions like Adobe, Samsung, Dell, Warner Brothers, an even NASA rely on Alcohol 120% for their DVD backup needs. It's stable, flexible, quick, and supports a large variety of CD/DVD image files.

Alcohol 120% makes it simple to store your favorite and most-used DVDs and CDs as images on your local hard disk. Making them available anytime, all the time, and allowing you to run them up to 200x faster than via the optical drive.

And all this at a click of a button!

There are a lot of options out there for CD/DVD backup solutions. Do yourself a favor and make sure you get the best: Alcohol 120%.

Stefan Hauber Is it possible to edit backuped images, e.g. remove unwanted files to create smaller backups (or add some files)?

Emil Kucera Trying to download a trial, NOD32 antivirus blocks the site.
(ESET Knowledgebase | www.eset.com)
The same happens with trying to download the free Alcohol Portable.

2 questions:

1. is it safe to override the antivirus and download from http://www.filefacts.com/...e-download ?
2. Does 120% include the Portable functionality, making it unnecessary?

Regards Emil

Quinton Hi Emil

The warning from ESET is a false positive, which we have contacted them about, it is in regards to a 3rd party stub that we (and many other) vendors use for their downloads, to try and earn some money from their non retail versions.
The retail version would be a direct download from us, and this is the version that is being offered today.

William W. Geertsema My system: Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 (build 7601), Internet Explorer Version 10.0.9200.17457

I purchased the program, and then followed the (extremely convoluted) instructions in the receipt email to obtain a registration code (and a non-trial version of the software), after first creating an account..
I tried to create an account. Each time I tried, after I had entered my email address and clicked the "create new account" button, a small pop-up window appeared with the message "Please enter your email"..
That is as far as I could get.
I would appreciate knowing how on earth to complete the process of obtaining a registration code and the non-trial version of the program ...

Emil Kucera Purchased, created an account, logged in, but after downloading from Alcoholsoft, several times, when trying to run the exe file, I get:

"Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include
incomplete download and damaged media. Contact the
installer's author to obtain a new copy.
More information at:
http://nsis.sf.net/NSIS_Error"

So what to do now?

Jun-Xian User The original price is $39 EUR= $43.3USD on Alcohol's official website. Why is the original price 54.71 USD here? Is this lifetime update for free?

Stefan Hauber About my question from yesterday:

Is it possible to edit backuped images, e.g. remove unwanted files to create smaller backups (or add some files)?

Yes, I saw, there were similar questions before, but they were from 5 years ago and Alcohol120% has evolved (or has it not?)

One of the last answers (Nov 28 2011 at 10:53pm) was , the developers will look for a possibility of adding such a feature. Have they?

Quinton @Stefan

It is possible using the xtra wizard inside Alcohol, but it is just simple files and folders.
