Paul Hello,

Is the single license for one shared USB device valid for one pc that acts as the USB server on which distinct USB devices kan be mounted but only one of the devices can be shared at a specific moment? Or is the license for one specific USB-device on one specific USB-server?
And is the license transferable to another pc?

Thanks!

Julia Rixon Hello Tom,

USB Network Gate [Single License (One Shared USB Device)] may not be installed on multiple systems. This License allows to share 1 USB device per system upon which USB Network Gate is installed. Any number of users may connect to any such USB device remotely, but only 1 user may connect to a shared remote USB device at any one time.

Paul Thanks for your answer.
But my question is wheter the license is restricted to one particular USB-device or not? For instance first a device A on the USB-server is shared. Later this device is dismounted and another device B is mounted to the USB-server. Will this latter device be visible over the netwerk? So at any moment only one device will be visible but which device this is can cange in time. Is that correct?

Julia Rixon Tom, please let me address your questions one by one:

1) The license for one shared USB device lets you share only 1 USB device at a time. The license is not restricted to a specific USB device. You can share, let's say a flash drive, then disconnect it and share a scanner instead.

2) Yes, you can transfer the license 2 times by yourself. All further transfers can be made with the help of our support team.

Robert Crombie Some of you may have this capability already.
Check your router, to see if it has a USB socket.
If it has, then check the router's specs. You may find that all you have to do is plug a USB drive into it, and it can be seen/shared with all computers on your network.
I was with iPrimus (in Australia), and had 2 different routers from them. One of them could share a thumb drive.
I am now with Foxtel, and their NBN router can share a thumb drive (I use that all the time)

Julia Rixon Robert, thanks for your comment! You are totally right, some routers indeed have such functionality and let you connect to the flash drives over the network.

USB Network Gate, however, supports various kinds of USB devices and lets you connect scanners, webcams, gamepads, smartphones, etc. apart from USB drives.
