Automise 2 Lite does include a Scheduler for time based triggers and running projects when the computer starts or you log on. You can find it under the Tools menu. But it is true that it doesn't include other event based triggers (yet). For now, these can only be implemented through work arounds, such as having it automatically monitor a specified file for changes.

Please let us know the type of event based triggers you would like to use so that we can look at including them in future releases.

anony mous I would like to see the type of triggers present in Vista's task scheduler. Its event monitoring and triggers are based on the event log subsystem in Windows, so it should be easy to implement any action when a particular task takes place. Like when a combination of events have occurred and more fine-grained scheduling such as making something happen after a specified time AND after some event takes place etc. Also, I think the task/action library is quite limited. It should be way more comprehensive.

For future versions in general in the long-term, I would like to see in Automise the kind of easy and comprehensive automation, an app called Automator on the Mac provides. Some direct integration with VBScript and generating VBScripts and converting Automise actions to and from VBScripts would be a powerful addition.

This is very interesting, I've had a brief look but we will definitely be looking at it further for the next major release. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Also, I think the task/action library is quite limited. It should be way more comprehensive.

We'd love to hear the actions you would like included and I'd greatly appreciated if you took the time to email/post for us a list of them.

Some direct integration with VBScript and generating VBScripts and converting Automise actions to and from VBScripts would be a powerful addition.

Requests for this are beginning to come up very often. There are technical complications with including it in Automise but we are looking into what else we can do in this area. I'd happily discuss this further with you via email.

Jim M. Can it be used to copy cell by cell a large spreadsheet and then paste it cell by cell into another application? If so, does it remember all the copied values or would it require some sort of clipboard extender?

Brent Shepherd Hi Jim,

It depends on exactly what you need to do. If you can export the spreadsheet to a text file, you could use the File Contents Iterator to go row by row through the exported file, and use the GUI Automation features to enter each cell into the new spreadsheet.

Alternatively, you could use GUI Automation for both steps - selecting and copying each source cell, then selecting and pasting into the target spreadsheet.

Steven Avery Hi Folks,

Automise (during a previous Bits discount) received some nice plaudits from the very knowledgeable DonationCoder posters. Some of it was a bit in the techie, programmer and system management realm.

Apparently there is a mixed, fairly-wide-ranging usage possible. Worthy of at least a download and trial for the day.

Chaim Krause I purchased Automise 1 when BdJ had it many months ago. I purchased a copy of Automise 2 Lite today. If you are on the fence with this one, don't hesitate. I highly recommend the purchase. If you are also thinking that you could probably use this in the future but don't have the time to evaluate it, I suggest you take the plunge. You will kick yourself if you dont' get it at this price.
