Bruce I have been using both Defraggler and Auslogics Defrag for past year or so and find both have merit. Auslogics seems a tad faster, especially for my external HDs. Defraggler has more customization of defragment parameters.

One thing I like about Defraggler that I wish would be added to Auslogics Defrag -- is the ability to mark certain files (or folders) that would be moved to the back of the disk. Very useful for items which are accessed infrequently, and thus do not need to be in faster area of disk. Examples such as large media or archival files. (Defraggler allows to specify size parameter and file extension parameter).
It would be great to have this feature in Auslogics Defrag.

And would be even better would be if it could also allow specifying folder(s), such as System Volume Information, etc., to be defragged and written to back end of disk.

Currently, when I have used Defraggler to move such files to back end of disk, then I mark those as to be Ignored by Auslogics Defrag. Note that Auslogics has a very easy-to-use way to right-click to ignore or resume op on individual files.

One other concern, Auslogics analyzes and tries to defrag two partition volumes on same physical disk simultaneously, which I think is causing too much disk access contention. I think multiple volumes on same physical disk should be done sequentially (not simultaneously). I have a C: and D: volume on my main internal HD and can see the simultaneous access on their activity graph. (I have previously sent comment suggestion in on this, and it seemed to be implemented for one release, then back to old simultaneous behavior.)

If these look like possible improvements, would love to hear it!

One last question: the Policy tab here states that "For versions after that, upgrades will require additional payment, which will not be discounted."
Is that accurate - or a typo?
The normal thing seems to be that most software vendors allow upgrades to future major version at significant discount (often 50%). So if policy is to require me (or any buyer) to re-buy each new version at full price, that is not a good or realistic policy, in my opinion.

Amit I know of auslogics free edition popularity. but have been lately seen more recommendations for PURAN free defrag. Also i have O&O pro version. Any comparison of how Auslogics still has the edge over them ?

John Australia I was keen to grab this deal, but it seems the license is an annual one, and updates must be purchased in order to continue using the software - otherwise it expires... The website also states that the license is checked online every week.

This all seems rather extreme...

Alby L When I set defrag by Time it isn't retaining the settings.I have it set for Weekly but it keeps reverting back to Daily.

The annual subscription allows users to receive all program updates during the year. However, if you don’t renew your subscription, the program will remain fully functional on your computer, but you will not be able to update it to newer versions. There are certain situations when subscription status may change (like when a user renews their subscription, or asks for a refund after activating their license, or when we change the subscription status at a user's request, etc.) - the program has to check the subscription status to keep it up to date. This is common practice in the industry today.

Many of these features are already implemented in Auslogics Disk Defrag Pro – it has so many customization options! You should get the free trial – you may really like it. In the Optimize by Disk Zone mode you can set various types and sizes of files to be placed in the fast and slow zones. There is also optimization by access time, by change time, by Prefetch data, free space consolidation.
As for the upgrade question, this was a typo and we have corrected it.
