Keyless Entry

The days of putting a key into a lock are slowly disappearing and most new cars have keyless entry. You can unlock your car by pressing the button on the fob or by grasping the door handle. This lets you remain hands free and not have to search through your bag to find keys.

The system operates by transmitting an audio signal that is received by the key fob, which in turn sends a reply signal to the car. This is then recognised by the car and it will usually either open the doors or turn on the interior lighting (if it is programmed to do that).

Some keyless entry systems do not require fobs. Instead, they utilize an app on your smartphone to send a signal directly to the car. This is also known as a phone-as key, or a digital-key. It can be an excellent way to allow other drivers to access your vehicle without having to hand over keys.

It's important to know that keyless entry systems aren't foolproof, and there have been instances of people having their cars stolen using this technology. Secure-A-Key is an anti-theft device that you can connect to your key fob. This will disable the battery of the remote control if it's not moved for a period of minutes, making it much less likely to be stolen from the vehicle.

Start and Exit System

If you're heading back to your car with a muddy coat from the field or an soaked shopping bag, Skoda's Simply Clever features are here to assist. This includes a clever double-sided boot mat in the Karoq that's composed of fabric on one side and plastic on the other, which protects the floor when it gets dirty or wet.

The latest keyless entry system - known as KESSY control unit includes an additional layer of security to protect your vehicle. The system verifies that the correct key is used to turn the engine on and, if not the immobilizer is activated. This stops the vehicle from starting by preventing different actions, like turning off the ignition coil, fuel pump or injectors.

You'll see a warning light on your dashboard when the immobilizer is activated. This should be treated as a serious problem and you'll need to consult an expert to determine the root of the issue.

Modern keyless entry systems are secured by a range of sensors, which includes a door handle detector. This sensor is located inside the two front doors and it waits for an event to trigger it. For instance, it could trigger the key being inserted, or the button that is pressed on the tailgate. If the trigger is detected by the car's control system, it will unlock the doors and start the engine. The Kodiaq, Superb, Octavia and Enyaq have the same system, called Area View that uses cameras to display multiple perspectives of your car's immediate surroundings on the in-car monitor.

Remote Control Window Winding

If your skoda's window winding is not working properly, the problem could be caused by a bad motor or switch. If the switch is the issue, use a multimeter and examine the continuity of the power and ground cables that connect to the motor. Ideally, you should get the power and ground wires connected when you press the switch. If you don't, the switch likely bad.

If you are unable to fix the issue, it is recommended to seek help from an auto electrician. They will be able to fix the window winding on your skoda Octavia and will also make sure that everything is working correctly. You can also reach out to the local dealership for skoda regarding the issue.

The switch contacts are connected to the power supply, which is in turn connected to a motor that does the actual winding. A large plate is equipped with gear teeth cut into it, and the motor turns an axle that engages the teeth when the window rises. When the window is lower and the gear is released and the handle can move freely.

"We wanted to keep the centre of the steering wheel as tidy as we could, both to make the logo stand out and to avoid a feeling of clutter," says designer Marwan Khiat. The steering wheel contains 14 buttons that control the vehicle's functions. All of them are clearly labeled. The buttons are operated by simply pressing. This makes it simple to use, and you don't have to remove your hands from the steering wheel.

There's a storage compartment in every front door (except for the driver's side) which is just the right size to hold an umbrella. You'll be able to keep your umbrella dry when you exit at the stop.

It's a small thing however it makes a big difference. When you open the door the umbrella will be waiting for you. If you're driving, the umbrella will stay out of your way and not enter your path. This is just one of the many clever features that demonstrate how many hours of thought went into Skoda.
