Virtual reality gaming is on the rise. Mobile gaming is increasingly popular. Playing MMOs with headsets for voice chat and streaming the experience is all the rage.

Experts predicted all this years ago.

But who could have foreseen the rise of retro gaming? What sane person could have guessed that a credit card-sized single-board computer would become instrumental in the retro gaming explosion?

The versatile Raspberry Pi can emulate a vast collection of gaming platforms. Here’s what you need to know about RetroPie ROMs, downloads, and more.

Rick Truell Michael User:

"Anyone looked at this?"

Yup. Got my copy yesterday.

"They want a Work Email, Company Name, Job Title and Phone Number."

You'll quickly find out that they want a lot more than just that...as you enter some info, the form expands to request more specific info about that item.

"For a book."

The reason you need to enter a valid e-mail address is because once you submit the request for the e-book, they send to that e-mail address a link you use to actually download the e-book - no valid e-mail address, no e-book.

"No chance."

What, no imagination? The *e-mail address* has to be valid. That's a hint. And some of the other stuff has to be "reasonable" as well...so don't try giving a Texas address with a California ZIP code and New York phone number; they do a little validity checking. Other than that, though ... :-)

But if what you're worried about is getting SPAM from them, which I admit is definitely a valid concern, I've been getting e-books from them for a number of years now, and the only e-mails I've EVER gotten from them are ones with links to the e-books I've requested.

"I could use an old little used Gmail I setup a decade ago that hasn't died and make stuff up for the rest, but can't even be arsed to do that."

Then you might as well ignore any of the e-book deals that BDJ has, as they all require the same thing. However, it takes less than 5 minutes to fill out the form and from that point on, the web site remembers who you are...just click the "get it for free" button for an e-book and when it's done redirecting you, scroll to the bottom and click the "submit" button; easy-peasy.
