Oleg Gerasymchuck Hello, Peter R

We so sorry, but BonAView don't officially support 64 bit versions of operating systems. So there may be some problems with running application.

Best regards,
Oleg

Frank Stephens The price is right, but I think that you're going to have a hard time going up against the free Microsoft Windows Live Photo Gallery 2011 for Vista and higher, which does support 64-bits. It has batch and individual photo editing (double-click the photo, does more than the batch editing). It supports all kinds of tags, flags, ratings, captions, and facial-recognition features, etc. It has a GUI for Windows Search, or you can just use the full power of Windows Search from Windows Explorer. It supports other editors, like the free Paint.NET.

Oleg Gerasymchuck Hello Frank,
First of all, I want to thank you for your comment.
As for Microsoft Windows Live Photo Gallery 2011 for Vista, I don't use it, because I have Windows XP, like, I think, a lot of others, that make it impossible to run Photo Gallery 2011 (and this is a first plus for BonAView, that supports XP).
The second I want to say, that BonAView has EXIF and IPTC editors, which helps you to tag your photos as you want. Also with BonAView you can easy rate, add captions and assign _hierarchical_ categories to your images.
As for Windows Search, I haven't saw it in action, but I want to say, that BonAView is storing info about all cataloged photos in database. So after clicking on Search button you will get your search results in less than one second. Also you can always filter your search results (or your current catalog's or category's content) to hide unwanted photos.
Beside embedded image editor (which has one-click image enhancer, red eye removal, cropping, rotating, resampling and other tools) and easy-to-use image annotator, you can also use other editors with BonAview, like, as you say, Paint.NET, or Adobe Photoshop, or GIMP and others.
Finally, nothing prevents you to use BonAView and Photo Gallery together.
Best regards,
Oleg

Al Soto I downloaded the trial version. Why when you move a pic from one folder to another it addresses DRIVE "A", the floppy drive. It seems like it wants to write to it. Also, its a very slow process

Oleg Gerasymchuck Hello Al,
No it doesn't. When it happens? When you selecting a destination folder? If so then BonAView just looking for your drives to show you your directory tree.
Thank you for your report. We will solve this problem in one of the future releases.
Best regards,
Oleg Gerasymchuck

Oleg Gerasymchuck Al, also if you use your drive A not frequently, you can disable it in Windows configuration, to prevent this problem for now.

Software Guy Just a comment - anything in the windows live family is an online app. once live is activated, internet explorer will bog down as it goes to a list of live sites before it returns the active control of the cursor to the user. Most people quickly uninstall or disable windows live because of this. So I do not see photo gallery as competition, as another reviewer mentioned.
Next comment - this vendor is using digital river share-it to process sales. This has traditionally been a problematic shopping cart for many as it does not take any msn, live, yahoo or many other email addresses. It wants to call all of them free email (most are not) then goes on to make your purchase even more trying, as another reviewer has commented. It is believed that this paractice of using digital river costs the vendor about 30% in US sales (out of frustration) and turns off all of the affected US buyers that wish to make a simple purchase. So, if bona view looks good to you but you can't buy it, I would suggest writing directly to high motion software about the issue. This same issue comes up over and over again, and digital river does nothing about it. Be forwarned.

Oleg Gerasymchuck Hello Software Guy,
Thank you for your comment. We didn't know about this situation for US customers. So in future, we will add another purchase method, which will be more comfortable for US buyers.

Al Soto Yes, too bad its frustrating to purchase with digital river. I really liked how BonAView looked and worked.

Also true about Windows Live. I killed it right away. Nice but too much resources being used

Frank Stephens Software Guy, false, the products in the Windows Live Essentials 2011 family install locally and they don't use Internet Explorer. My firewall shows only a very short text transaction with spaces.live.com when they run; it's common for most software to communicate briefly over the Internet. All of my Windows Live applications open instantly. I don't know what you mean by "disable Windows Live", the individual products (you can just install what you want) generally don't run when you're not using them (Messenger is likely to run, but I don't use it). The "Live" part is that they all support sharing over the Internet, and not just to Microsoft services. You can explore Windows Live Photo Gallery here:

Note that the headings are active links, and there are videos for the various features.
