Sure, spellcheck is great for people who use Microsoft Word or other word processing software to produce their work, but what do you do when you live, work, and breathe code? How frustrating is it to load code into an editor, only to have all of your constants, variables, modules, class names, tags, and attributes get flagged as misspellings, simply because they're not part of the spellcheck program? Use BatchSpellChecker, and you'll never have to worry about this problem ever again!

BatchSpellChecker is a wonderful spell-checking utility designed with programmers, web developers, and coders in mind! With full code-awareness and support for more than 30 code formats, BatchSpellChecker can scan multiple files at once, ignoring the names of coding elements and letting you concentrate on fixing misspellings in client-facing text and messages!

When you're using BatchSpellChecker to check client-facing text such as dialog boxes, messages, and other strings, you'll be glad to know that BatchSpellChecker supports almost 100 languages, with the option of downloading additional dictionaries or creating your own custom dictionary with specific terms, identifiers, and autocorrect entries.

Jim Maioriello Hi, I installed the trial on a Win7 64bit environment to have a look, and I get a runtime error 215 when I click on the desktop icon.  I have a question; how long has this product been on the market.  I see the release date of the setup is June, 21 2010. Thanks, Jim

Vadim Malyarchuk Hello Jim,

Thank you for your comment!

BatchSpellChecker uses the hunspell library. Seems like it works incorrectly under 64bit Windows. We will try to find a compatible version and make the update as soon as possible.

This is the second public release of BatchSpellChecker. It was successfully tested with 32bit versions of Windows XP and Windows 7.

S B Vadim, Thanks for answering Jim's question so quickly. BatchSpellChecker looks like a great app, and there are probably a number of us waiting for Windows 7 x64 support. Our interested in BatchSpellChecker probably stems from our general interest in brand-new tools and technologies. Good luck in implementing and validating the 64-bit version quickly! Someday you might make it a plug-in for development environments.

Jim Maioriello Thanks Vadim,  I will look forward to your 64-bit install.  In the meantime, I have installed it on another machine running Win7 32 bit and will give it a test spin.  Regards, Jim

Bob Criswell Please count me as someone who would also need a 64 bit version.  I'll test on 32 bit machine.

Stephane M Thanks Vadim I will try it on my 64-bit machines soon.

For now I have been testing it in a 32-bit VM and could you tell me how to download more dictionaries and how to switch between different languages? I can just see the english dictionary in the version I downloaded.

Also, I guess the code format is based on the file extension but is there a way to tell BatchSpellChecker which code format we are editing in case we want to force it?

Thanks.

Vadim Malyarchuk You can use the "Automatic Updates" feature (Help -> Check For Updates) to download the most popular dictionaries. Just make sure you have enabled the "Download optional components" option in the program's preferences (Options -> Automatic Updates).

Or you can download the needed dictionaries manually from the following page http://wiki.services.open...ctionaries and unzip them to the c:\users\all users\appdata\roaming\badhim\BatchSpellChecker\dict folder.

BatchSpellChecker uses all the downloaded dictionaries  simultaneously, and defines the code format depending on both the file extension and its content. We are planning to add the ability to  switch those parameters manually in the upcoming versions of BatchSpellChecker.
