This new generation is more diverse, and its worldview and values are evolving. This is evident in the recent rise of Kpop and the increasing global appeal of its exports of culture. It's still too early to know how these factors will impact the future of South Korea's foreign policy. They are worth watching.

South Korea must strike a delicate balance to shield itself from rogue states while avoiding being entangled in power struggles with its large neighbors. It must also consider the trade-offs that exist between interests and values, particularly when it comes to aiding non-democratic nations and collaborating with human rights defenders. In this regard, the Yoon administration's diplomatic-pragmatic attitude towards North Korea is a significant departure from previous governments.

As one of the most active pivotal countries in the world, South Korea needs to engage in multilateral engagements as a way of establishing its self within global and regional security networks. In the first two years of office, the Yoon administration has actively strengthened bilateral ties with democratically-minded allies and stepped up participation in multilateral and minilateral forums. These initiatives include the first Korea-Pacific Islands Summit and the second Asia-Pacific Summit for Democracy.

The three countries' resumption in their annual summit at the highest level every year is a clear indication that they want to encourage greater economic integration and cooperation.

However, the future of their alliance will be tested by a variety of elements. The aim is to establish a framework of multilateral cooperation that is to the benefit of all three countries.
