As a gamer myself, I know what it's like to be addicted to one of them Real Time Strategy (RTS) games. You know, the ones with the resource gathering, army management, and thrilling encounters where you play against other people online and make them eat dirt?
I also know what it's like to waste hours playing a Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game. You know, the ones with the quests, the auctions, the mass raids, and the thrilling encounters where you play against other people online and make them eat dirt?
Get ready -- Saga is an RTS wrapped in an MMO (with a little bit of TCG thrown in for good measure). Saga, my friends, is the world's first persistent online real-time strategy game. It's a fantasy world of elves, orcs, and dragons, but with so much more.
Like an RTS, Saga is a world where you build kingdoms and raise up armies, sending out gatherers to discover resources to expand the reach of your realm. Set the layout of your buildings in your village, then upgrade and expand structures until your little humble village grows to become a substantial fortress. There's weapons, armor, and also magic: Over 50 spells and 100 troop types that live and die by your command. Test the mettle of your forces by attacking other players' armies in hardcore PvP action.
Like an MMO, you can go on quests and raids in Saga, yielding fruit in the form of upgraded weapons, armor, and spells. And just like other MMOs, whatever you pick up that you don't want can be posted for sale on the trading board - then again, if you're like me, whatever profits you make from auction immediately get spent on better equipment. I buy better weapons so that I can go on raids to get the loot so that I can buy better weapons. It's a vicious cycle. The TCG aspect comes from the fact that there's collectible items and booster packs in the game that are hard to find but which greatly improve your abilities.
The best part of all of this is the persistent nature of Saga. As your kingdom and armies grow stronger, they continue to exist, waiting for the next time you login. With the ability to band together with other players to form guilds and compete for dominance, Saga is a thrilling game combining the best of all gaming worlds. Saga delivers a compelling experience with no monthly subscription costs!
