Affordable Cots For Backpackers

These cots offer an extra comfortable sleeping experience for backpackers, without compromising their space in their packs or back muscles.

This deluxe crib is a fantastic choice for Scandi-style nurseries. It is also very practical and has three mattress heights to keep your child comfortable until they are around four years old.

Mountain Summit Gear Horizon Cot

The Mountain Summit Gear Horizon Cot is our top budget pick and is an excellent option for campers seeking a simple sleeping solution. It's easy to set up and pack and comfortable to sleep on. This cot features a broad base that can accommodate anyone up to 6 feet tall and 300 pounds. Our testers found it stable on most terrain. It also comes with a handy side pocket that's great for holding gear like phones, water bottles, and sleeping pads. While it's bulkier than some backpacking cots but the Mountain Summit Gear Horizon Cot is still a great option for portable storage and fits well into most camping tents for cars.

If you're looking for something a little more luxurious, we recommend the REI Co-op Kingdom Cot 3. The cot is designed for two people and features an area for sleeping that is incredibly comfortable, even without an air mattress. The cot has a quilted surface which is comfortable to lay on. It also has baffles on the sides, which prevent you from falling. This cot is extremely stable due to its sturdy steel and aluminum bars that connect to the large and swiveling feet. It was easy to set up for our testers, however the last knob connecting the main bar needed additional strength.

Another option that is a great choice is the Byer of Maine Easy Cot, which is very similar to our top pick in terms of set-up and packing. It folds down similarly to a folding camp chair and the middle joints snap together quickly and easily. It's slightly larger and heavier than the Osage River model but it can be folded into a smaller carrying case that's roughly the same size as the carry bag of a camp chair. It also has a larger sleeping area as well as a side pocket for storage making it an ideal option for those who require a comfortable camping cot that doubles as a guest bed at home. You can even find the cot with an attached headrest for additional comfort.

Onwak Cots

Onwak Cots are the perfect camping cot if you require an affordable, lightweight cot. This cot is unique in its design that folds and is made of high-quality materials. It's easy to store and transport. It's also extremely comfortable and durable and can be used as a bed or a lounge chair.

The Onwak Cots are not just great for camping, but also for backpacking and hiking. Its light iron or aluminum construction allows it to easily support large loads while remaining portable and affordable. The cot has also been rigorously tested to ensure superior quality and performance. Onwak makes use of only the finest materials for its products, and offers reliability even when shipping in bulk.

The Kamprite Double Kwik Cot makes the perfect cot for couples that love camping together. This cot is easy to put together and ready for sleeping within minutes. It has many convenient features including a washable denier base with a cushioned section as well as a mesh storage hammock. It can also be used as a lounger and comes with a variety of reclining positions for a customizable experience.

For those who aren't seeking a cot that is as comfortable as a mattress and isn't too expensive, the Coleman ComfortSmart is an excellent option. It can be set up in less than two minutes. It also has a broad foot at the base of each leg that swivels to adjust to uneven ground. cots offers 's also affordable and is available with or without a mattress.

While the Coleman ComfortSmart is a great option for car campers, it's not the ideal choice for backpackers or backcountry hikers. It's too heavy and cumbersome to carry over long distances, so it's best for those who are traveling to their camping spots. The legs are difficult to unfold and feed back into the body of the cot to store.

Helinox Lite Cot

The Helinox Cot One Convertible combines precision engineering with non-stretch fabric to produce an ultralight camp bed that is both comfortable and durable. The patented tensioners provide great tension on the bed surface without adding additional weight. The tensioners also stop the bed's surface from flattening when it is placed on uneven terrain. The only downside to this model is its high price.

There are numerous affordable options for backpackers with a budget. For instance, the OEX Ultralite Folding Cot costs less than half the price as the Helinox Lite Cot but is significantly heavier. The biggest drawback with the OEX is that it's not as easy to assemble and can be difficult for small-framed people to bend its five aluminium leg assemblies into place.

Unlike the OEX and the OEX, the Helinox Lite Cot is equipped with an exclusive lever lock tensioning system which allows it to be erected and disassemble. The lever is situated on the side of each leg. It has a pivoting arm that is able to engage the top frame bar. The lever is equipped with an uncompressed tab on the other end that you can press to let it go. This mechanism uses mechanical leverage to provide an excellent tension to the bed, without adding bulk or strain to the legs.

Another benefit of the Lite Cot is that it can be adjusted to different heights by using the included leg extensions. This is a huge benefit when camping in an alpine area where you'll need to be away from the ground due to snow or uneven terrain. However, the low profile of this cot can be a problem if a big mover during the night or when sharing your tent with another.

Like other cots the Lite Cot requires a bit of practice to set up and disassemble. After a few hours, it becomes a breeze to use and pack. It is also incredibly lightweight and compact for a cot, and fits in most cars and vans with their gear. This makes it a great option for bike or car camping.

ALPS Mountaineering ReadyLite Cot

If you're looking for a cot to travel with that is easy to carry and set up it's the ALPS Mountaineering ReadyLite Cot is a good option. It is light and durable thanks to its aluminum frame 7000 series and 420D honeycomb polyester rip-stop fabric. It weighs less than 5 pounds, but can support 300 pounds of weight. It folds into the size of a carry bag 7x17 inches that makes it simple to carry.

In contrast to other cots that require you to extend it from its middle it is the ALPS ReadyLite Cot has legs that extend out at the bottom of each side, which means all you need to do is spread the cot, then tighten its straps. We found that it was one of the easiest cotes to set up however its larger size may make it too large to fit in some tents.

ALPS Mountaineering ReadyLite, while not as portable as other cots listed here, is still the best option for backpacking cots. The wide feet at the bottom of each leg can be adjusted to accommodate uneven terrain and you can sleep in the rain.
