Ever access your HTPC system remotely? It’s a completely different experience than sitting in front of your computer, isn’t it? In fact, some of you may have been so put off by the horrible logistics of remotely controlling your HTPC, that you don’t even try to do it anymore. Well, today’s discount software promotion is designed to pull you back into it – it’s Vee-Launcher!

Vee-Launcher offers an innovative way to access the applications and features of an HTPC remotely using an intuitive graphic user interface. With Vee-Launcher, you’ll be able to skip all of the frustration and hassle of dedicating remote control keys to individual HTPC applications. Instead, you can pull up a revolving carousel of images tied to your applications – each image is a shortcut to launch an application, and your carousel is fully customizable to suit your needs.

Imagine being able to navigate your HTPC applications remotely just by using the arrow keys! That’s the magic of the Vee-Launcher carousel, and once you try Vee-Launcher, you’ll never go back to using any other HTPC remote access application ever again!

Colin Edwards Hi Matzel,

This is a 'false positive' - there are no nasties in Vee-Launcher I can assure you :)

Colin Edwards Tip for potential buyers:

I have several users who use Vee-Launcher purely for launching games and nothing else - it's quite handy for that.

AND

A few more who use the program for adding a bit of style to the navigation part of their business presentations (usually in PowerPoint)

_*_ I do wish there were videos showing this program in action.

I do not use remote access to my system, so not really sure the uses of the software.

Tthat is why I would like to see it in use and how to apply it to given contexts.

Colin Edwards Hi __*__

It really is just a launcher program so you can do with it what you wish; run programs, open files via their associated programs, even run batch files (.BAT) if you want - anything you can create a shortcut for in Windows, really. The trial app just shows examples of usage since I cannot possibly know what a user has installed on their PC but it is fully functional and comes with a Help file.

Sorry that there is no video but you can download the program and trial it for yourself to see it in action. Of course, if you do not use your PC from your armchair then perhaps this program is not for you :) But, if you do, then you would just use your remote control (if you have one) to navigate the launcher's 'carousel'. There are many phone apps that you can install onto your smartphone if you don't have a 'proper' remote control handset and they will work too.

_*_ @Colin Edwards, thank you for the reply. I do not use a remote so it seems it would be less useful for me personally.
I appreciate your taking time to respond back as it means a lot when the developer cares enough to be involved with customers.

Thank you and I hope you do well.

Colin Edwards @_*_ Thank you for the kind words. :) And apologies for previously mis-spelling your name with four under-score characters instead of the more usual two ;)

John H What the heck is HTPC?
Sounds really complex and technical, probably something I would never use.
Whos' mind am I supposed to read?
Thankfully for Wikipedia,
HTPC= home theater PC (HTPC) or media center computer.

Wow! I have that! An X61 Thinkpad running my 55 inch HD TV!
I control everything with a Logitech wireless keyboard and track pad.

Now for the real mind reading trick. Why is this going to be any better than my wireless keyboard with the poorly implemented track pad? What is this about a remote that you mention? How does it integrate into my computer?

Probably a great program that needs useful add copy.
Might I suggest to all brilliant programers who are clueless about marketing and business interactions to subscribe to the Monday Morning Memo by Roy H Williams. One great illuminating blog post a week and you begin to get an understanding of the business world unknown to us engineering types.

I hate seeing great software fall by the wayside due to the lack of a business plan. The converse being bad software becoming popular due to a powerful business plan.

Colin Edwards I'm sorry you were unable to glean anything useful from the copy associated with this promo - unfortunately I did not get the chance to change the wording that BduJ initially came up with due to a family emergency so it is what it is. Having said that, I guess my re-wording (had I done it) would also have made assumptions about what the reader knows or does not know since I am targeting people who know what an HTPC is! If I lose one or two sales because I did not turn the copy into an educational piece complete with glossary then I am happy with the consequences of that decision.

Thanks for your input.

Colin Edwards Oops. Sorry - meant to address your other questions...

A remote control is the same thing as you use with your TV except you have one that controls your PC, connected to it wire-lessly, usually.

Some may prefer such a device to a wireless keyboard since, when viewing your 50" monitor from an armchair, you don't ordinarily use the keyboard as there is no need. Most HTPC programs are navigated via arrow keys and ENTER and are designed around that as a minimum.
