Types of Hob and Oven

Hobs and ovens are popular feature in many kitchens. They come in many different designs. You can even mix types such as domino, electric and gas to suit your cooking needs.

Safety features like the controls for child and position can be added to a hob. These are designed to prevent children from touching the stove and stop them from changing the temperature settings by accident.

Types

The hob is the central point of any kitchen and can have a major impact on the results of your cooking. There are a variety of hobs, and which one you choose depends on your cooking needs.

Gas hobs are the most popular choice and offer a fast heating process and instant reaction to temperature fluctuations. They are a favorite choice for professional chefs as they are precise in their control. However, they aren't as easy to clean as other hobs and may require a higher level of maintenance.

Electric hobs feature a flat ceramic surface with heated elements underneath. They can be found in a variety of sizes and come with four to six cooking zones. Each zone is equipped with a distinct heating element which you can regulate individually. You can boil potatoes in one ring while cooking sausages on a different. This type of hob can be faster to heat than gas and provides a child-safe option as the cooking zone is only heated when you put a pan on it.

Traditional ceramic hobs are a convenient alternative to electric and gas and are a elegant choice. They have an even and smooth surface that is easy to clean. However they aren't as fast to respond to temperature fluctuations or cool down as other hobs.

Domino hobs can be a space-saving alternative to gas and electric hobs that have ovens underneath the cooking surface. They can be installed in smaller kitchens with limited installation space and work well in kitchenettes and flats. They are typically less expensive than standard hobs and can be very energy-efficient however they are also fragile and require more maintenance than other types of cooker.

Gas

A gas hob is a cooking surface with burners that can be incorporated into kitchen countertops for an elegant look. Gas hobs are usually powered by LPG or natural gas, but they can also be powered with propane gas. The sleek, modern design can enhance your cooking space that is modular.

A traditional gas stove is equipped with a variety of burners. The majority of them are four burners, but it could be up to six. The burners can be ignited with a match or knob. The flames are controlled by a set of valves which can be adjusted to regulate temperature.

Induction hobs differ from standard electric hobs in that they utilize electromagnetic fields to directly heat your cookware rather than the conventional method of gas flames. They can achieve precise temperatures more quickly and are more efficient in energy use. They also have a cool-to-the-touch surface and flashing heat indicators to inform you that the ring is in use or still hot.

Ceramic

Ceramics can be used to make functional or decorative objects. It is made by mixing clay with earthen elements, powders, and water, before firing it in a hot oven known as Kiln. Once it's been made it can be coated or painted with decorative materials to add texture and color.

Ceramic hobs are a stunning blend of function and form, sitting comfortably in any modern kitchen. They operate using radiant heating technology, which passes an electric current through the coiled elements hidden beneath the black glass surface of the hob. They produce heat when activated, which is transferred to your pan through an infrared system. You can adjust the intensity of the heating by adjusting the controls using a knobs or buttons.

Some ceramic hobs come with dual-ring designs, having one smaller and a larger cooking area which allows you to select the most suitable size for your pan. There are hobs with boosters that generate high-powered heat rapidly. This is ideal for cooking food and bringing pans to boil fast.

Ceramic cooktops are more energy efficient than other kinds of hobs due to the fact that they take longer to heat up and alter temperatures. You can also choose vented hobs that incorporate a ventilation system with the ceramic cooktop. This ensures that steam, smoke and cooking smells don't linger in your house.

Induction
