MediaIsland Professional 2.0 lets you take control over your media collection - video, audio, and photos, plus Flash animations - all on your own website using your own web server. Website owners running Microsoft Web Servers will rejoice at the ability to quickly and easily upload and share media without the hassles of logging into and managing several third party online resources. Add media to MediaIsland Professional 2.0 from any web connection around the world - if you can get to your web server, you can upload media! You can even allow other users to create and manage their own media libraries on your server using MediaIsland Professional 2.0!

Using MediaIsland Professional 2.0, you can upload up to ten files at a time, and MediaIsland Professional 2.0 automatically creates thumbnails and extracts metadata for each file while preserving the original format. Once you've finished uploading, you can use MediaIsland Professional 2.0 to edit, resize, rotate, rename, delete, play, or view your media. Share your media using one of 19 different website templates and choose from many skins for your audio, video, and digital photo players! Plus, MediaIsland Professional 2.0 is fully compatible with all internet browsers and compliant with web standards.

From an administrative standpoint, MediaIsland Professional 2.0 could not be any easier to set up. There are absolutely no database files, components, third-party software, or complex configuration steps required in order to implement MediaIsland Professional 2.0. Just set a few server settings, perform the drag-and-drop installation and you're ready to rock! And, if you ever change servers, MediaIsland Professional 2.0 can be moved over just as simply and easily as copying your media files.

Mitch Stokely Hello everyone. I am the developer of MediaIsland. If you are looking for a simple way to upload, store, and manage your multimedia files (audio, video, photographs) from within your website and server (Windows IIs), try MediaIsland. If you have any questions about the product, I am here to help. Thanks

Peter Wallace I am interested in the software but am confused. I am taking it that this is two different pieces of software? One on the server side and one on the client side that allows the editing, etc.... How exactly does this work? Does it create a portal on IIS automatically (I saw the mention of the templates). What versions of IIS does it support? Also, does it then handle streaming, etc...? So let's say I have a home video that I want to put up there. How do I do it and what devices can watch it and how is it watched - for example is it streamed, or is it a full download and run it? I see in the screen pics that there is a media player app - is that part of your application? Don't mistake my questions - I am VERY interested in buying but just need to know a little bit more. I am interested in having videos that I can put up and have family members or internal to my network allow people to come up and stream the video. For example - I want to record my kids dance recital, and allow her to use a PS3 or XBox 360 to watch it.

Also, what kind of scaling are we talking about? Can I put video on a NAS and still have this work properly(Not sure I want all the video on the server locally)? Is there a cap as far as size or quantity of objects? Any specs required on the server itself? If you would prefer to I would be interested in talking on the phone or something - might be easier for you to answer, etc...

Mitch Stokely Hi Peter and Jace,
MediaIsland is simply a folder of webscripts written in ASP.NET and ASP. You upload the folder of files to your website and server and surf to them in your browser. So it is simply a web site you install on your server and view with your browser. No desktop applications, plugins, etc. You go to the homepage of MediaIsland after upload and can set up your site. Think of it as a web portal where you go to upload a and manage your images. There is no client piece as both you and your clients view and manage media using your web browser. They come to your site, login and can start uploading and viewing media. There is a global admin account so you can create private media only you see. Has a full website security feature. As far as editing, it does not allow editing of media, except for the photo piece which has scaling and rotation. As far as streaming, it is not a streaming server, but because it supports all the major players (Windows Media, Real, Flash Video, Quicktime) those players can provide their own progressive stream. It uses the natural web server stream in that case. You could attach say Windows Media Services for WMV/WMA files and set up http streams to hook into the product,. with a few minor customizations. Unlike many sites, ours does support though all the various types of players. We do not download or install these. They are third party products. Because its a browser-based product, any devide, like a Wii with Opera, or other unit that has a browser can use MediaIsland. Its just a website. Only requirement is you must have a Windows IIS server. The upload feature will support any size upload but remember, over the Web, you are limited by bandwidth, connection speeds, server timeouts, and other variables. You can see better performance with compressed video for web delivery and upload ( 10 Meg). Should work on Home server. Hope that helps!
