What to Look For in a Double Travel Buggy

A compact side-by-side with an extremely small footprint (for use in public transport and narrow doorways). Add seats or a carrycot (with adaptors) to grow the frame to accommodate children up to 50 pounds per seat.

A fantastic budget double with rear and front suspensions to make light work of uneven surfaces, a large storage basket and a padded handlebar for parents of various heights.

Size

Double pushchairs are typically larger than single ones, particularly when they are side-byside buggies, such as the Kolcraft Geo 3 or UPPAbaby. The good thing is that this extra width lets them to accommodate heavier children without straining the chassis. Other features that make them stand out: large pop-out canopies that have SPF 50 protection, as well as peekaboo windows with swivel lock front wheels to help navigate tight spaces like shopping aisles, a cup holder for one parent and a smart fold mechanism that is one-handed. The 10-inch wheels aren't designed for rough terrain, but they can handle city streets and theme park rides quite well.

In terms of price tags these kinds of lightweight buggies that are side-by-side are quite affordable.

Weight

The lighter the double buggy the more easy it is to move and lift. The Joie Evalite Duo, which is the lightest of our Lab tests, is an excellent option if weight is an issue. It's still loaded with plenty of features like an enormous pop-out canopy that has SPF50 and a peekaboo window as well as a quick-release folding mechanism that can be folded flat in seconds, four-wheel suspension for rough terrain, and a swivel wheel at the front that makes it easy to navigate tight shops and supermarket aisles. It's also affordable at just over PS1,000. It can also carry twins or a baby and toddler with the purchase of an additional'sidepack'.

Flexibility

A good double buggy will provide a great deal of flexibility, regardless if you have twins or an infant and a toddler. The narrow tandem buggies are ideal for navigating tight spaces, while side-byside models will keep your children well-cared for and help you to keep an eye on them while you go to the grocery store or the park. A lot of buggies come with a variety seats so that you can adjust them as your child grows. Some allow you to add an automobile seat or ride-on board.

The Joie Evalite Duo is a great example. It can be used to hold two seats or a car seat. The adaptors allow you to change from a single seat to a double seat in a matter of seconds. It also has a nice-sized pop-out UPF 50+ sunshade canopy and adjustable leg rests, as well as windows that peek out from both seats; the standing fold is simple and quick to fold using just one hand; and a high-quality suspension that makes light work of rough terrain.

Tri-fold buggies such as the iCandy Peach are another versatile option. Their slim frames are ideal for narrow aisles and doors while they are able to accommodate twins or a baby and even a large child thanks to the addition of UPPAbaby's 'PiggyBack board (which you can purchase separately). They come with a large basket and include all the accessories you could require, including liners and rain covers.

Tandem buggies typically have your children seated together, which makes them easier to push and more sturdy on uneven surfaces, however they can be difficult to maneuver around kerbs. They have a bigger footprint than a one-seater and can be too big to pass through doorways.

Comfort

One of the more comfortable and lightweight doubles we've tried the buggy has seats that are elevated to the level of stadium seats so your children have a great view. It also has nice-sized UPF 50+ canopy with peekaboo windows; a padded toddler seat and add-on RumbleSeat that has adjustable legs and foot rests; and an individual cup holder for parents. The seats can recline independently by pressing a lever beneath each seat. Testers also love how the straps can be fastened and removed with just one hand. The handle is easy to twist making it easy to fold. It can also be stored by putting the backrest up for easy access.

This is a great option for families who want to grow with their children. It is available in a variety of configurations, including 30. It can hold twins or a toddler, as well as a baby or three kids if you add a 'PiggyBack board'. The spacious basket and soft suspension makes it suitable for kerbs as well as in the city. It's also a great value. BabyGearLab recommends this to children ages 0-6. of six.
