David Gilmour I have been looking for something like this, and am testing out New York Minute now. My initial observations are that the applications for Windows and Blackberry work fine (on Win 7 SP1 64-bit and 6.0 bundle 2178 respectively), but the Playbook application crashes on OS 2.0.0.6149 beta. Can we expect a Playbook OS 2 compatible version to be released soon? My main interest in this kind of application is to break away from the desktop and laptop, and to enjoy the relative freedom of using my Playbook for planning and organizing projects and tasks. Also, 20 GBP per year seems steep for a cloud sync service, especially given the sparse simplicity of the application.

The Escapers Hi David,
First of all, we're totally committed to compatibility with PlayBook OS 2.0, in fact I've run without problem on the emulator, but I've kept my personal Playbook on 1.x for the moment.

I can understand your concerns with the price, and I know often these services are expected to be free or at least cheaper than that. However, in most cases, developers just support a couple of platforms, say Mac and iPhone, that means the cost of development is lower than us, where we support many more platforms.

Also, we could not afford to be locked into a proprietary system like iCloud where we can't support every platform we want.

We're implementing new features right now to maximize the value of NYM (I know that sounds like marketing buzzwords, but it's true, I swear!).

I didn't want to go down the ad-based revenue path, and we didn't want to charge for each client, as that would cost us 30% of revenue at the app stores, and also work out too expensive for our users who use many different platforms.

I personally use the PlayBook, so I'd be looking to get a version out for OS 2.0 as soon as possible after the non-beta version comes out from RIM.

I hope that answers your questions.

All the best

Software Guy Very nice, clean interface enhances the usefulness and simplicity of the program. The software which is clearly targeted for people requiring coordination over normally incompatible interfaces which is a nice feature. So if you have a PC, a Mac and a blackberry you are in luck. However, if you use a win based PC and a win based laptop/netbook to coordinate as some of us do, you may find the price a bit steep. But the convenience of coordinating multiple devices through the internet may be worth it. Bear in mind that the basis of win 8 is to indroduce data compatibility across a diverse spectrum of devices. With NY minute you are able to sync a to do list with notes now, and do it easily. NY minute seems like an elegant solution to overcome data sharing and syncing problems that many people face The sharing/syncing is enough of a problem that most people jsimply do not take the time to do it. This program will let you update your schedule in the evening on your PC and have it instantly available on your phone throughout the day. Convenient.
There are a number of free and paid alternatives, but the elegant simplicity makes this program a strong competitior in the field.

The Escapers Hi William,
Thanks a lot for your comments on NYM, I can appreciate that if you don't use that many platforms, then the price might seem a little high.

All that I can say is that we've got a lot planned for New York Minute, new features as well as new platforms.

Thanks again for your comments.

Alexander Deliyannis In your website, Instruktion is mentioned as the sync service and NYM as the first product that uses it. Questions:

(a) Are there other products expected in the near future?

(b) Will they be covered by a single sync subscription, or will each be charged separately?

The Escapers Hi there,

A) depends on what you mean by near, but yes, new stuff is in the pipeline.

B) single subscription, absolutely.

Cheers
