Stylizer Ultimate ScreenshotCode Editor Software Screenshot

Every once in a while we come across a piece of software that's leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. A product that makes us think "why don't they all work like this?"

Stylizer is one of those products.

Stylizer's older brother, StyleSpread, was a world-class CSS editor that quickly became one of the best-selling titles we've ever offered. StyleSpread was very cool, but Stylizer makes it look like a horse and carriage by comparison!

In terms of functionality, refinement, power and polish, Stylizer is miles ahead of StyleSpread, and light years ahead of the competition!

Download the completely free Stylizer Basic for 14-day access to Stylizer Ultimate and all of it's features. After the trial period, you can still use the basic version for many of your CSS-editing projects, but we think once you get used to Stylizer Ultimate, you won't be going back.

(Here's a rundown of the differences between Stylizer Basic and Stylizer Free)

adrian williams I started the program today, having installed it a few days ago. I'd installed Firefox3 in the meantime. Today, Stylizer asked if I wanted to upgrade - Yes I chose. When I ran the program after the update the firefox2 icon was grayed out. Does sylizer work with Firefox 3 ? or should I do something to get stylizer to recognise the firefox 3 install ?

Paul Young @Adrian

Stylizer has Firefox 2 embedded right inside the software, what's installed on your system doesn't affect it. We'll be adding Firefox 3 support very shortly.

Firefox is grayed out because it's not available in Stylizer Basic, which is the mode you're in. To use it, you have to switch to Ultimate mode. You do that by clicking "Use Ultimate" at the bottom of the window.

Also, make sure you run through the quick start at least once, it's pretty informative and will get you up to speed quickly.

Roy Grubb Hi, I completed the purchase at PayPal. PayPal's completion page told me to wait while I was re-directed to Skybound's page, which I did, and it redirected me to an https page that was blank. The status bar at the foot of the screen showed "Done". I waited a while but nothing else happened.

Should I get a registration key or further instructions?

I have received a confirmation email from PayPal and I have a record of the complete redirection page URL with all its session info if that helps.

adrian williams I just paid for it using the secure credit card option - I put the bits discount code in but the receipt and invoice on the system states that I've paid the full $69.95. There was no amount shown on the emailed receipt. Can you assure me that I've only paid the $19.97 as advertised. Thanks - Adrian

Jon G. The same thing happened to me as happened to Roy Grubb above. I have the PayPal confirmation email but no product yet. What do I have to do to push this forward?

Thanks!

Toni Setti "You do that by clicking "Use Ultimate" at the bottom of the window." Where?? I see no button.

Same thing with the tape measure button -- it's nowhere to be found.

Toni Setti Is there any way to change the depressing black of the program window and simply have a basic Windows theme?

Thanks.

Terry Slater Seems to be some problem with the initial eval mode. It's like the demo assumes the product is "ultimate" but the UI doesn't change.

Tutorial text is also cut off on the edges, strangely enough.

I saw lots of other little, nagging bugs during my brief demo period. It's a promising product, but needs some refinement IMO. Seems rushed or something.

Dave Keighan Hope there's some sort of email notification that I've purchased your product - your site [skybound software - I checked the url] blew up /after/ it was finished with PayPal.
Not very comforting.

Paul Young Hello all,

It seems a few people didn't get their product keys. We're on that right now, no worries.

@Tony, you can right-click in the style sheet area and choose "Light Background".

Also, are you in Stylizer Basic mode or Ultimate mode? (It says in the title bar). And are you using an old version? There was an update last Tuesday.

Chris Valenti The black interface is EXQUISITE!!!! (using the trial version until getting the key...above....). Wonderful program. The best of its kind for Windows!

Tony Setti Thanks, Paul. I'd already found out how to get the light background, which is a tremendous help, but the top of the program window is still depressingly dark, and I suspect one just has to live with that color scheme... :-(

And what about the missing buttons? I assume they're supposed to be somewhere at the bottom of the program window, below the text, but there's no way to scroll down that far, so I don't see them.

Or are they simply missing??

It doesn't say which Stylizer. And I downloaded it Tuesday the 17th at 4:15 pm Central time. Is there a newer version available? How can one tell what version is running?

Thanks.

Dave Keighan Thanks Paul.

So, is it [relatively] safe to assume that we can download the product, install it and wait for the the license key? There isn't a special licensed version to download in some secret url that you get by email.

Once you get the key, you plug it in and you're good to go?

Not having seen the last step in the process ... I haven't the foggiest idea.

Tony Setti @ Chris: "The black interface is EXQUISITE!!!!"
You say po-tah-to and I say po-tay-to... ;-)

Granted, it's pretty to look at -- for a few seconds. It's depressing to work in for minutes or hours on end -- at least for me. But then, I don't like dark or strong colors as my work background to begin with; I find them tiring.

Their web site is nice, and the dark colors don't bother me, but then I don't intend to spend a lot of time there, nor do I intend to do work there either.

Tony Setti OK, I downloaded the new version and installed it, and now I have the "Use Ultimate" button. However, I still don't see the tape measure button...

Thanks!

Andrew Young Once Stylizer is in Ultimate mode, you'll get a list of "suggestions" below when you click on a value cell. For example, if you make a CSS property called "width" and then press ":" to go to highlight the value cell, the tape measure button appears at the bottom, left of the suggested values. It looks like a little yellow rectangle in a bigger white round rectangle.

Tony Setti OK, never mind - I found the tape measure!!

Thanks for your help, Paul and Andrew (on the forum).

Kevin Andresen I bought the software using PayPal.
- I think the system might not like not filling in the Credit Card section because the Thank You screen is missing 3 variables including (as I remember) the Product Key.
Also, the email from Skybound came immediately (on BitsDuJour day) with a product key and account info. Logging in and "View"ing my receipt caused a server error.

Like with kiger above, TopStyle has been my number #1 CSS editor (although I depend on Dreamweaver's automatic browser dependence logic) and at the end of the Tutorial, I was deeply thankful that I check BitsDuJour daily.

Even though there's no HTML editing, and you have to really know CSS to get started (or get one of those 3 column layouts from the web to start with), the Skybound web doesn't even try to describe the experience of editing, and measuring, and balancing, and all rest with this tool.

I found, when I ran the tutorial, that when I was asked to turn Ultimate on, it took quite a while for Firefox to load after my first Ctrl-F12. So I hit Ctrl-F12 several times and, in the process, lost the tutorial that was running in the page display window.
If this happens to you, I highly recommend starting Stylizer over and getting through the whole tutorial if you're a web designer and aren't impressed by the Basic section.
(Also the tutorial suggests switching to Firefox earlier at a point where Ultimate hasn't yet been switched on).

There's no help, no manual; the vertical slider on the CSS section often defaults to looking like the pane is empty; the Firefox HTML source code view doesn't support editing; it seems, at first, like a nascent pain in the neck.
But under the hood, from my experience today, it is a very SWEET! tool to add to whatever my favorite HTML/CSS editing platform is.

Mary Wilson I am sorry if this sounds like a very basic question or stupid question. I don't know what "CCS" stands for nor can I figure out what this program edits.

Paul Young @Mary

I'm not sure what "CCS" means either. CSS stands for "cascading style sheet" though :)

Sorry...couldn't resist :)

CSS is the language of web design, the language that let's you say how a web page should look. To be honest, if you don't know what CSS stands for, Stylizer probably won't do you much good. Not yet anyways.

After being the first (of several) to report the order fulfilment problem, 20 hours ago, and having sent a message directly to the company via a form at your website, I've had no response other than the automatic acknowledgement.

As a software publisher myself, I know PayPal has had some problems recently, but presumably you have a manual processing capability. I'm still waiting for my license / key.

I thought allowing 20 hours for a reply was indeed cutting some slack. You have answered others who mentioned the problem _after_ I reported it.

I have now received your emails - being in HK I have just got up - found them in my spam filter.

But why do you need Address1; Address2; City; Province/State; Postal/Zip; Country

You have my money, I don't see the need for me to provide personal data.
