Michael Reason I installed this software and it disabled the hard drive monitoring on my Windows 7 system. I followed instructions to reinstate this and also to prevent Sentinel fro re-setting counters. It worked for a while and then disabled them.

This program seems to be badly coded and I do not recommend it.

Which particular W7 utility is Michael referring to here?

Sandra Chung @Janos Mathe : Double bonus, as the hard drive was still under warranty. Of course, that doesn't do anything about data loss. Was very glad I was able to off load all the data before total drive failure. Well worth the money spent for this program.

Constantin Florea @ckaraca ckaraca, I am sorry about the issue. The 50% discount ended yesterday 18th of January 2016 approximately 25.5 hours ago. Since then, the discounted price has changed for the Buy Now link (back at $23.96) but we missed updating it in time in the promotion page. It is now updated to reflect the price from the shopping cart.

Lazar Voin I bought the Standard and Pro Family v4.5 I think was, and you have to buy another for every minor update like 4.6 now is 4.7; What kind of rip-off is this !?
Mar 14 2016 at 8:47am Copy Link
Janos Mathe Hi Lazar,
Sorry for the confusion, but I can confirm that this is absolutely not true.
Exactly the opposite: Hard Disk Sentinel comes with lifetime license and lifetime free updates to all future versions.

So if you have one license (ordered any time) you can use the current, latest version for unlimited time and can update to all future versions for free by the automatic update from the File menu.

You never need to order again - unless you prefer to use the software on more computers at the same time.

Sorry again for a possible confusion.

Janos Mathe I wonder why 4.40 displayed as current version on this page...

The current version is 4.71 but with the license you can use all future versions (5.00, 6.00 and so)

Constantin Florea @Janos Mathe, I updated the version to 4.71 in this promotion page.

Lazar Voin Do you consider upgrading to SSD from HDD another computer ! Or replacing the motherboard in order to have the USB 3 and now 3.1 working right ? That's what I did, I wrote to you and no response back whatsoever !

Look the emails with my name or I resend them in public !
Mar 14 2016 at 11:39am Copy Link
Janos Mathe I can confirm that there is no problem if you need to reinstall the system, replace the hard disk to SSD, replace the motherboard (or even the complete hardware).
Then Hard Disk Sentinel license can be moved to the new system without problems: you can reinstall and continue using your existing license.

If you plan reinstallation, you can even backup the current configuration (settings, statistics, logs, registration details etc.) by the Configuration -> Update -> Backup configuration function. This saves all settings, statistics, registration
and activation details to a single file.
Then you can load back on the new system to re-load all previous statistics, settings too - which may be important if you plan to continue using some hard disks / SSDs and want to keep existing statistics.

I double checked but I'm afraid I did not receive any of your e-mails :-(
I searched for your name and e-mail address too.
Generally I always anwer to all e-mails, reports very shortly (many users may confirm) or in 1-2 days in worst case. But if I did not receive the message, I could not reply. Then if possible, please try to
- re-send your message from different e-mail address
- use the Report menu -> Send test report to developer option in Hard Disk Sentinel
- use the About -> Contact us form on
as this way hopefully I'll receive your message (and can answer - if your mail server also allow that)

Ps. I'm now sending this message in e-mail to you.
If you receive it, please confirm - and may try to re-send your message / question and I'll try to answer as soon as possible.

James User I have Hard Disk Sentinel Standard Edition and would like to get the Pro edition.
However I notice the Pro edition does not say it works with Windows 10 Pro?
It does say the standard edition does but not the Pro edition.
I have run across other programs I like that won't run on Windows 10 Pro like Powerdesk.
Can you help me with that?

Janos Mathe Excuse me for the possible confusion.
I can confirm that both versions of Hard Disk Sentinel (including the Pro version of course) runs under Windows 10, without problems.
As you may see on the official website it is displayed that Windows 10 compatible.

The Pro promo page ( ) even shows screenshots created under Windows 10 (with an older version which already supports windows 10).

Hans User Will it work on raid array and NAS drives? Or only on intwrbak single drives and USB connected external drives?
Thanks in advance for answering
Oct 17 2017 at 2:33am Copy Link
Janos Mathe Yes, Hard Disk Sentinel works with most RAID controllers and RAID arrays: it can detect and display complete status information of all connected and managed hard disks, even in RAID configuration.
This works with most onboard RAID controllers and add-on special (SATA/SAS and some older IDE/SCSI) RAID controllers too.
Please see the Compatibility list of RAID controllers:

The trial version designed exactly to verify compatibility. So I recommend to download the latest possible version
( ) to verify. You may use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option, as then it is possible to check the actual situation, if something is not 100% perfect, I can advise (for example if a driver update required, this may be possible with some RAID controllers).

This latest version also suppots NAS monitoring too - if the NAS supports that.
Please check
for complete information, tutorial and description about how it is possible and how to configure NAS monitoring too with this 5.01.8 version.

Patrocle Misu So this is a lifetime free updates? from version 5 to 6,7,etc...?
Sep 29 2018 at 3:23am Copy Link
Janos Mathe Yes, Hard Disk Sentinel Professional offered with lifetime license and lifetime free updates to ALL future versions (6.xx, 7.xx and so).

The only requirement is that at any given time, the license should be used on 1 computer (or 5 computers if you select the Hard Disk Sentinel Pro Family license). Can be moved to new system of course if required.

Patrocle Misu Thanks for reply.

Other question:
Repair & Bypass Bad Sector On Hard Drive With HD Sentinel
Is that safe way in what his doing in the video? or hdd still may go down for poor health?

Question 2:
I my computer goes down, i can install / transfer HDD Sentinel to my new windows install ? and is free of charge ?

Sep 29 2018 at 8:53am Copy Link
Janos Mathe Please read -> Support -> Frequently Asked Questions -> How to repair hard disk drive? How to eliminate displayed hard disk problems?

which describes the situation correctly with details.
Yes, you can acknowledge problems and clear the error counters - but this is recommended ONLY after performing the tests by Hard Disk Sentinel first to reveal and fix, stabilize problems, force the hard disk to reallocate bad sectors and so.

THEN yes, it is safe to clear the error-counters to acknowledge problems previously detected (which are no longer applicable) to be notified about possible new problems only. So after this procedure, Hard Disk Sentinel will no longer report those problems and the health is restored.

Without performing the tests if the drive is not stable, new and new problems may likely occur.
H.D.S. Hungary - Sep 29 2018 at 9:08am Copy Link
Janos Mathe Yes, I can confirm that the license can be moved to new system if required.
I already wrote this above, see the previous answer ;-)
