fran harter This is excellent timing.

I have this on a pc that is coming up for a renewal of Avira.
[I have a different vendor's product on my other 2 home pc's.]

Questions:

1. My current expiration of avira is in Oct or Nov 2009.

Can I buy & download the program during the bitsdujour sale
and then wait until later to activate it?

2. Is this a 1 license per PC offer?

3. if not, is it a fixed $19.99 per pc (I have 3 pc's at home)

Thank you in advance for your time.

screen o My questions are similar to another poster...

Can I buy & download the program during the Bits du Jour sale
and then wait until later to activate it?

Is this a 1 year license for 1 PC?

And I wanted to include an email addy for a reply but I'm unclear on whether or not the email addy is published with the question?

Thank you for the offer. :)

Mr. Yoop I would also be interested in exactly which version would be on sale on Bits du Jour, i.e. the number of users and how long signature updates are included. Another question is if this offer is only restricted to the internation, i.e. English version or if other languages like German are also covered by this license.

Furthermore, is there also a chance to get the Avira Premium Security Suite with a Bits du Jour discount? It includes some additional features like a spam filter or a backup system which I am also interested in.

Thanks for your clarification in advance!

Yoop.

Not Too Impressed Does everyone like the way no one from Avira has taken the time to respond to the questions being asked? Lots of confusion about how long the license is good for and when the activation begins---- is it upon downloading the program or upon installation? Maybe an Avira rep will provide some answers????

M B Not Too Impressed: not that it really matters, but I don't think it's Avira making the offer - the vendor is listed as "Upclick" who have had a variety of BDJ offers that are unrelated to Avira (as far as I know): http://www.bitsdujour.com...r/upclick/

I assume this is some sort of Avira affiliate doing the sale.

Still, someone should be clearing up these questions.

R G I guess you get what you pay for, and it starts here. The lack of feedback to potential customers' concerns is not very good PR for UpClick - which also rubs off on Avira. It shouldn't take 3 work days for any serious business to address the questions raised.

Cathy Smith My apologies for the delayed response- as you can see, this offer is available Sept 5th. Our team is very quick to respond to user questions on any bitsdujour.com daily deal that runs through UpClick ( cart provider), but as it appears - many users have stumbled on the deal before the release date. I will continue to follow up with this comment board to stay on top of any questions you have.
The product will be sold as one license for one pc. You always have a moneyback guarantee of 30 days with the product, but we stand behind the Avira brand that you will be satisfied with the software.
Our 24 /7 billing support is available by telephone and email to assist customers too.
To answer fran harter's question, you can activate this product at anytime.
Best,
UpClick

corina mota MB,
UpClick is an ecommerce platform that has a vast number of large merchant software in the network. We enable merchants and affiliates to work together directly, but no - we are not an affiliate. We host the credit card page and enable the transaction to process while delivering the exe link and license key to the customer.
Hope this clarifies your comment.
thanks.

R G Thank you for responding.

Yes, I think most deals are visible a week or so in advance. Some products get little or no comments until the actual release, and some get it from the day the deal has "gone public".

I believe another of the questions were if this is a 1-year or a 2-year license?

I am already an Avira user, but since this deal has the option to be activated anytime, I might take the opportunity to get a "renewal" for a good price.

regards,
R

corina mota RB,
Thanks for the comments- I answered the term of the license question previously - it is one year.

R G I assume that reply was for me? ("RB")

I must be blind, because I only see "one license for one pc" - nothing mentioning the duration in your earlier posts. Got it from your 3:45 post though :)

Thank you

R G Without being a smartass:

A 1-year subscription for Avira Antivir premium, through Avira's own website, is $26.95. I can't see how it can be credited a list price @ $38.45 in this offer, if you're correct about the license duration?

A 2-year license is $44.95 ($38.45 + $6.50 as a non negotiable donation) which would be what I (and others who have left comments here) had expected considering the list price info given.

screen o Hi corina mota

Good to see you here, but it appears that you are not answering all of the questions. Can I buy & download the program during the Bits du Jour sale and then wait until later to activate it?

Also, despite telling RG (or RB ,as you call him) that you already answered his question, you didn't. Not until later. That was weird.

And your reference to "many users have stumbled on the deal before the release date" is equally odd. Isn't that why Bits du Jour publishes a list of upcoming offerings? So we can "stumble" on the deal?

Frustrating is a good word for this Q&A experience. :(

R G You're welcome.

I still wonder how the list price can be $38.45 when a 1-year license is $26.95 from Avira's own webshop?

Ed H I think it would help if the math in the ad above was corrected. Since it is only for 1 year then it is a $7 discount or 26%.
Sep 3 2009 at 9:59am Copy Link

av boy The existing math would be more correct like this. 2 years license from Avira minus the donation to the Aeurbach foundation is $38.45. So 19.95 is 49% saving. But Upclick is saying its a 1 year license!!! So as of now the math shown is wrong (as Ed H pointed out)

Rick zanzzan I agree with comments above, there is no saving basically. My reading of the Avira website at the moment is that to buy a one year, 1 PC licence, less the donation is US$20.45. Am I missing something here?
corina mota, thanks for your comments; re "...many users have stumbled on the deal before the release date", I'm sure many people, if they're like me, are avidly interested in pending deals, hence the interest, so perhaps "stumbled" is not quite the right word.
BTW I really appreciate Bits du Jour, I have had some great deals here which makes me think Avira should be answering these questions.
Thanks, Rick (zanzzan)

av boy Hi Rick I completely agree with you. I dont want to make it a bashing thread, but there are many places on the internet where you can buy the copy of Antivir premium without the donation to the foundation. So $19.95 works out to be *almost* the actual cost of Avira for 1 year, no discounts as such.

As you said, I also look forward to all the upcoming deals as I have got some love deals from Bitsdujour (and that's why the future deals link is there), and that's why I know exactly what the deal is a week in advance as soon as it is put up here. So it is not a case of "sudden stumbling".
Sep 4 2009 at 12:30am Copy Link

av boy AFAIK, Avira generates the license file the day you buy the product (whether you start using it or not). So I really don't know if it can be activated later with *full 364 days* remaining. As I said, I dont know what this deal is, but it is better to check before buying.

Roger Thomasson Folks, as you can see, we've decided that it'd be best to sort out this discount situation before we move forward with the promotion. Corina is attempting to contact Avira, but being that it's near the end of the work week, I'm not confident that we'll have it sorted out by tomorrow.

Please do sign up for notification via the link at the top of the promo page. We'll reschedule this deal AS SOON as we possibly can. Either way, I'll keep you all informed as to our progress via this comment board.

Again, I apologize for all the confusion and any inconvenience!

R G I think all visitors/potential buyers appreciates that this is being looked into, and hopefully solved, before the deal goes "live".

I also think that av boy's concern regarding the Avira's license method is a valid one. If anyone would like to get in on this deal, but not start using the program until later, it would help to know for sure that this deal CAN be used that way.

Personally, I will just prolong my current license.
Well, depending on if the deal is better than what it looks like right now :)

R

It is normal to show me up 19.95$, and when I want to buy the price is 19.95_ ???
Sep 5 2009 at 8:13am Copy Link

corina mota Hi Florinakke,
It is normal to see the price the same in your own currency, since Avira can decide what price point to set for each global region. UpClick has no influence on this and simply handles the transaction on the credit card page.
Avira is a reliable software and we are proud to partner with them. Unfortunately, I was unable to reach my contact at their offices before their weekend hit - so although I earlier said that the product can be activated at a later time ( which is the case for most other products we have on our platform), 'av boy' made an interesting point that the license period may begin its countdown at point of purchase. This is the question that I am waiting to get an answer on and I will update this board thereafter.
David Do Do, if you wait for the 2010 version, it is highly unlikely that this key will activate that exe given that each key we have on our platform corresponds to one exe only. That is, the key given on the thank you page was created to activate this version only. Again, I need to wait on Avira's workweek in Europe to get the full answer.
Thanks for understanding,
Corina
