Okay, two scenarios, which is more annoying?

One: you've been away from home for two weeks on a business trip overseas. Things went well but it was a grueling succession of meetings, presentations, pitches, Q&As and unusual food. You've got a ten hour flight home. There's no in-flight movie. That's not the annoying part though, because at the airport you found a copy of your favorite science fiction film filled with silly names, ridiculous gadgets, specious science, Shakespearean power-plays. When you get on the plane, you realize that the DVD has the wrong "country code"; it won't play on your laptop!

OR

Two: the FBI warning, self-congratulatory studio production montages and other preliminary nonsense that you are forced to sit through every time you sit down to watch one of your favorite DVDs.

Which is it?

It's both.

And now these two problems can be solved quickly and quietly with DVD Unlocker.

DVD Unlocker works on any PC DVD drive, and you don't even have to ask. It just quietly unlocks any DVD you put into your PC. It handles forced ads, country codes, forced subtitles, copy protection, warning screens and anything else they try to make you sit through. You paid for the DVD, so shouldn't you have control over it?

Free your DVDs with DVD Unlocker!

After you purchase DVD Unlocker, it may be used for 12 months.

This promotion includes the following:
DVD Unlocker 1 year ($29.99)
DVD Unlocker 2 year ($39.99)
DVD Unlocker 3 year ($49.99)
DVD Unlocker 4 year ($59.99)
DVD Unlocker Unlimited ($69.99)

Jason Howard "purchase allows use for 12 months."

So this is like a rental - after 12 months you have nothing?

Eugene Kharinsky Prolonged subscription costs less then first purchase and you can always get unlimited version. We offer unlimited as basic, but a lot of our clients wanted prolonged trial or lower price so we issued this model.
Now you will be able to order any DVD Unlocker license you like with 81% discount. We just removed any limits here.

Stephane M Hi,
The policy here says 1 month return policy but on the RFDVD order page there is the following note:

Please, be warned that we sell our software as "try-before-buy" and everyone has 30 days of fully functional software to ensure is it meet your requirements. We will not refund if you are not satisfied with our software. So again please test our software through and only then make decision to buy or not to buy.

So I take it the RFDVD website is up to date and there is no return policy, am I right?

Thanks.

My apologies it is really so.
DVD Unlocker has 30 days of unlimited fully-functional trial. A registration key only prolongs this date or make it unlimited. So normally we ask people to buy our software wisely (As we gets annoying expenditure on issuing refunds).
I understand that users on bitsdujour.com are unable to test DVD Unlocker fully as other people so I will fix this on our order page and offer 30 days money back.

Louis H Are there any plans to include coverage of Blu-Ray discs in the near (or distant) future?

and....

How does this product compare (feature wise) to something like DVDFab's PassKey? (Other than this offer for 81% off a lifetime license being a massive savings off of DVDFab's PassKey pricing.)

Thanks.

Patrick Leahy OK, I installed the program on W7 64bit and cannot even access the program. I am presented with a Name, Email address and registration box and when I don't fill all out the only thing I can do is press cancel and away goes the program.

So, how does one get a 30 day free trial???
Apr 7 2011 at 10:40pm Copy Link

Eugene Kharinsky We developing Blue-Ray disk support now but it's not fully-functional yet. I think we gonna release it withing a year.

Regarding DVDFab Passkey Lite I will take a look at it and write answer a bit later, as I haven't seen this software on DVDFab yet.

We do not support Win 64 bit.

If you still want to try you need to load our driver manually (every time you start your PC) as it is not certified by Microsoft.

DVD Unlocker license is constructed on day count so getting a 1 year license makes it active for 365 days. Installing a trial gives you 30 days automatically. Daycheck is built in driver so if you run Win64 system driver is unable to load and therefore you can't try DVD Unlocker.

We have done a little testing on Win64 so I specially don't want to write any hacks here on how to load DVD Unlocker driver in Win64.

We are intend to add x64 support in future versions.

Patrick Leahy Here we go again. After comment above I noticed my DVD drive had totally disappeared off W7. Nothing would bring it back.

System restore to before DVD unlocker, it's back again. I think this program has enough problems to keep me away.

Have you run Win 7 32 or 64 bit?

Patrick Leahy Eugene!!
It messed up my 64 bit W7 and I lost the DVD player. After fixing that problem with system restore I next attempted to install your program on my Vista 32 bit system.

This time I was allowed the trial of the program however your program could not find my DVD player, it said there was no DVD player installed. Now this unit is Pioneer and one of the least problematic on the market. Never gives me an ounce of a problem, ever.

So without a DVD player according to your program I cannot backup any DVD's as your program cannot see them. Vista can see the drive but not DVD Unlocker.

So unless you come up with a good fix in 24 hours, I won't be buying.

We are testing the problem you got on your system and trying to repeat similar bug, so it will be fixed ASAP.
You can help us greatly if you write me what software with drivers you have installed on your Vista 32 bit system. And even more if you would install DVD Unlocker again with a log writing system. Please let me know if you agree at supportrfdvd.com.

Stephane M Having 64-bit systems only I am actually hesitating to give it a try.
I do not want to lose my DVD player/writer after installing or uninstalling it.
Eugene, you said that you are planning to add 64-bit support, is it in the near future?
Thanks.

Now DVD Unlocker simply doesn't work on x64, so as a fair player I would not recommend it to you.
Yes, we plan x64 support but this is a work of months not a weeks.

Dan P Ouch! I just noticed that both my DVD drives are gone and I purchased the unlimited version for Windows 7 64 bit. The key provided says it's invalid. I try to visit the support page provided in the email and it's invalid as well. What gives?

Eugene Kharinsky Again people, please, do not order DVD Unlocker for 64bit until you are ready to wait several months when we release 64 bit version.

We never stated that it works on 64 bit and we will not until we test it through a hundred times.

Please be responsible as ordering and then asking for refund is not good for any software vendor.

Stephane M Eugene,
I have a few questions...

The policy here says it is licensed for family use.
Does the mean I just need to buy one license and I can install it on all my family computers?

It also says an email activation is required.
How many activations per license is allowed? Any limits?

And to be sure, If i buy the unlimited license, does that really mean I will get all the future updates and upgrades (new major versions) for free with no limitations?

Thanks.

Stan @Eugene: There is a link to a forum at your website but it doesn't exist. And where can I find informations about the recent version and/or changelogs?

Eugene Kharinsky Stephane M
Yes you can install it at home on several PCs. Why not? I'm sure everyone make it so don't know why software vendors make it legal.
Yes again unlimited license was developed to provide VIP service. Even if we make paid updates this will not affect previous customers.

I still can get my hands to forum, my fault. But I promise it will be online within month.
Regarding changelogs: I never thought it could be useful to anyone, but looks like I'm wrong. I'll release them asap in couple of days.

Looks like I have solution for you thanks to Dan Panke.
I cannot fully test it as I can't repeat this problem with missing drives. You need to use MS Fix it tool. You can find it at http://support.microsoft....lems/en-us
We going to test DVD Unlocker and find out in which cases comes this problem, but for everyone who experience it right now MS Fix It could be useful.
Dan Panke thank you again very much.

Stephane M Thanks Eugene.

What about the email activation? Is there any problems to get DVD Unlocker activated several times with the same license?

Also, is the activation process automatic or we need to wait for someone to reply?

All registration info is sent automatically. Except if your order is processed by PayPro manually, there will be 3-5 minutes delay. However I don't think it's gonna be a problem if you don't get registration key in time. As demo version has the only one limit (30 days) I bet even the slowest email conversation will end.

Key is not attached to hardware.

Stephane M Thanks Eugene,
Actually I was not talking about receiving registration information after purchasing it but more about activation once we received the registration information as the policy says an email activation is required.
So basically it is when we install and activate it on a machine.
Unless there is no email activation after all and we just need to enter the same license key on each machine.

Stephane M Well I am in the same situation here...I finally got a machine with Vista 32-bit to test it but once installed it does not seem to do anything.
I cannot play DVD's in zone 2 for instance (I am in zone 1).
No device are detected in the Status tab and no help at all.
I have not tried to uninstall it yet but I am afraid to lose my drive like Rob and others who tried this software.

@Eugene, I am sorry to ask this but is this software working?

rob smith The only way to completely uninstall this was to do a system restore almost like it is a virus. did anyone even look at the help screen just some info about running commands in some other program

Stephane M @Rob, yes I did look at the help as well and it has nothing to do with the product, it is a help about C#...what is that?

Wearsie Jackson I tried DVDFab Passkey on Lilo and Stich without success (Win7, 64 bit).

Too bad DVD Unlocker won't work with 64 bit for a while. (I understand it's not a trivial change, so I hope you come back to BDJ when it's released and tested). Good luck Eugene.

Louis H While I can't use this one right now - (Win 7 64 bit) - I wanted to take a moment and thank you, Eugene, for being willing to spend your time on a Sunday to be around to seek to answer folks questions and offer assistance. For that reason alone, I will keep your product in mind and look towards a future trial once you get it working on 64 bit machines.

Stan Same here: After uninstalling the software my dvd drive is gone

edit: I think that you have to remove the driver with "remove.bat" first (you can find it in the program directory). Then uninstall the program with the standard uninstall tool and reboot. After that my CD/DVD - drives are still present.

Stephen Warkentien I bought my last 32-bit system over three years ago because it can not address more than 4 GB of main memory. I must pass for now.

Please offer this again when you have fully tested your 64-bit version.
