Nelson Carvalho This research software is a must. Very complete. Perfect operation. I bought it a few years ago and I use it frequently. The research has several resources and the results are quite accurate.

soo mi @Nelson Carvalho,

Would you please explain / provide an example as to how you use this software as a research tool? I must confess that I have not seen this attribute of the software, and look forward to hearing how it has helped you so.

Nelson Carvalho I have several drives (external and partitions). These drives have countless files.
I often have to search for a file that I don't know exactly the name of. A simple search using, for example: * abc *. *, brings me the result very quickly.
In addition, I can define various filters such as dates, size, etc., exclude paths / files, etc.
The drives and / or paths that I use are recorded for further research, avoiding having to retype them.
The result appears in an explorer with the data of the files (s) found and several options to manipulate them, selecting one or more files.
Anyway, it works very well, it is very fast and the support is efficient.
I hope I have answered your question properly.

soo mi @Nelson Carvalho,

Thank you for your answer. In my case, I have (now had) been using the freeware "SearchMyFiles" for the same reason. In my case, I viewed it as having been due to hard drives that were as cluttered as my desk (and mind), rather than "research." In the future, I will use your description, instead, when someone asks me what I'm doing...

Bjondc I discovered that I had bought the "Pro Standard" license a few years (& a couple of computers) ago. d/l current version & license # still works.
But I was wondering if there's a way to 'pay the difference' and upgrade to get the "Pro personal" license so I can use on more than one PC.
Thanks.

bvssunnydale Do you have a comparison of FileSeek with (free) Void Tool's Search Everything app? I'm looking for a reason to prefer FileSeek. Thanks.

Nelson Carvalho Virtually all NirSoft software is excellent. SearchMyFiles could not be different. If it is enough, and it can be, because it has several resources, it is best to use it. I believe that Fileseek has a few extra resources and I like having a company offering support and the commitment and motivation to improve the product, receiving something in return.
