correct. The 6 months of free upgrade period is a bonus to our customers to get any newer version (including major release) for free.

Michael Mortimer I don't mind the 6 months upgrade period as long as the Company does not come up with a "have to pay" upgrade in month 9 or 10. :(

I judge all Bits offerings based on utility first. I then visit the developer's site to see how professional it is put together. If I get a good feeling on both these, I download the offering.

I then use the program briefly to see what I think.

Suffice it to say, within the first half hour of using this compression program I made the purchase. I was especially impressed with the way the website is put together. The wisest decision was to include "before and after" pictures so we could compare compression benefits.

I have 400GB [yes I said GB] of pics taken since 1998, about the time I got my first digital camera. Being able to reduce the space the pics take is one benefit, but the major benefit today is my posting pics online, on forums, blogs and my own websites. I often have to open Adobe and reduce the picture size in order to comply with the site's posting requirements, usually a limitation on size or to simply be courteous to people who don't have fast connections [smaller file sizes means faster page loading times.]

Having used maybe $150,000 to $200,000 in programs since 1988 and two terabyte in pics since that time, I can say that Bits in 2008 will be saving me a lot of time and file space.

Query: I wonder what the Pro version does compared to the Bit's offered Home version and how much that would cost Bits members. I always like buying Pro versions, but not if it costs too much. Will have to check it out.

M. Magers I have purchased several Bits Du Jour offerings in the past and have been satisfied with them. But along with Mr. Mortimer (above) I too, wonder what the differences are between the Pro and Home versions of this application?

I would appreciate the distinction between Home and Pro versions being made very clear in the Bits Du Jour descriptions -- I find it somewhat misleading to see "Image Compressor" offered on bitsdujour.com, but "Image Compressor Home Edition 2008" actually being sold when I arrive at the purchasing site.
