WoW Item Upgrades Item upgrades, also referred to as "upping" are enchantments or items that can be used to boost the stats of armor and weapons. A Garnet Jewel and a Garnet Stone both increase the strength of an item however, a Garnet Jewel also boosts a player's ability to strike with force. Jewels can be found in all armor, weapon and accessory slots. They also work with some exotic trinkets or lower rarity trinkets that require a slot. Like other DM mechanics, gems can help to ensure that items feel special to their owners. Jewels offer a variety upgrade paths that allow players to personalize and discover the most appropriate combination for their needs. They can upgrade their equipment with new gems if they feel the existing set is no longer appropriate. Requirements The WoW item upgrade system allows players to increase the level of their weapons, equipment, and trinkets from their current level of item using specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords Of Draenor resources.
