Rene de Vries Useful File Utilities (UFU) is a very fast and easy-to-use file browser. It has some internal utilities such as Renamer, Replacer and Finder. Moreover, it has external utilities such as Change Attributes and Batch Replacer. UFU has utilities necessary for webmasters, programmers and anybody who is concerned with computers. Imagine that you need to process hundreds of files. It would take you many hours to do this manually. Fortunately, UFU is created to solve this problem as it does this job, and more, for you easily. You can even process files from several directories or even disks simultaneously (see Basket drive in the help menu of the program).

James K That's a rather vague description. Could you provide a link to the website, and/or a list of features.

From your description, it sounds like a shell with a few utilities thrown in.

Renaming, replacing and finding files does not sound special, all those functions, are built into all OS's. Likewise changing attributes, and moving, deleting, etc. batch's of files is something that is built into the tools that come with Windows (even DOS had these things).

I'm always up for a good utility program or suite, but so far this fails to impress.

James K Just found the link. Sorry! ^_^

It looks interesting, the batch replacement of the contents of Word Excel and PowerPoint files especially so. And the basket certainly appears to make batch programming easier.
