- “The lectures were easy to follow. I used Eclipse and PyDev plugin instead of notepad and command prompt. There was one video that didn't play (can't remember which one). I have a programming background (C, C++, Java) so the syntax came easy to me. Wish there was more info about Django (I know this is about Python first and foremost). Also you have to pay attention to when he's using Python 2.7 or 3.0. when running your code (ie. in Eclipse). Overall, I would take another class by this instructor.”- Phillip Abram
- “You cannot take this course without any previous knowledge of coding. You will quit very soon if you do. Some of the terms thrown at you in the first section assume you know what a Float, Int, and Boolean are without much explanation at all.The instructor is smart, but doesn't teach the material so much as just shows you what he can do. This is a "follow me and you will do what I do" course, instead of "this is why you do this, and how you do that" course. In summary, this is a paint-by-numbers course for Python. It's good, but there's probably better-taught courses out there.”- Doug Ivey
- “I am starting a web development project at my job and we were thinking of using Python and Django. I found this on Udemy and thought that it would be a good starting point. I made it a little harder for myself by using Tomcat for the app server and MySQL for the db. I enjoyed the course up to the Django section. I thought the section on Django was poor. It did not go deep enough. I am still not 100% sure how to use it for my application.”- Tom Conti
- “This course is very, very basic. It is like a guided demo of what a complete course would be. Pros: Prof. McMillan is very clear and articulate, the topics covered are very interesting, and the sequence of topics is good. The pace is good and you will not get bored. Cons: I wish he had used a better text editor than notepad (with syntax coloring!!!), the sample programs were typed while the lecture was going on: I would prefer to have the files already done so that they could cover more examples and go a little deeper on the subjects. The lectures are very short. There was no lecture(s) on publishing the web sites onto a server - everything was run on localhost.”- Roberto Bertini Renzetti
- “If you are just learning Python, I recommend this course. The instructor did a great job teaching some basic fundamentals; however, with that being said this course has some outdated material. I would take this course as a way to get your feet wet, but don't all these techniques in your day to day. For example, playing with sqlite3 is great but using forms to directly interface with your database is a big no no. I would recommend picking up a course on django or a solid web framework! Regardless, great class! :)”- Joel Vasallo
- “This class helped to consolidate and refine my knowledge of Python. Up till now, all my "learning" was from free information. While there is a great wealth of knowledge regarding the paradigm of programming in Python, actual practical usage of the information can be scattered. Not here!As a Linux user, I had no problems... the instructor is using Windows. Why? Because Python is awesome as a cross-platform language. With mid-level Python experience you will have no problems following along AND will learn a lot.”- Brad Kell
- “Really a very high-level, intro to concepts in using Python to develop web apps. However, author does a great job of moving through the lessons in a way that allows you to get your feet wet and actually understand what's going on (with the exception of the very last section on Django - I chalk that up to the fact that Django is a framework and just way to big to try to cover in this format).”- Tim Kitchens
- “The course is ok if you dont pay full price. Otherwise I feel it should have just been included in the Ultimate Python course. There is also no mention on how to view and get other python documentation.”- Allen Kaganovsky
- “I got bulloxed up beginning in the 5th section. But once I figured out that I need to be using Python 2.7, I completed the exercises much more smoothly. I had several books on Django, and hadn't figured out how to enable the web admin tool. Very helpful. This is a great start, and if there were more advanced django courses by the same author, I'd definitely sign up for them.”- Marjorie Roswell
