Email, websites, video files, music, and funny pictures of cats wearing sombreros -- have you ever been curious as to exactly how much data you're uploading and downloading over the internet? Have you noticed a hit to your system's performance, and strange network activity at odd times? Wouldn't it be great if there were a way to track your computer's internet bandwidth? There is! It's called Net Meter Pro!

Net Meter Pro is worlds better than your typical bandwidth monitor. With Net Meter Pro, you have access to a visual representation of all of the data that's flowing into and out of your computer, in real time. It even combines IP mapping with Google Maps, so you can actually see where your data is headed!

The robust reporting module gives you 3D graphs and instant visual performance indicators that will show you, at a glance, how much data is pulsing through your internet connection at any given moment. You can even use Net Meter Pro to see each incident of network activity, including the timestamp, duration, and how much data was uploaded or downloaded. This is very useful in catching spyware that may be taking control of your system!

So, whether you're using WAN, LAN, WiFi, DSL, or even a dial-up modem to connect to the internet, Net Meter Pro can help you keep track of your bandwidth usage!

Lupke Brother When downloading this file Eset/Nod32 says it's a win32/installcore.d threat. I think this is a false positive. MBAM says it's clean. Anybody else with a positive?

Martin Platt Hi,

It's a false positive - AVG says it's fine.

Cheers,

Martin.

Lupke Brother thank you Martin,

I tested and it worked, but NMP is responding really very slow on my desktop (win 7 ultimate. 32 bits). Is this normal? It takes 5-10 seconds for the programm to respond when I click on a function.

Jenson Demorroy Does it monitor wifi?

Martin Platt Hi,

@M.Nazmi:

No network monitor can do this but NMP license allows you to install on up to 3 computers with no extra charge so you could install on both PCs and monitor like that.

Cheers,

Martin.

bob roos Cool program. There are a couple of things that don't quite add up. My local IP address is shown as 169.254.59.185 which is the address of the network connection to an inactive VirtualBox VM.

My big concern with bandwidth is the "robbers". I am measured and pay by the gigabyte. The little blips that go on all day are the ones I want to catch. You know, the 20kb every 15 seconds. That adds up

The write up mentions finding this sort of thing (perhaps spyware), but I don't see how to do it. The only map I found was of my IP address.

Is there a report of traffic by IP address? Thanks

Richard Blake If a v7 license purchased today is good through v8 - 2014 [whichever comes first or whichever comes last?] then my license, purchased 20 Oct 2009 through Bits Du Jour (v6.04 then current) should be good through v7 - 2012), right?
I do not see a license agreement here at BdJ or at the Wizard Software website or in my directory after installing the program, and it was not displayed during setup, so I cannot determine license duration on my own.
I downloaded via the link on the BdJ page and installed, intending to try my v6 key. There appears to be no way to enter one. Not close to a standard Windows interface, but I finally found the About box. It has a Buy button but no button to enter a registration key. Perhaps the download is an eval copy only and registered users download a separate file. But I can find no link on the Wizard site for registered users.
I see no user guide in the install directory, no help in the program and no link to online help in the shortcuts folder.
Rolling mouse over the big graphic at top-right give a fingertip pointer, but clicking does nothing. Should it?
Also, links in about box: page not found. http://www.netmeterpro.com/credits.php and http://www.netmeterpro.com/reviewers.php

Silat I noticed that there has not been an update since March 2010. As it seems the program is a little buggy why have updates not been forthcoming?

Richard Blake @Silat, my installed executable is dated 10/29/2011. I installed from the file downloaded via the link on this page. The cnet page, accessed via the Download link on WizardSoft page shows Date Added: March 2010. I don't know why that would be so long ago. cNet page also shows version as 7.01, but what I got is 7.02. (If 7.01 was posted 03/10 and 7.02 on 10/2011, then there certainly has been minimal work recently: perhaps a small bug fix or some adjustment to prepare for the BdJ offering - certainly no significant enhancement.) Regardless, comments above do suggest need for 7.1.

Silat Thanks for the verification Richard. I think I will pass on this offer. Maybe next time the owners will spend sometime on BitduJour if they want to make the sale:)

bob roos @Martin, no I am not. My LAN icon Status shows the correct address. Like I said, the address shown is the same address that is shown for the inactive connection to an inactive VirtualBox VM.

What about getting reports by destination IP address? That way I could track who is getting the traffic.

Richard Blake ill have not been able to figure out how to enter my license info after installing the current version. The only control I can find is a Buy button. Should the key be in a file in the install directory? I searched the Registry but found nothing. (I didn't have the earlier copy, downloaded at purchase, installed when I installed the current version.)
Bigger issue, though: What do I do with the information NMP is giving me? So there's some download traffic and some upload traffic. How do I determine whether something isn't right, diagnose exactly where the problem lies, and make adjustments to improve speed and/or eliminate things that are causing unwanted traffic?
Thanks.
