Edgar Werner After several years using a backup program of a third company I recently changed to the AOMEI tool and I'm very content with it. The reason of changing was that the abandoned program as well other ones didn't work any longer in my Win 10 installation due to their failing interaction with the VSS writer/player of Microsoft . (Windows shows up "in real time" what's the matter.) The exact interaction is crucial, however. There are lots of reports about this topic in the internet.
AOMEI as well as Acronis offer the VSS route and in addition as an alternative their own engines. I performed system back ups with these alternatives and I couldn't detect any disturbances during the back up process.

Lazar Voin "This software was downloaded too many times". You R Right but for NOT, the serial number does NOT work, "INVALID" I send lots of emails about this registration not working, so I was hoping maybe you SHOW finally the WORKING one. Mystery solved. NO SERVICE from these guys and I bought the software a couple of times this one and about 3 more like backup etc.

Lazar Voin @Constantin Florea! I know that, the problem is that all the Giveaway software lose the registration when windows does updates. That makes it work any length of time but the giveaway time given of 6 or 12 months.
NB I purchased software from shareareonsale and bitdujour and does the same!

Martyn User Why would purchase this software if required to pay $50 to use it every year. There are similar if not better apps which you pay once. The trouble is software developers are getting greedy. They also do not want to accept responsibility when their app fails to work properly.

Peter Gabriel I purchased a ‘lifetime licence’ offer for Aomei Backupper Pro from BDJ , linked to StackSocial.

Yes, it is a lifetime licence if you keep the program on your existing PC and never reformat it. Once you reformat that self-same PC and reinstall Backupper you will find that it will not accept the licence code.

Hardly what I would consider ‘Lifetime’. So be warned.

Kenneth Bates My purchase was on 16 December 2021 purchased on your site but through StackCommerce. The Receipt was for $34.79 including VAT
I registered the program straight away but shortly afterwards I had to change my motherboard and reinstall al of my programs.
Since then I was able to use it in trial mode but it is now demanding that I purchase again. What kind of Lifetime use is that?

Rindert User @ Constantin Florea , I ask this specifically because they have yearly subcriptions . But may that is for businesses. I know have still windows 7 and plan buying a new computer with windows 11 . Some other programs like Ashampoo recent versions will not work on older windows versions. I still plan to keep the older computer for other purposes.

So its not just upgrades during 1 year this version will work after 12 months also?

Techroe Tried multiple times to get Aomei Backupper Pro to validate on the "free" giveaway day. Uninstalled, reinstalled, never validated, never activated.

Emailed Aoemi and sent instructions to activate it offline. So I did, I uninstalled, reinstalled —still no activation. Sheesh...

I emailed them back and they said, unfortunately the "giveaway" time for activation was over—even though I had tried all their suggestions for three days to no avail and it was suggested that I buy a Lifetime Upgrade instead. Really? So I can PAY for the frustration and aggravation of not being able to activate the product? No thanks! I mean how good can their product be if it won't even activate? I'll stick with my Ashampoo Backup Pro that has never let me down.

Techroe Can't make a typo error with copy and paste, it's also not my first rodeo activating a product. The forum was full of people having the same issue, in fact BitsDuJour kept the listing up for an additional day or two because of the problems people were experiencing with their activation codes. Why not? I use a ton of software; mostly portable commercial, open source, and freeware, which constitute a wonderful And overall preferable alternative to restrictive software, hardware footprint based DRM schemes, and those such as AOMEI that will "Not allow me to transfer validly purchased software" to another computer that I would purchase." This restriction is a not often seen. Paid major version upgrades, unless via a contrived phase scheme, are one thing; but this not allowing me to transfer to another computer something entirely different and UNACCEPTABLE! I boycott such products, and never lack great software and wide range functionality that I would ever need.

Kevin User Program has worked great up until i installed windows with my nvme ssd in 4k sector mode, this program does not clone drives with 4k sector size. I think this is something they need too implement 4k sector size is kinda the norm nowadays, I still have a license but it has caused me to switch to a different company so i can make backups of my computer.

Al Based on common sense and witnessed by the many comments over time, the bottom line with this product offering is that its fine print, while "technically" accurate, is only part of the story. It leads to much confusion and frustration over unexpected and undesirable results that occur over time.

Whenever a software is "licensed per computer," not per user, you will have problems down the road, unless, but still eventually, you use it on the same computer the rest of your days, never reformat it, change out system boards, come up certain major OS changes, platform obsolescence, etc. Don't count on not encountering that!

Computers are not purchasing or contracting entities, nor users! PEOPLE are! Who are the types who contrive otherwise and sell according to that model and guise?

Run, do not walk, away from such offerings!!! Just move on to better and frustration-free ones! We don't need more stress these days. There are plenty of options out there. Choose wisely!
